Clinique Ginger Pop (01) Cheek Pop Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
Ginger Pop (01)
Clinique Ginger Pop (01) Cheek Pop Blush ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a reddened coral with a subtle satin finish. Ginger Pop blends so beautifully on the skin, and as Clinique touts, it truly seems effortless to soften and sheer out the color, which is very pigmented and true-to-pan if desired. A little goes a long way, but the texture is forgiving and easy to blend out, so a full spectrum of skin tones should be able to work with this formula. The texture is soft and smooth, not at all powdery. It wore well for eight hours on me before showing signs of fading.
The formula is described as “vibrant yet natural-looking cheek colour that looks virtually powderless.” There is some magic at work with this formula; because it feels like a powder but applies, blends, and looks more like a cream-to-powder formula on the skin, but it’s definitely a powder.

Formula Overview
$21.00/0.12 oz. - $175.00 Per Ounce
The formula is described as “vibrant yet natural-looking cheek colour that looks virtually powderless.” The texture was smooth, soft, and dense, so it was never powdery in the pan or on the skin. The blush had good color payoff that was easily sheered out (or you could apply less, as the denser texture makes that easy to control).
It’s the kind of texture that almost blends itself as soon as you start applying and working it onto the skin. The finish became more luminous as I blended the powder onto the skin, but it was never shiny or overly shimmery, so it always looked smooth on my skin and did not emphasize pores or my skin’s texture. Most shades lasted between eight and nine hours on me.

Soooo lovely!
I’m SO happy that something as delicately designed as this is… is actually good!

I’m trying to tell myself that I don’t need this one when I have Burberry Blossom. I still want it, though. I will wait for the other reviews and see if those are just as good and hope that I like those shades even more.
I think if you have Burberry Blossom, you can skip this one. Blossom is AMAZING with an awesome texture, so this isn’t an upgrade, you know?
I was waiting for you to review this, and I’m glad you finally did. Ginger Pop is definitely a shade I’m usually drawn to, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. 🙂 By the way, the look you posted suits you really well, Christine. That pop of turquoise is brilliant!
Thank you so much, Precious!
That’s lovely! Can’t wait to see the others. What sort of brush did you use to apply, please?
I used Tom Ford’s Cheek Brush.
Nice choice 🙂 I reckon I’ll be okay with my MAC 116 blush brush (did wonder whether 130 would be better with this formula).
I think 116 or 131 would work just fine – if you find it’s TOO pigmented, go with the 131.
This sounds fantastic! Clinique has really been stepping it up lately.
Haven’t tried a lot of color from Clinique in the past few years, but I loved this one!
I just ordered this! Too cute for words! And seeing that the quality holds up made me pull the trigger (or, push the buttons). Can’t wait to see your reviews of the other colors.
Is the Marc Jacobs lip color one of the new ones for spring? The mattes are new, right? Review soon?
Yes, it is one of the new Marc Jacobs Matte Lipsticks. When I’m ready to review, I will review 🙂 I don’t like to commit to times or even to really commit to a review, as I want to make sure I don’t feel rushed while testing (as much as that’s possible!).
It’s pretty on you. I’m not sold on the MJ formula yet. Curious to read my review. Not sure I’ll ever bite again on that particular line. Love it on you though (and the Clinique blush…which I did get!!!!).
It’s definitely very different than the LoveMarc Lip Gels, at least! 🙂
Good to hear. I’ll be curious to read your reviews on the different shade/new formula. For $30 ….
Looks like a baked formula to me. Your description of the texture and the lack of a metal pan in the compact reminds me of the Physician’s Formula deluxe bronzers, the really pretty ones with the 3d sun on them. I tried to depot one and instead of a pan there was a rubber pad with holes through which the product extruded and attached to the actual compact. I imagine these blushes are much like that.
It is a baked formula – Clinique says they start as a liquid then slow bake to a powder, though it doesn’t feel like the popular ones on the market (MAC’s Mineralize or Estee Lauder Gelees).
Hi Christine, how do you feel this compares to MAC Hipness? Thanks!
I think Hipness is warmer and lighter!
Do you know when these will be available at counters? And Sephora?
They’re probably there now, but I would call your local store or counter. It’s already online at Sephora, so I’m sure you could use their store locator to see if it’s in stock locally.
I was in my local Sephora yesterday and looked for these…not there…bought one online this morning.
Woww..lovely
Your eybrows shape is just awsome.i want detailed tutorial of eyebrow reshaping from you.can you do a post on it?
http://www.temptalia.com/video-tutorial-defined-brows-filling-in-your-brows
Definitely will check these Cheek Pop Blushes out. LOVE the green eyeliner that you are wearing!
It’s probably my favorite eyeliner ever!
This product really interests me. I can’t wait to see how the others look like
I hope you find one that you like, Azaza!
Love everything about this blush! 🙂
I’m right there with you, Sarah!
I admit that the design alone is enough to make me want this! But I am really happy that it also performs so well! It’s really gorgeous 🙂
Me too 🙂
So pretty, but I could have sworn these were cream from the promo image. I’ll be checking these out!
They’re initially liquid, then slowly baked to a powder, per Clinique!
I’m kind of tempted to buy this just because of how cute the flower design looks.
And the quality is there, too!
What kind of brush would you recommend for application, Christine?
I used Tom Ford’s Cheek Brush with these!
What a cute blush! And just in time for spring (well, if you’re in the Bay Area, where we’ve had unusually warm temperatures).
Yes, I’m actually a little nervous now that it’s been SO dry. Either we’ll face drought issues and consequences or else maybe March/April will be nonstop downpours!
It’s so pretty! Even the flower pattern looks delicious. Nicely done, Clinique.
Definitely kudos to Clinique!
Wow, Clinique, I may actually be interested in a product from you! I love the shape of the actual product and the colour!
They’re pretty in the pan and perform nicely! It’s a miracle 😉
It’s just me or the packaging looks a little drugstore-like? However, i love the pigmentation and the colours range!
It is clear plastic, but it is heftier, thicker, and feels better than most drugstore compacts (which can feel flimsy).
yeah it reminded me of essence’s packaging
Exactly, I have the same impression. But this is the problem with Clinique generally.
As lovely as the quality/pigmentation appear, I won’t be buying any of these. This was the only shade I was interested in per the description, “rosy brown”, but it’s… ORANGE! I don’t see any rose, or brown, in the shade…
That’s too bad!
Well, maybe if these do well, they’ll expand the line? The colors all seem lovely, but they’re all so bright; hopefully they’ll include some subtle shades!
It’s nice to see Clinique get an A+ for a new product they’ve released! I’m a fan of the brand, but sometimes I think they could be a little bit more fresh! That color is great!
I’m a fan of the brand, too, but I tend to overlook their color cosmetics!
Thank you for the heads up about these being available at Sephora. I may have to check them out!
By the way, I am loving your “Temptalia” earrings!
No problem, Erin!
Thank you! They’re my new favorites!
I’m not a fan of the shade (I’d look like a have a 105 degree fever), but the formula looks wonderful. Plus, it’s super cute. I am definitely interested in checking out the other shades.
The formula is amazing!
I just ordered this one with the Rouge promo from Sephora! I can’t wait to get it…. so pretty!!!!!!!!!
Woohoo!!
Oh, I love your makeup here! The blush looks lovely! I’m glad because it was the only one that caught my eye! 🙂
Thank you, Maddie!
Lovely
Dear blogger can u do a post on eyebrows reshaping tutorial?
http://www.temptalia.com/video-tutorial-defined-brows-filling-in-your-brows
This formula sounds lovely. This particular shade won’t work for me, but I’m excited to see the others!
Hopefully at least one will work for you!
this is exactly what i’ve been looking for. not too pink, not too coral. this is PERFECT. Thank you for reviewing this, Christine!
Sure thing, Brittany! Always happy to help!
Its outstandingly stunning on u dear 🙂
n ur eyesssss
the whole look is so balanced n classy
Aw, thank you Rashmi!
What a lovely blush! I’m curious about the texture – it sure gives a very nice finish. As usual, you make a pretty product look even prettier 🙂 !
Thank you, Leticia! 🙂
Wow looks so pretty on you, and I love coral blushes but I have so many and wonder if this is unique enough to get.. I agree with another user when I first saw promo pics, I also thought of Physician Formula, maybe it looks better in person. I’m also a fan of your earrings (although I don’t have my ears pierced), do you make them yourself? They would make great gifts.
I didn’t make the earrings! They’re from here 🙂 https://www.etsy.com/shop/bellaanelajewelry
Ack! Pretty pattern in the pan, high performing gorgeous colour, and I’ve just managed to figure out (finally) how to apply blush on myself so http I like the effect! Want! 😀 I’m excited to see the other shades…
Wooo! You must be so happy that you’ve figured out blush application!
I’m dying to see that Chanel Intonation crème blush reviewed and swatched, along with the rest of the spring 2014 Chanel make up collection. Also, the coral lipstick is interesting. Wonder if it will be too orange lean more to the pink? I hope the latter. The Clinique flower blush is awfully pretty too. Hmmmnm, what to indulge in?!!!
I reviewed Chanel’s spring collection a few weeks ago — http://www.temptalia.com/category/brands/chanel-collections
Christine, do you know if these products are LE or Permanent?
As far as I know, they are permanent! Clinique’s site usually states limited edition but these were listed as “new.” Sephora also has them as “new.”
Honestly, I was going to buy this regardless just for the packaging…. Nice bonus that it is actually a fabulous product! A+ clinique
Woohoo!
It looks really nice on you. I’m so pale, I think I’ll opt for a pink tone. The formula sounds perfect too. Thanks!
Happy to share, Valerie!
oooh, that’s really pretty. I’ve been avoiding blush for a long time but have been starting to use some lately. This makes me want to go and get one! Very pretty and not too much color.
They’re really easy to use and buildable, Kelly!
I’m so glad this came out on top. I had just ordered it the other day, waiting for it to arrive. The design is so adorable. I picked up the Peach pop. Looks like I’ll be going back for more!
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts, Lisa!
I’m a sucker for lovely coral-pink blushes! This one is gorgeous and the packaging is cute. Almost too pretty to use. xD
You and me both, @An!
I love Clinique skincare (their stuff never makes me breakout!) but I haven’t really ventured into their color cosmetics except for one Chubby Stick (which is ok) and an eyeshadow duo that was a GWP (but I do like it a lot). I think I’m going to have to try some other stuff from their brand, now!
Thanks for the review, Christine! These bright coral colors look stellar on you!
My pleasure, Phoebe! 🙂
I’m a huge fan of Clinique, so happy to see these performed well! I’m definitely picking these when they launch here in Japan!
Hope they launch soon!
I really like the color and design! The formula sounds really nice too. I can’t wait for these to hit my local Sephora!
Can’t wait to see how they look on you, Fancie!
This blush looks so gorgeous on you! I thought these blushes were adorable when I saw the preview, but after reading your review, I’ve decided they are a must-have. I hope the others turn out to be just as good!
Thank you, Kristen! ;D
OH MY GOODNESS! This is absolutely adorable! Christine–I’m looking out for your other swatches!
Stay tuned!
I love the packaging and shade range of these! They look very spring/summer!
Definitely give off that summery vibe!
That’s a MUST HAVE for deeper skinned women. Picking it up ASAP!
Yay!
love the color of this blush! is the faq section a new addition? or have i just been blindly scrolling past it? haha
i really love that lip color!
Hi Amara,
We used to have it for a lot of posts, but I stopped wearing pretty much… well, anything but whatever was being reviewed in the post, so I stopped doing it. We also used to put info like where to buy it, was it limited edition/permanent there, but all that’s been absorbed into the Glossover system now. We just adjusted it a bit so that on the occasion where I am wearing additional products, I can put them in that space. 🙂 I think if you look at posts from 2011 or so you’ll see the FAQ more frequently.
This colour is absolutely beautiful! I would have never expected Clinique to come out with something like this! Fortunately, I don’t have a colour similar to this so I will definitely be picking this up! I want it sooooo bad now!
Yay!!
Would you say that Peach Pop or Ginger Pop gives a more natural looking flush?
Probably Peach Pop!
I’ve read a few reviews on this product, and the consensus seems to be they are pigmented. I’m confused because I received mine a few days ago…and it’s not that pigmented. It’s rather sheer and takes several layers to get it to show up (I’m very fair too). I’ve used synthetic and natural blush brushes. It swatches beautifully on the skin because it has this creamy powder consistency, but I cannot get the product to pick up well on the brush.
What do you use to apply this product? Maybe I’m doing something wrong?
Hi Stacey,
I’ve used MAC’s 131 and Tom Ford’s Cheek Brushes with it!
You guys, does anyone know if this is going to be LE??
Thank you! =)
Permanent!
Hi Christine,
Since I own CORAIL BAGATELLE I THINK I CAN SKIP.
Good call!
