Too Many Dupes to Put Up with Streaks

Color Club Fashion Moment Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep, eggplant, shade of purple.” It’s a deep, dark burgundy with hints of purple. China Glaze Urban-Night is lighter, purpler. Rescue Beauty Lounge Recherche is cooler-toned, purpler. Guerlain Lou-Ling is lighter. MAC Blueblood is very comparable. China Glaze Velvet Bow is redder. MAC Purple Majesty is very similar. Urban Decay Wrecked is also similar. Zoya Anja is a smidgen lighter. Rescue Beauty Lounge Drifter is lighter.

The color was mostly opaque after two coats, but the application was streaky, so without a really thick second coat, you could still see some of the streaks (like on my middle finger).  The formula was a little thin in consistency, though I did not have problems with it bubbling or pooling.  I typically see a week of wear with Color Club’s formula with minor tip wear but no chipping (without a base/top coat).  Sometimes one might be willing to put up with a less-than-stellar application for a more unique color, but Fashion Moment is incredibly dupable, so it’s hard to overlook.

For the same price, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Pat on Black is nearly exact, and has an amazing formula & brush. WnW also usually has something similar at any given time.

It’s funny, though, as I was just going through my polish over the weekend, and I have sooo many shades that are nearly identical to this.

This looks EXACTLY like Urban Decay Apocalypse, from the Apocalypse nail set. My favorite color (next to that vintage red creme F-Bomb from the same set). Application of Apocalypse can be iffy on the first coat, very streaky but the second really makes it look like the bottle: beautiful, blackened plum that can look black in low light.
