Clionadh Corrosion & Ornamental Glitter Multichrome Eyeshadows Reviews & Swatches

Corrosion

Clionadh Corrosion Glitter Multichrome Eyeshadow ($7.50 for 0.05 oz.) had a more coppery base and was packed full of pearl and sparkle that shifted from yellowy chartreuse to green to teal to bluish-violet. Per the brand, it had a “semi-sheer” base and was supposed to shift from “lime-turquoise-blue.” It had a light-to-moderate shift; I felt like I saw it go from more gold-copper to greenish-gold to aqua but found the bluish tone hardest to see.

It was still nearly opaque in coverage whether applied with fingertips or a dampened brush–as recommended by the brand–though I really didn’t struggle to apply it using a dry brush; I just patted and pressed it into place, and it had more medium to semi-opaque, buildable coverage. The fallout was more noticeable when I used it with a dry brush, though.

The texture had moderate glide to it, though it was more loosely-pressed and felt as delicate as the brand warned it would be (so use a light hand!). It wore well for eight and a half hours with slight fallout when applied with a fingertip and almost none when applied with a dampened brush.

Formula Overview

$10.00/0.05 oz. - $200.00 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to "apply relatively easy to the lid when patted on with a finger," but for "maximum longevity and intensity, apply over a set primer" or a "tacky base" for "larger-particle glitters." The brand goes on to stay that this formula can be applied with "your finger or a shader brush sprayed with setting spray" and then patted onto the lid. They also warn not to "dig" one's brush as they are "more delicate" in texture.

The base pigmentation varied from shade to shade, and the brand uses different particle sizes throughout the range, so some are finer and more pigmented and others may be more sparkly with a sheerer base. Keep in mind, the base being sheerer doesn't equate to a sheerer end product; the actual eyeshadows often appeared mostly opaque to opaque due to how packed they are with shimmer/sparkle--but it depended on the angle.

They end up being a bit more like traditional eyeshadow, since the bases have various colors (not black or transparent) with multichromatic shifts that varied from more intense to subtler. I felt like they were "easier" to use than the Jewelled Multichromes, especially if you're someone who uses more than a few shades at a time, though they have less of a high-shine finish and more of a twinkling/sparkling finish.

The texture was more loosely-pressed--definitely "delicate" as indicated by the brand--and worked best by patting or pressing onto the lid with a fingertip or a wet brush. They're still quite usable with a dry brush but definitely use a denser brush and a gentle pressing motion to pick up product. The texture itself was very soft, almost silky, and finely-milled; for has twinkling as the finish was, Clionadh's idea of "glitter" is more like fine sparkle.

The big difference with this formula is that the sheerer base makes them easier to sheer out for an all-over wash of color on the lid or diffused on the brow bone, but they can also be pressed into place without heavy blending for an intense, spotlight effect.

While setting spray or glitter glue would help to maximize longevity (by minimizing fallout over time), there was only light some fallout over time when pressed onto the lid with a fingertip and slight fallout applied with a dampened brush (wet with water) over eight to nine hours. The sparkles were finer and had better adhesion to bare skin, so the formula didn't need the most intense solution to minimize fallout in my experience.

Ornamental

Clionadh Ornamental Glitter Multichrome Eyeshadow ($7.50 for 0.05 oz.) has a semi-translucent, greenish base packed full of pearl and smaller sparkle that shifted from intense, greenish-gold to lime green to soft green paired with a sparkling, metallic finish. Per the brand, it had a “semi-sheer” base and shifted “from yellow gold-lime-turquoise.” I easily detected a very strong, almost orange-gold hue that turned to more lime-like (very green!) to more of a chartreuse.

The consistency was smoother, lightly emollient, and it wasn’t as heavy on the “glitter” (which is more sparkle, as it is not plastic glitter!), so it was less prone to fallout than many other shades in the range. It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin with minimal fallout when applied with a fingertip, and it had no fallout when applied with a dampened brush; these were the two ways recommended by the brand.

I know not everyone loves using fingertips or wet brushes, and using a dry brush was totally doable but had light fallout during blend but still yielded coverage that was even and buildable. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours with slight fallout over time.

I love these eyeshadows, but my huge problem with this brand is that nothing is ever available to purchase, things are always out of stock and aren’t replenished in the timely manner. You might be waiting for specific colors to come back in stock for months, meanwhile other colors also become unavailable. I understand this is an “indie” brand, but at this point with all the advertising and very high interest in the social media they need to seriously step up their game. This is becoming unacceptable and a huge turn off.

Totally understand! They closed recently to catch up on orders but also to move to a new space, so I have fingers crossed that they’ll be able to get through orders faster when they reopen!

Beautiful eye looks with sensational eyeshadows. I do understand the problems the brand is having with fulfilling orders etc. It’s very difficult when a brand’s products suddenly take off and they lack the infrastructure to keep the orders rolling. Moving to new premises will assist them and being in the middle of a serious pandemic doesn’t work in their favour either.

I already started my indie collection from Clionadh, Devinah Cosmetics, Terra Moons , and JD Glow, and Iā€™m blown away with the quality of their product.
