Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings the Blues Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings the Blues Nail Lacquer
Deborah Lippmann Summer: Lady Sings the Blues
Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings the Blues Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.5 fl. oz.) is described as a “silver sparkled blue” with a glitter finish. It’s a really deep, dark blackened blue with large hexagonal and smaller glitter particles of silver and blue. I was able to achieve opaque color in two coats, and within two coats, I also obtained a nice mix of glitter pieces.
This shade exemplifies what makes Deborah Lippmann’s polishes stand out to me. I love the mix of glitter in the base, and it just works for me. I think the brand’s formula is top notch overall, but I always find her glitters to be stunning. The formula with Lady Sings the Blues is no different–not too thin or too thick, flowed evenly, and covered in two coats. I didn’t have any issues getting the glitter to cover and spread across the whole nail. The drying seemed quicker than average, but you’ll definitely want a shiny top coat on this. If you don’t want to feel the bumps of glitter, opt for a thicker one, too. I typically get a week of wear with Deborah Lippmann polishes (using Zoya Anchor and Armor as base/top coats).

Gorgeous! Too bad a bottle of that breaks the bank. But it’s really, really pretty!
I love love love this! I especially like the hexagonal glitter! Was this difficult to remove (not that I really care, I think I’ll be buying it anyways!)
Less so than a 100% glitter polish! It’s, of course, not as easy as a cream polish though 🙂
You lovenly ladies may already know this, but incase you don’t. Acetone helps to take off glitter nail polish on natural nails. If you have fake nails on the acetone will mess them up, but on natural works just fine some what drying to the skin but just wash your hands and apply lotion 🙂 BTW This nail polish looks freaking awesome!!!
Also, to add to this, because I love 100% acetone for removing glitter polish but sometime even that is hard, I found a method online that makes it easier to remove very thick glitter polish. If you Google ‘removing glitter nail polish using the foil method’ or something along those lines, you’ll come across a lot of sites showing how-to. It works really well. 🙂
Ahhh, looks like a dream. Is this available Internationally ?
Omg sparkles!!! I have afew just glitter polishes. I kinda like how the glitter is mixed into the blue. 🙂
Oh, that looks really lovely! How was the removal? I love how glitter polishes look but really hate removing them. 🙁
Less so than a 100% glitter polish! It’s, of course, not as easy as a cream polish though 🙂
That is gorgeous! Oh my goodness!
This is totally a hot color. I want it so much. <3
I absolutely LOVE DEBORAH LIPPMANN’S POLISHES..ok..wasn’t so thriled with the summer ones this year..but man, when she puts out the glitters..and colors like Bitches Brew (ahhh..Miles Davis…)..I can’t stop buying…FYI..While I DO love Zoya’s Armour….as a topcoat…for Lippmann’s glitter polish…I’d use her HARD ROCK as a topcoat..I know..more pricey…but sometimes with the Zoya top coat for Lippmann’s polish…I have to use 2 maybe 3 coats to get it really smooth..but that’s just me…the HARD ROCK..i think is rather pricey..at 25.00 a bottle? But for her…WORTH IT…Just as Rescue Beauty Nails!
It is similar to Across the Universe of the Debroah Lippman collection except Lady sings the blues is a darker navy blue with a matte finished as opposed to a blue green glitter in a dark blue with a Jelly finish. I returned Lady sings the blues because I did not like the flat matte finish.
D.L. glitter polishes always look so pretty. I want to try them. Are they more difficult to remove than other glitter polishes? What tips would you suggest?
It’s not as bad as a full-on glitter polish, just because the base of this is not 100% glittery.
I just press felt soaked in Zoya’s Remove+ against the nail for 3-5 seconds, then pull, and that’s pretty much it!
Gorgeous gorgeous, this is sort of what I imagined for the Cult Water one based on the description. All sorts of lovely phosphorescent deep-sea detritus encased in darkest blue. Really nicely done.
I love her glitters too! So pretty!
Looked at this when I placed an order for DL last, but opted not to purchase yet, thinking I was merging to brighter shades for right now. But I sure am going back for this one to stash for fall/winter!
Of course, Deborah Lippmann is not available in France… I envy all of you who will get this nail polish…
How unique!
Stunning.
This is gorgeous, though I’d only wear it on my toes. A pity that I don’t believe in paying those types of prices for a nail polish. Why can’t a less expensive brand be as creative? 🙁
This is gorgeous!
I don’t know if I really like it. It looks like the glitter isn’t level with your nail.
Ooh, pretty! I have Glitter in the Air and I love it.
This is so pretty! It really reminds me of bad romance from d lippmann. It’s basically the same but with purple particles instead of blue. So gorgeous.
I love DL’s “Bad Romance”, which is essentially this one with magenta/ fuchsia glitter instead of blue. Lasts forever, too!
Beautiful, but too pricey for me!
I’m loving the Billie Holiday reference! But I’m sure I can get the same glitter/color effect from nail polishes less than half the price of that one.
I love love love Deborah Lippmann polish. I want this one and a few others. They are so unique.
Just out of curiosity, packaging this get 4/5 on packaging?
I find the handle could be a little longer and easier to grip – it’s not perfect packaging.
I’ve been dying to try a deborah lippmann nail polish. This might just be the one I get.
OMG i love this it reminds me of like the night sky!! so beautiful
This is a gorgeous blue.
I love this. Sign me up for any glitter polish that does not require layers upon layers over a colored base to achieve the desired effect!
This is gorgeous! I just bought Across the Universe (the one with green glitter) totally on impulse when I came across it in a boutique, and I must say, as my first “luxury” nailpolish purchase, it’s BEAUTIFUL. Well worth the $18.
I bought this nail polish and was so excited about it…. but it chips soooo fast. I was wondering if you have worn it for a longish time and what the results were for you? I’m starting to think mine is fake or something (I bought it off ebay). Any suggestions for base and top coat would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Christine!!
I use Zoya’s Anchor + Armor base/top coats! Hardly any polish chips on me, but definitely not Deborah Lippmann’s!
These actually look similar to the new holiday polishes at Sephora… they also have small and big chunks of glitter in them. 🙂
I have a few polishes but this is my favorite. I think it really is one of the most beautiful polishes I’ve ever seen.
