ColourPop Exes and Oh’s Eyeshadow Palette ($16.00) is a new, Ultra-exclusive palette that features 12 shades. I believe Know Better and Smitten are new, while the rest have been released across past palettes from the brand.

I have the She palette and I think it would pair up really nicely with this one. She has only 4 mattes and this palette could bring it some balance!

When i first heard this was coming out I used your website/swatch database to confirm what you described i.e. that most of it was repromotes. Super useful! Not a matter of owning the same shade twice for me since I don’t own any CP palettes but it’s still disappointing to see them release basically a very similar color scheme.

The way I’d look at it is that it is made for Ulta, exclusively, so I think that’s part of why they include repromotes – the core ColourPop customer who already had these shades probably buys direct vs. exposing their brand to new-to-ColourPop customers at Ulta!

Hi Christina ,
I just bought the Pat McGrath mini subversion palette. I haven’t used eyeshadow in a long time . I have had oily skin in past, it’s better since I started doxycycline but not perfect. I tried palette yesterday and I still crease after a couple hours. Can you suggest a shadow primer please? Maybe both your fave higher priced and lower priced ? Thank you so much ?

Hi Lisa,

I like Smashbox 24HR/MAC 24HR (they are nearly the same to me). I also like NARS Smudgeproof and UD Anti-Aging (I don’t like the Original). For more affordable, NYX HD Eyeshadow Base or Essence Eyeshadow Base

You might find that a more opaque base is better — over the years, readers with super oily lids have seemed to gravitate toward more opaque bases like MAC Paint Pots and then sometimes layer that over Urban Decay Primer Potion (thinner, more translucent base).

For a no-color primer, NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer is my favorite. I’ve been using it for years, and I always buy a few at a time when they’re on sale at Ulta. I have oily lids and this product keeps my eyeshadow in place all day.

When I want an opaque base, I use MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre, set with UD Foxy eyeshadow.

Another product I sometimes use to keep shimmery powder shades from transferring from my lids into my crease is MAC Mixing Medium. It’s a little tricky, but it works. I put a tiny bit of this product onto my lid, then pat on the shimmer shade with my finger, then pat a tiny bit of the Mixing Medium on top of the shimmer shade and let it dry before opening my eye. (I aim a little fan at my closed eye to dry it quicker!) it took some practice to get it right because of the slippery nature of the Mixing Medium, but it actually does work.

Going to wait on the review! I almost bought Sidetracked and the You Had Me At Hello palette but decided three new colour pop palettes (not counting the two mini Pat McGrath shadow palettes) were PLENTY to play with. I love that Ulta carries a few of these.
