ColourPop Catnap & Puppy Love Super Shock Shadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Catnap
ColourPop Cat Nap Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark copper with hints of pink and copper sparkle over a metallic finish. It had semi-sheer coverage, which was not very buildable, unfortunately. This is a shade that would work best as an all-over wash of color or patted on top of another, more opaque eyeshadow to add sparkle and shine. I didn’t see any indication that was designed to be sheer on ColourPop’s website, as sometimes they release glittery, sheer shades. The texture was smooth, lightly wet, and blendable on the skin, and the eyeshadow wore for ten hours with minimal fallout.
This shade along with Puppy Love are both charity products, where all proceeds from the sale of both shades will be donated to “Best Friends Animal Society and their NKLA effort to Save Them All.” (All proceeds is always nice to see!)

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.
From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).
The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque in coverage, though they're often buildable. They can be a little hard to diffuse the edges of, though some are lovely to work with.
The more glittery shades have been the weakest to me, as they can be sheerer or harder to apply. Sometimes, they are more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often, they are sheerer and only function well patted on top of more pigmented eyeshadows to add glitter. They do, however, tend to have little fallout over time with the occasional shade having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most powder eyeshadows with glitter).

Puppy Love
ColourPop Puppy Love Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a soft, light peach with an iridescent pink to gold shift paired with a pearly sheen. It had good color payoff–almost opaque–and actually seemed smoother and more pigmented than the original release. It was easier to apply, too, to the lid and did not lose its coverage when blended unless intended! It wore well for ten hours without fading or creasing on me.

i bought them especially for the cause I love when brands do that. 🙂 I think it’s nice they made them workable for everyone 😀 I quite like them . Appreciating the review happy to see they got quite good grades 😀
Me too, Val! All proceeds is great.
I like Puppy love.
Awesome!
Bought them for the cause ♡
Yay!
Hmmm… not so fond of these shades simply because you would have lots of them in the various palettes you would own.
That’s true!
Ordered one of each on Friday. Cat Nap looks rather weak, though.
I will likely try to use Cat Nap with Seeker and Puppy Love as a shade to bridge the two shades together in a warm, coppery smokey eye look.
Too bad Colourpop didn’t just use Meow as their cat focused end of the charity, as it’s a tried and true eyeshadow!
I wish Cat Nap was listed as sheer or else more pigmented, but it is for a great cause at least!
Definitely a wonderful cause! ?
I have the original Puppy Love , it’s pretty, good cause too
It’s a fun one! How do you like to wear Puppy Love, Katherine?
For me, the original is kind of sheer to be used as a shadow, but can be used as a corner highlight, face highlight, or blush topper
Such pretty shadows! I love the cause behind this.
Me too! 🙂 I love that all proceeds go!
Too bad about Catnip. I have Puppy Love in the original release and haven’t found it to be very opaque. I think I will pick up another one because it is possible mine was just a dud. I have supported Best of Friends and their no kill shelters in the past and have been thinking about getting another cat from them. I have a soft spot for their “senior, long term” residents. I have had my eye on one of these senior girls with special care needs and after the holidays I think I will be making a trip to Kanab, Utah to see her in person.
It is so nice to hear from people who have worked with/used the charity and only have good things to say!
Those names… 🙂 Catnap is a very pretty shade, though I wasn’t convinced by the swatch.
They are well-named!
Such pretty shades!
They are! 🙂
I bought Puppy Love when it was originally released, despite already owning *literally* all the duochrome/color-shifting shadows I could ever need, to support Best Friends (they have an adoption center not far from where I live). Even though I’m not sure I like the shade, I already bought Cat Nap. And when ordering birthday gifts for a friend, I got both of them for her too!
It is a nice cause!
I’m disappointed Cat Nap isn’t more pigmented, but I’m happy to use it as a sheer wash as it supports a good cause.
Same here, J! I know CP sometimes has sheerer metallics/glittery shades, so I initially thought it was by design but then did not see any designation that was true 🙁
