ColourPop Super Shock Vault (Holiday 2018) Reviews & Swatches (Part 5 of 5)

Daze and Faze

ColourPop Daze and Faze Super Shock Shadow Duo ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) includes a pale blue and a light-medium copper, both are more metallic in finished. When I layered the Daze over Faze, it resulted in a rosy copper hue. Faze performed quite well, but I expected a lot more from Daze.

Daze

Daze is a pale blue with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had a more slippery texture–very emollient and “wet” to the touch–that made it more difficult to apply evenly. The pigmentation was more medium to semi-opaque but difficult to build up beyond that due to the texture. It wore well for 10 hours without fading or creasing on me.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.

From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).

The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque in coverage, though they're often buildable.  They can be a little hard to diffuse the edges of, though some are lovely to work with.

The more glittery shades have been the weakest to me, as they can be sheerer or harder to apply.  Sometimes, they are more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often, they are sheerer and only function well patted on top of more pigmented eyeshadows to add glitter.  They do, however, tend to have little fallout over time with the occasional shade having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most powder eyeshadows with glitter).

Faze

Faze is a light-medium copper with warm undertones and a bright, metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was emollient without being too emollient that it became difficult to work with on my lid. This shade stayed on nicely for 10 hours without fading or creasing on my lid.

Dozin' Off

Dozin’ Off ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium taupe-brown with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of micro-glitter. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a slightly “wet” texture that felt smooth and almost velvety, but it didn’t blend out as evenly along the edges as I would have liked. There was also a little fallout as I blended out the edges after it had dried down. This shade lasted well for 10 hours with slight fallout over time.

Voila

Voila ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium lavender with warm, pink undertones and flecks of blue and gold sparkle. It had medium to semi-opaque pigmentation; it seemed like it was evenly translucent, not necessarily sheer or patchy to my eye. The texture felt smooth to the touch, not too wet or emollient, so it was a little more buildable on my lid than I anticipated. It wore well for 10 hours without fading or creasing on my eye, though there was very slight fallout present at the end of the day.

Shook Up

Shook Up ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium copper with warm, orange undertones and a glittering finish. The pigmentation was nearly opaque in a single layer, while the texture felt smooth, lightly creamy, and was blendable on my lid. The eyeshadow stayed on beautifully for 10 hours without fading or creasing on me.

Thought Bubble

Thought Bubble ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, plummy bronze with warm undertones and flecks of copper and purple sparkle. It was intensely pigmented and had a creamy, smooth texture that wasn’t too slippery, so it applied evenly and blended out with ease along the edges. It lasted well for 10 hours without fading or creasing on me.

Snooze

Snooze ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, bluish-gray with multi-colored sparkle. It had medium pigmentation, which was somewhat buildable, but the wetter, more emollient texture made it more prone to applying unevenly from the get-go. I find that the unevenness can be hard to correct in this type of formula, unfortunately. Once on, it wore nicely for 10 hours without fading or creasing, though.

Thought Bubble is absolutely fabulous – what a glorious, complex shade. The other shades here are fairly common and Daze and Faze are a tad disappointing.
Thank you for the review Christine.

I really, really do hope that ColourPop brings these back as singles, because I *need* Thought Bubble! It may have MAC Satin Taupe as a dupe, but this is far more complex than Satin Taupe!

Despite its faults, Snooze is gorgeous!! Hmm might consider that one, think it will work over a light gray shadow to correct the uneven application

I wish Dozin’ Off had a touch more purple to it and Thought Bubble is beautiful. Hope they release these as singles. I could see them working well over other shadows. I made a ColourPop order last week and then today got the discount code. Isn’t that always the way with it!!
