Cult Nails New Day Nail Lacquer
Cult Nails It’s a New Day Collection

Cult Nails It’s a New Day Collection ($36.00 for 3 x 0.50 fl. oz.) is a three-piece, limited edition collection. It’s available for pre-order at a special price of $24, and each pre-order also receives a free stamping plate. The way Cult Nails’ collections work presently is they’re sold via pre-order as a set, and if there are any remaining sets after the pre-order concludes, then those remaining bottles will be available as individual shades for purchase.

Cult Nails New Day Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as an “opaque, pastel yellow.” It’s a light, buttery yellow with a cream finish. It is mostly opaque in two coats, and it self-levels fairly well. I still ended up with a little bit of streakiness on my pinky nail, but the other three nails had totally self-leveled. The first coat was noticeably streaky, but the second coat hid and filled in the rest (excepting the pinky nail). The consistency is slightly thick, so I would make sure to take the time to do a thinner first coat, then a more normal coat for the second one. MAC Near Beth Experience (LE, $16.00) is a touch less warm-toned. Butter London Jasper (P, $15.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Cult Nails Evolution Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “sheer, but buildable, peach creme/jelly hybrid.” It’s a light, pastel peach with a cream finish. It’s sheer, as described, in a single coat, but it was a little streaky to me. I’ve also shown it with two coats, where it is opaque and had no streakiness. Dior Blossom (132) (LE, $24.00) is slightly darker. MAC Pep Pep Pep (LE, $16.00) is similar. MAC Myth (LE, $16.00) is darker. Chanel Emprise (P, $27.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Cult Nails Falling Hard Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “one coat, bubblegum pink creme.” It’s a light-medium, cool-toned bubblegum pink with a cream finish. It was fully opaque in one coat, just as promised. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, but it leans slightly thick. Illamasqua Harem (P, $17.00) is lighter, cooler-toned. MAC Vagabondage (LE, $16.00) is similar MAC Saint Germain (LE, $16.00) is similar. Zoya Shelby (P, $9.00) is darker. Essie Cascade Cool (LE, $8.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

P.S. — If you go through my referral link, you can get $12 off $24 on your first purchase. Note, it does not apply to the special pre-sale price (which is already discounted), so just a heads up 🙂

Hmmm..I’m usually very game for some Cult Nails, but not this particular collection. It is falling flat on me. Butter London’s Jasper is a great yellow, a bit edgier..a little more suited to my tastes. These are pretty, but not something that interests me.
