Dark Neutrals: All Ages, All Races, All Sexes Look
Dark Neutrals: All Ages, All Races, All Sexes Look
I gotta tell you, the eyeshadows from All Ages, All Races, All Sexes are really not so flattering on me. I’m thinking it’s probably the cool edge that they all have; it’s just a little much on me when used together. I think Cross-Cultural and Showstopper can be used, but perhaps not together. I think, on me, I need something earthy and metallic-y to warm them up and make them more flattering to my skin tone. (This is what prompted me to throw in Honey as the eyeliner… probably should have done Bourbon instead!)
So Sweet, So Easy really isn’t too cool for those with warm skin tones, but it can look cooler or warmer depending on what you pair it with. If you want to try this look, I’d recommend opting for a cooler-toned liner (maybe a neutral brown) and Resort Life lipgelee instead — I think the pink in Preppy doesn’t quite suit the coolness of the eyes.
Even though it didn’t come out to my liking, at least it can show you some of the new products in action! As always, experimentation is key to finding out what you like and don’t like — and makeup always washes off! 🙂
You will need the following…
- Eyes: MAC Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), MAC Universal Mix Pigment (white gold), MAC All Races Eyeshadow (cool lilac-mauve), MAC Banshee Eyeshadow (dirty pink), MAC Cross-Cultural Eyeshadow (medium-dark brown), MAC Showstopper Eyeshadow (dark black-brown), MAC Bisque Eyeshadow (matte neutral highlighter), Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner (gold), MAC Plushlash Mascara (black)
- Cheeks: MAC So Sweet, So Easy Cremeblend Blush (medium pink)
- Lips: MAC Preppy Lip Gelee
- Brushes: 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 188 (small stippling brush)
- Substitutes: All Races = no dupe; Cross-Cultural = Espresso; Showstopper = Brun; So Sweet, So Easy = Ladyblush; Preppy = Pinkarat
For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the lid with the 249. With water-based mixing medium, apply Universal Mix pigment onto the eyelid with the 239. Using the 239, apply All Races eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Banshee eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Cross-Cultural eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Next, define the crease by applying Showstopper eyeshadow with the 226. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Bisque eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Honey Liner on the lower lash line, and then sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.
For cheeks, apply So Sweet, So Easy cremeblend blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 188.
For lips, apply Preppy lip gelee for shimmer and color on lips.

I think it looks alright. Your sweater makes it sort of “acceptable” because they go together well. As always, I love the gold liner. It’s something I do regularly too since I saw it on you for the first time!
LOL! I had a totally different top on, but it looked even WORSE with it on, so I was like, “OK, let’s go color hunting!”
I actually think this looks really flattering on you! You have lovely eyes
Thanks a lot, Luana!
Looks Beautiful on you!!!
Thanks so much, Jessica!
very nice
I have to tell you I’ve tried wearing So sweet So easy on my lips, and it looks so nice.
Also So swee on my cheeks and Posey on my lips look gorgeous
Good to hear! 🙂 Glad it’s working on your lips, Jelena!
Not crazy about this look, you’re right a brown liner would have worked better (Underground maybe?). Still I love the cheeks and lips, I’m so excited about those lipgelees, lol.
I was thinking Bourbon, just ’cause it’s a little warmer of a brown than Underground, but I think either would work.
OMG! You are so beautiful!
Thanks a lot, Katya!
I actually really like this look on you, but i think that Honey liner was a good idea to warm it up – it migth have been too cool otherwise.
I wasn’t very interested in the lipgelees, but seeing them from a distance in these FOTD’s, wow, they look STUNNING on you! (and your hair is so enviously shiny in this pic 🙂 )
Love, love the lip gelees!
I’m glad you liked the liner — it seems like some do, some don’t! Go figure 😉
Thank you, Petra!
Very pretty!
Thanks, Kelli! 🙂
The middle lid colour is so pretty, I need to check it out when the collection comes out here !! The look is pretty and has given me a reason to check out this collection 🙂 and I love the lip gelee, definitely buying that one
Just be careful, because Banshee has a ton of fall out which is sooo not cute!
Thank you!
I am offically in love with Lip Gelees <3
MUST get ALL =)
Haha 😉
Very pretty. I love the addition of the gold liner. It just completes the look.
Thanks, Sarah 😀
Hm. I don’t like the Honey eyeliner, it kind of makes you look sick.
Sorry you didn’t like it!
looove showstopper. great look
Thanks, Laura 🙂
I like the U/D Honey eyeliner actually!
Thanks, Amy!
Really nice look! You have such a beautiful smile. 🙂 Btw, can you please tell what’s the difference between Urban Decay 24/7 liner honey and eldorado? Just woundering, cuz’ I only have Eldorado.
thanks!!!
Thanks a lot! 🙂 El Dorado is a little brighter, Honey is a little deeper. They’re similar, though.
Wow! I think it looks amazing on you!! You can wear anything though! I haven’t seen a look on you I don’t like!!!
Thanks, Lindsay! 🙂 You’re too kind!
Very pretty. I went and got All Races e/s at the MAC store as my Back to MAC recycling gift. I love it and getting it for free makes me love it that much more! I also got showstopper and love it as a crease. I’m still trying to love Mulled Cider but because it blends so much into my skin it doesn’t give me the oompf I’m looking for. I love Preppy on you – I’m thinking about taking back Resort Life just because I don’t think I can pull off that much sparkle here in the office at 8AM.
What are you using underneath it, Alexis? Any particular base that makes it stand out?
But everyone needs a little sparkle in the AM!
Thanks!
Yeah you’re right – I’ll experiment more with Resort Life. I do love it on top of neutrals (like 5N)
The MA at the MAC store used Groundwork p/p on me and I was lucky enough to get a sample. I used it today and it makes the lavendar in All Races pop (in a very subtle way) I may have to buy Groundwork. I love it on it’s own. At first she tried Painterly but I guess it was on the chalky side for my skin.
I’ll have to try that 🙂 Thanks!
I know this isn’t your favorite look, but I think it is actually quite pretty on you. I do agree about the darker eyeliner though. I definately know what you mean about these colors being to cool for warmer skin tones. The only one I picked up was all races. The others looked a little bruise-y on my fair/olive skin.
It’s been awhile since I’ve really disliked a look I’ve done — I like most of what I do, or at least enough not to make a fuss about it, but this one was like “UGH!” right off the bat!
Thank you 🙂
Soooo disagree. I think this looks amazing on you.
LOL! Well, I am glad you liked it 🙂
wowww i think i should buy atleast one lip gelee for my lippies collection what ndo u say ???
i did nt purchased anything from this coll … what 2 prod would u suggest for me
so many days and u didnt suggested me anything hahahha
love using the prod u suggested…
hey i bought one mac min skin finish in medium plus
can u tell me how to use that and any other good MSF
I think you’d like Lush & Bright 🙂 From All Ages? Nothing really. I think you can safely pass. From Lillyland, I’d say one lipgelee and one cremeblend blush — maybe Joie-de-Vivre!
I see you use UD 24/7 liner in gold a lot! It looks really great! I think I’ll purchase it 😀
Love this look, it’s so smooth and nice, simple but classy 🙂
Thanks a lot 🙂 Love golds!
I think it looks beautiful on you!!! You have really good eyes for eyeshadow (like shape-wise. I know that’s odd but mine aren’t so great)
Thanks, Rowan 🙂
I love the close up of the eye. It looks almost grey/mauve. Maybe it’s just my screen? The pop of the Honey liner is nice/unexpected too!
Thanks, Rebecca! Yeah, it has a very mauve-y tone on me!
Hai (PS i’m from holland so my english is pretty bad (13 years old)) i love this look !! You are a real artist!
xxxx loves xxxxx in dutch:
hai (PS ik kom uit nederland dus mijn engels is niet zo goed (13 jaar oud)) i hou van deze look!! Jij bent een echte kunstenaar!
xxxx hou van je xxxxx
Thanks, Amy! 🙂
I’m with Roxanne in that I really like these colors on you, though I do agree that it may be because of the sweater, lol.
Bright lip gelees look so good on you!
LOL!
Thanks, Ceriene!
I was leaning towards getting All Races before and now I’m definitely going to check it out.
I agree with you that Bourbon would have tied the whole look together. I color shop my wardrobe all the time. Easier than washing off my makeup and starting over!
Haha! I was like… well, this shirt is sooo not working (it was kind of a purple shade)… it’s black or bust!
Back from checking out All Races and it just didn’t work for me. I’m very fair and figured that would work in my favor in terms of getting this to show up. Just too pale to wear as a lid shade. I could see using it as a highlighter with a grey or purple smokey eye but that wasn’t enough to pick it up.
If I get my project done on time tomorrow, my reward is going to be to pick up the Joie de vivre blush. That is beautiful stuff.
Ohh, good luck on your project, Steph!!
I love this look on you! I love this look! Absolutely gorgeous. When I initially saw the collection I didn’t see the potential for this at all. You’re stunning.
Thanks a lot, Bunny 🙂
you are right, i’d switch to bourbon liner…but i think the eye colours look very good on you!! actually, it’s making me look forward to picking up some banshee etc…. i like the lipcolour, but maybe if you used a cool brown or grey liner you’d find it went better? (personally i like i think it works with the cool eyes)
Thanks for the suggestions, Aradhana 🙂
the eyes look great!!! pretty look!
when I wear gold liner I prefer it on my upper lid…
Thanks, Luisafer!
i agree that it wasn’t the most flattering on you, but it was a very nice look. and i was also wondering if you could maybe do a look with the joie de verve blush?
I wore Joie-de-Vivre here – http://www.temptalia.com/5-minute-face-joie-de-vivre-cremeblend-blush
🙂
Not a bad look Christine. I’m still on the fence about picking up any of the shadwos fron this collection. Showstopper kind of reminds me of a matte version of Night Manouvers from the Style Warriors collection, which I already own. Perhaps seeing them in person would pique my interest in the shadows. The only item I have ordered from this collection is Glamour for All l/g. I may also pick up Myself and 5N if it is still available next week:)
I don’t love ’em. I’d probably save $ and wait for Spring Colour Forecast. I’m pretty sure that’s better 😉
I can’t wait for the Spring Forecast collection! I”m trying to exercise some restraint until it comes out:D
It’s HUGE HUGE HUGE! And prettttty!
OH YEAH!! I was drooling in anticipation when I saw your post about the collection. I want one of everything but will be giddy if I only get the purple eyeshadow palette:)
I’m so into these looks you do with the golden eyeliner, love them all!!
Thanks so much, Claudia 🙂
I would have never guessed those were the shadows you were wearing – they almost look grey on you! Still I like them, just not with a gold liner. The lips are nice too.
Thank you 🙂
While I agree it’s maybe not the most cohesive look you’ve ever done, I still actually quite like it. I think maybe a warmer inner lid color would have really tied it together, or like you said a deeper brown liner. I LOVE the way So Sweet, So Easy looks on your cheeks though! I was really skeptical at first since it looks like a rather cool, light pink but it looks just wonderful on you! I’m definitely going to have to check out that one too now!
Thanks, Catherine! I definitely think a mix of warmer shadows with the cooler browns would be more suitable for my complexion.
Lovely, Chris!
Thanks, Sash!
You can rock anything. The sparkle on the lips is killer, and I agree with someone who said the middle e/s shade is beautiful.
I really like the addition of the gold; because the eye is so neutral the sparkle and shine of the gold brings some continuity with the lips. You don’t look sick, lol, except maybe in the slang vernacular.
Thanks so much, Kristina 🙂
Too bad Banshee has a ton of fall out, which can be pretty annoying to deal with!
I don’t know, maybe i’m crazy but I like the cooler colors here. I think you rock it. It’s definitely a look i’d try on myself, I have no idea why because i’m always so into bold colors, but I seem to like grey-toned shadows a lot.
And that lip gelee looks phenomenal! I’m pretty excited to get my hands on that.
Well, thank you, Liz! 🙂 I am glad you think so, lol!
I think this does work on you quite well, it has a soft muted look. I do think a taupey grey or brown liner would have worked better, but overall I don’t think it’s too cool for you at all.
Thanks, Brenda!
I also bought so sweet so easy but i found it didnt really show up on me at all really im an nc30 do u think this is worth keeping? should i give it another try? if i take it back should i get florida or the orange one??
Hmm, what brush are you using?
this look is fabulous!!! love it!
Thanks Christine..I just placed my order! lol 🙂
Thank you, Z!
I just love gold eyeliners right about now! Is that UD liner their *liquid* one? I know they have a gold 24/7 pencil in Eldorado in one of those recent sets, but I was thinking that the liner in Honey was liquid. (And thanks for the previous review on the HIP gold chrome eyeliner. I’m impressed with it!)
Nope, it’s the 24/7 pnecil!
