I’m lusting for Lust for Dusk. But these new terms – “pinpoints” and “highlights” – are they just snazzy new ways of saying “glitter” or “shimmer”?
CANADIAN Temptalia readers – as someone who never orders from “online only” companies, I’m curious as to what your experience has been in terms of shipping cost, time, exchange, etc. when ordering from Colourpop. I guess I’m trying to gear myself up for when Christine’s palettes from Sydney Grace become available….if I don’t miss out because they sell out in 10 seconds, I may just take the plunge!
Im not Canadian but I just wanted to say–I am a bit worried about temptalia’s Sydney grace collab too…omg. I really want all three palettes and would hope they launch it as a pre-order instead. I’d hate to have to play the restock game
There won’t be any pre-orders right now – it can take months for packaging to arrive, so instead of having an indefinite ship date or one that’s 2-3 months in the future, they’ve ordered a ton of packaging and will have it ready to ship! It is significantly more product they’ll have available than any prior launch, so the hope is to have excess packaging and be able to fill additional palettes quickly if there is excess demand.
That’s super exciting! 8 hipe their strategy works. And thank you for responding :’)
As much as I admire and am a huge fan of Christine and Temptalia, I’m trying to be a bit “phlegmatic” about it. Sadly, I missed out on Jealousy Wakes all those years ago (I missed it TWICE – that’s how popular it was, and rightly so; I did manage to get the grey shadow from that Bloggers’ Obsessions, though), I did eventually get over it and I did survive. If I miss out on this collection (assuming I get over my own reluctance to order online), I know I’ll be hugely disappointed but, again, I’ll survive (a little sadder, certainly).
Mariella, I order from ColourPop far too often and am in Canada. They currently ship via DHL and when you are at the checkout, they show the total cost in American dollars, including the duties and taxes. It takes a couple of weeks for it to arrive. It looks like Sydney Grace uses the postal service, so you might be charged duty and taxes or you might not, it’s hard to say. Mail from the USA is slower than it used to be, but seems to be getting a bit faster again.
Thanks for this information, Martha. I guess one of my concerns is what the duty and taxes might add up to. The CDN dollar is strengthening but, you know, even when our dollar was stronger than the US dollar, the same items here were more expensive (by a fair bit) than in the US so that old chestnut about “well, it’s your weaker dollar” – it’s often just a crock.
Mariella, as an Aussie, I have ordered from CP on many occasions – always their lipsticks. I have found their shipping costs to be really reasonable and they always ship promptly. I also find that the packages arrive in an excellent condition and I have never had a problem with the brand in that way.
I have also ordered from SG and have found the same thing. So I think that you can order with peace of mind on this issue.
Good to know, Genevieve. I think SG is based in California so the stuff would have a somewhat shorter trip than it does to reach you in Australia. I am so dying to see the swatches of Christine’s palettes. I may end up just having to throw in a few of the SG singles that I’ve lusted over in the past months and years (Herky Bird, Commission and a few others).
I bought it today. It’s a matte with microglitter. Most didn’t even make it to my swatch, tapping your brush should get rid of 90% of it and the remaining easily brush off during application.
That high tide palette sure is pretty! It’s the first colorful palette that’s grabbed me in a while.
Lust for Dusk reminds me of a more developed Gravitas (MACxBrooke Shields, anyone?) palette.
OK, High Tide has my attention. I’m down for a monotone teal palette.
Wow, I also hate the “pinpoints” and “highlights” nonsense that just seems to be obscuring the reality of the ingredients. For shame, Colourpop.
☝☝☝
Ok but this teal palette! I’ve loved the single color story palettes CP has put out but few of them have spoken to me the way this teal one does. I hope it performs well (and not a pressed glitter in sight!)
Love the color story on High Tide! I might have to add that to my collection.
The curse of “fast fashion” is you begin repeating yourself pretty quick. These all look like a snorefest of things we’ve seen from Colourpop every few months.
I personally don’t mind. As long as you tell yourself that you don’t have to collect everything. Similar palettes are still not the same, and if you spend the time doing your homework you will have a higher chance at Colourpop to buy the perfect palette, instead of something that you will only use half the shade. I am all for more release, as long as they do it in a sustainable way, which I think they are actually quite good at not overproduce and overstock, hence, the always out of stock.
I love “Lust For Dusk”!
Still saving my coinz for my mid-June SG haul, but I will admit that Lust For Dusk looks like an interesting neutral palette!
The other two seem to have shades that are trying to mimic the shades in yours… which is just odd. 🤔
Mid-June is not far off. I think I hold off for the SG palette, although Colourpop High Tide has caught my eye!
I’m surprised it’s taken CP this long to come out with a monochromatic teal palette, tbh
How many shades in Lust for Dusk are actually new? I recognize Miser from my Fortune palette, and granted, it’s my favorite shade in that palette, but I think it’s kind of shady of them to be selling old shadows in pretty new packaging without being upfront about it.
These palettes look quite interesting and of course, CP can never, ever resist not putting out another (!) pink themed one. At least this time, it is accompanied by a rather sumptious looking teal palette and a softly hued mixed one. Let’s hope there is no glittler or anything in it to make it off limits to its patient customers.
I think this is a very nice collection and Lust for Dusk really have my attention.
Aside from the fact that it is contain a whole Going Coconut within this palette, the fact that is contains every transition shade that someone would ever need for neutral looks make it a killing palette.
The teal palette is super pretty and a nice addition to the Colourpop family although I personally don’t like teal as shadows. I have really been digging muted pink shadows lately and I found most colourpop pink palette to be too loud for me. This might be the one that I have been waiting for!!! Can’t wait for the swatches and reviews.
Thank you for summarizing the possible dupes!
I love light to medium cool toned shadows, so Lust for Dusk has my attention. If it swatches and performs well I will probably have to get it.
