Cult Nails Nevermore Nail Lacquer
Cult Nails Nevermore Nail Lacquer

Cult Nails Nevermore Nail Lacquer ($12.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as as “high gloss black.” It’s a deep, dark, glossy black cream. NARS Back Room (LE, $19.00) is very similar, just a little glossier on the dry down. Illamasqua Boosh (P, $17.00) is also very similar. See comparison swatches.

Consider this post my ode to Nevermore, because it is a fantastic, out-of-this-world black cream. It’s intensely pigmented to the point that it really only needs one coat for full color coverage, but two gives such a wondrous, inky, deep, glossy finish that if I wore it alone, I’d still apply two. Whenever I’m trying out a new layering top coat, Nevermore is my go-to. It’s just so easy to apply, dries quickly, and never fails. The consistency is not too thick or too thin, so the application is flawless–smooth, no streaking or bubbling, and even. I typically get a full week of wear with very minor tip wear with Cult Nails’ formula.

It’s really quite pigmented! I really love that I can just do one coat when I’m doing swatches of layering top coats, so I don’t have to wait as long for it to dry AND I don’t have to use as much!

My only fear is that once I place an order for this, I’m going to end up with 10 others in my basket, LOL! Every time you review this brand, the shades catch my eye, but never enough to actually bite the bullet. However, this one seems worth it, and may push me to order at least a few others. The pricepoint is higher than I’m used to, but if there are some unique shades, I’ll likely bite.

They’re actually doing $12 off every $24 you spend with a maximum discount of $48 (so buy one get one free), no coupon code, ends midnight EST today.

You know, in case you needed a little push.

Wow! I’ve been looking for the perfect black nail polish for the longest time…might be something I should see if I can get! Love the glossy finish! 😀

Oh man, what a black. I wouldn’t ever be able to pull off black nails (it’s just not “me!”), but you’re totally making me want it anyways! >.<
