On a Wing

ColourPop On a Wing 5-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($10.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a new, pink-and-mauve leaning color story that included two shimmers and three mattes housed in a slim, plastic compact. There was a good amount of depth across the five shades, though the lightest matte could have been more mid-tone and made for a more versatile palette across skin tones. The performance of the eyeshadows was consistent with the brand’s formula: pigmented, blendable, and longer-wearing with light powderiness at times.

This palette is one of five in a holiday vault, though ColourPop said they would be available individually when I asked, but they have not appeared individually on the site. It’s not realistic for me to review it as a set (takes much longer, but I also started testing them across sets already, and the system is better setup for a palette, not five palettes within a set, for readability!), so I decided to review them individually still.

Take Off

Take Off is a very light pink with subtle, warm undertones and faint sparkle throughout a metallic finish. The coverage was opaque in one layer, while the eyeshadow had a smooth, almost cream-like texture that was slightly thicker compared to the other shades, but I didn’t have issues picking it up with a dry brush or applying it to bare skin. It lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Spacy

Spacy is a very light mauve with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color payoff that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well. The texture was soft, somewhat powdery but not to the point of being prone to sheering out. There were signs of fading present after eight hours of wear.

Flight Thing

Flight Thing is a deep pink with warm undertones and slightly lighter, more mauve-hued sparkle throughout. The eyeshadow had a drier, more loosely-pressed feel that led to light fallout. To minimize fallout, you’ll want to press it into place carefully or else use a fingertip/dampened brush to apply. It had opaque pigmentation that stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Cirrus

Cirrus is a deep mauve with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture was on the more powdery side and somewhat thin, so it had more semi-opaque coverage that was prone to sheering out and had light fallout. It lasted for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Hope So

Hope So is a deep, reddish-berry with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color payoff paired with a smooth, velvety texture that wasn’t too powdery nor too firmly-pressed into the pan. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.
