ColourPop Puppy Love Super Shock Shadow Review, Photos, Swatches
ColourPop Puppy Love Super Shock Shadow
ColourPop Puppy Love Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “soft peach with pink and gold duochrome.” It’s a light peach with warm undertones and an iridescent pink sheen. It read more pink sheen than duochrome to me (I couldn’t detect as much of a shift when moving my arm). Urban Decay Blow (PiP, $19.00) is cooler (95% similar). Smashbox Meme Girl (PiP, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Makeup Geek I'm Peachless (DC, $6.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Dior Rose Garden #4 (LE, ) is more shimmery (90% similar). Zoeva Handmade (PiP, ) is more shimmery, darker, brighter (90% similar). Guerlain Les Precieux #2 (LE, ) is brighter (90% similar). LORAC Dream Girl #10 (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). theBalm #14 (P, $6.50) is darker (85% similar). NARS Amanecer (LE, $19.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Chanel Tisse d'Automne #2 (P, ) is darker (80% similar). Ciate Dainty (LE, ) is more shimmery, darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
This is the first charity product I’ve seen from ColourPop, and it was nice to see that “all proceeds from the sale of ‘Puppy Love’ will be donated to Best Friends Animal Society.” It’s part of their cream-to-powder range, which has a firm, but spongy, consistency that applies more like a powder than a traditional cream eyeshadow (it doesn’t really feel wet). The texture was thin, blendable, and spread across the skin fairly well. This one was a little drier to me than the average ColourPop eyeshadow, so it was one that needs building/layering to achieve true-to-pan intensity. It wore for ten hours without creasing or fading on me.

IDK, I love that Colour Pop is doing this for charity, and I love the cute paw print on the cover, which is not shown here. But the shade by itself looks so underwhelming, especially compared to other CP shadows. I guess you have to build it up to get coverage and sparkle. Can this be used as a spot highlighter on face?
It could be used as a highlighter think – it is emollient enough, though it is not quite as emollient as their regular cheek highlighters!
Even though it’s not as duochrome as ColourPop claims, I still like it enough to buy it. But mainly because ALL the proceeds go towards animal rescue. I love animals so much, that for this reason alone, I am getting it!??
I would love for them to bring back Meow, and likewise give all proceeds to a cat rescue organization!??
That is such a good idea, Nancy! 🙂
It’s nice. But, I wish it did have the typical texture of CP shadows. Still, a good cause . I probably will pick this up with my next CP purchase.
I wish it was a little better, too!
Very pretty colour Christine.
I like the pearly finish on it!
Honestly, they could have released any color and I’d buy it just for the good cause! But I’m glad that it got a decent grade. I guess it’s similar to other things in my collection, but it’s also a shade that might be flattering on anyone, so I’ll be glad to pick several as a gift for friends and family 🙂
It’s nice – workable, too – not super pigmented but buildable at least 🙂
I think it’s great that ColourPop is doing this. I think it would make a good browbone or inner corner highlight.
Agreed on both 😀
Although I’d buy any color to benefit animals, this is a good neutral too. Kudos for Color Pop
I love that they are donating all proceeds!
Totally love them for doing this. Super awesome. Im a little underwhelmed by the color, but I’ll still pick it up with my next order if it’s still available!
Oh btw I love your eye look!!
Thanks, Bonnie!
Since getting this shade, 99% of the time when I wear this color I use it as a highlight. It gives such a good glow on my cheekbones. Love it for that, plus it’s for charity so I couldn’t pass it up!
Awesome! Do you use a brush or your fingers to apply, Kara?
The elf stippling brush is my go-to brush for applying colourpop cheek products. Just the right amount of coverage for me 🙂
Bought this even though the shade isn’t mindblowing. Colourpop is donating all of the proceeds of this product to charity, and I think that’s worth encouraging in companies.
That is an excellent point, Lydia!
That looks cute. And it’s a nice neutral color, work-safe. And it’s for dogs. I might have to get one.
It is an easy one to wear 🙂
Purrrrdy!
It is!
I actually love this color. I own over 50 colorpop eyeshadows and the first thing I noticed when I opened this one is that is seems “wetter” than the others I have and I actually love the texture of this one. I threw another one in my order today.
Awesome to hear 🙂 How do you wear this shade?
I ordered 4 of these as soon as I saw the email!!! The packaging and name are beyond adorable & I think the color is pretty versatile for everyone. So impressed that they donated 100% because you will see many companies who only give 10%. All 3 ppl that I gave these to as gifts absolutely adored it!
Nice, Sarah! It is a great cause.
Is this good for darker tones?
I think it would be okay, but it might not be the BEST shade ever, you know?
