A couple of weeks ago, I posted a Cult Nails’ swatches mega post, as they’ve significantly discounted shades that have now been discontinued but was missing three (and then bought them!).  As promised, here are photos and swatches of those three–they’re still available through 12/31 (or while supplies last).

Cult Nails Blaze Nail Lacquer ($6.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “blend of glowing gold and copper glitter.” It consists of pale gold and copper micro-glitter suspended in a clear base. Two coats could work alone, but it’s better used as a layering top coat–I did one coat over black as an example. Each coat is fairly dense, but the consistency wasn’t too thick to be used as a layering top coat or with two coats of it on its own. Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Charm (112) (P, $18.00) is more metallic, less glittery. China Glaze Electrify (LE, $7.50) has much larger glitter pieces. See comparison swatches.

Mazo Nail Lacquer ($5.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “fair sheer nude with an elegant gold shimmer.” It’s a yellowed beige with fine yellow gold shimmer. It was semi-sheer to semi-opaque on nails after two coats. It applied evenly for the most part, and the consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin. MAC Hangin’ Loose (LE, $16.00) is lighter, more beige. Chanel Beige Petale (LE, $27.00) is sheerer. Rescue Beauty Lounge Ani (LE, $20.00) is less yellow/warm-toned. China Glaze Fast Track (LE, $7.50) is a bit darker and browner. See comparison swatches.

Party Time Nail Lacquer ($7.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as an “intensely pigmented blue creme with a hint of green.” It’s a vibrant, medium blue with a cream finish and natural shine. It was mostly opaque after two coats, but at certain angles, you could see a faint hint of visible nail line. This one will likely stain nails; just swatching this (so it wasn’t on for more than an hour) left behind a slight stain. The consistency was on the thinner side but had no impact on the application. Dior Bahia (792) (LE, $24.00) is darker. Zoya Liberty (P, $8.00) has a matte/glittery texture. NARS Koliary (LE, $19.00) is lighter. Illamasqua Noble (P, $17.00) is also lighter. SpaRitual Ebb & Flow (LE, $10.00) is lighter, brighter. Rescue Beauty Lounge Faraway (LE, $20.00) is lighter, has slight shimmer. Zoya Phoebe (P, $8.00) is matte. See comparison swatches.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Love Party Time, but blue nail polish is an obsessive thing with me. The rest, well, I’m rather tired of layering polishes and have been keeping it simple. Still, Cult Nails is a much loved brand.

Hello Christine

I love your website, it is so wonderful (and addictive !) I live in France and here we don’t have access to “Cult Nails” “Illamasqua” or “Zoya”

but we have “Essie” and “OPI” brands, would it be possible that you make some reviews on these nail polish brands too ? it would be so nice !!

Xo Xo Agnes and thanks again for your wonderful job !
