Going Luxe: Cle de Peau Leonardis (R3) Extra Rich Lipstick

Cle de Peau Leonardis (R3) Extra Rich Lipstick ($60.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a soft pinked coral with subtle gold micro-shimmer. The color applies opaque in a single pass with a smooth, even finish. Extra Rich Lipsticks are absolutely a luxury item; they are head to toe decadence. The texture is incredibly smooth and creamy without being slippery or heavy. It imparts a nice level of moisture on lips and never feels drying. The formula also de-emphasizes lip lines after about fifteen minutes of wear. I get between four and six hours of wear.

Is this a color you would wear — if money were no object, of course?

  • Product: 30/30
  • Value: 7/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 5/5

FINAL THOUGHTS: The faceted lipstick tube with its corners and edges makes it easire to get crisp, defined lines when applying, and the formula itself is fantastic. Just enough glide to apply beautifully without sliding off. Cle de Peau is a luxury brand, and the price ultimately reflects that, but I am pleased to note that it contains 0.14 oz., which is slightly more than the average lipstick. Worth it? It is more about whether it’s a color you’ll love, wear often, and feel good about every time you wear it.

Totally agreed. I am such a make-up junkie and especially love lipsticks and glosses but $60 is beyond outrageous. SKIPPING this one…

So, there’s this little Japanese mall near me. It’s mostly a food court, with some small counter service restaurants, a bakery, and a big sushi restaurant (their Japanese grocery sadly closed). But they also have a beauty store that sells two brands: Shiseido and Cle de Peau.

I didn’t know there was Cle de Peau available anywhere near me! I just discovered this last week. I never thought I’d buy it because I don’t buy stuff I can’t play with in person, and you know, the prices. But MAN…now I am so tempted. It is a ten minute WALK from me.

This is really my kind of color, too, of course. I didn’t spend too much time at the store when I discovered it, because as I was about to buy a Shiseido cream shadow I realized my credit card was missing and freaked out (found it at home happily!). But I have every intention of going back and swatching the crap out of these lipsticks. I may just have to save up for this one.`

omg do you mean J-Town? Sorry if it’s not, but sounds exactly like that.

That colour looks absolutely gorgeous, but I’d never, never lay out $60 USD for a lipstick. It doesn’t matter how awesome or unique the shade is. It’s so posh it’s square and cut like a gem and embossed! Very luxe.

Only thing I really indulge in (wish I’d thought to comment on a previous post that asked this) is Dr. Hauschka floral deodorant. $27 CAD. Because made of good ingredients, smells awesome, and works.

I don’t actually remember what the store is called! But it’s the Boston area and the whole plaza/building is called the Porter Exchange.

That is truly gorgeous – I would love to try it, but I have no Saks near me. Either way it is too much for my wallet! Thanks for the swatches Christine!

Whoa…$60 for a Lippie!! I still work at my same old place..:(
As much as I wanted to hit the LOVE IT button, the Price tag made me hit the LEAVE IT one…Its a pretty color though, no doubt.

$60 for a lipstick? It’s definitely “extra rich” alright…with that price tag!

No matter how much I like a colour, I’d never buy a luxury lipstick like this. It’s fun to see it from afar – nice swatches!

I think it’s a lovely color but it wouldn’t look good on me.

$60 is past my limit for one lipstick I’m afraid, even if it has a bit more product. Tom Ford ($45) is my *absolute* limit for lipstick, and I haven’t even bought any of them yet since I like so many of the colors and can’t decide which 1 or 2 to get. *sigh*

The color is pretty, but OMG, the price is very very scary. I can’t believe anyone would pay that much for a lipstick. Does it do wonders on the lips? Wow, this is the most expensive lipstick I’ve seen.

I always look forward to your Cle de Peau posts, but at the same time, I always regret having looked at them. lol I love CdP products, but they are just so pricey. They embody a luxury brand for me. I love their stuff.

Polly Avatar

This shade looks so beautiful on you <3

Why do all CdP lipsticks have to be EXTRAORDINARY pretty cool!? Their shades? Flattering. Their texture? Amazing. Their price? Oh…well

I have a bad feeling that I will collect most of all shades they offer…

I've just grabbed 2 CdP lippie in the last 2 weeks and I can't afford anymore of them this month. I'm BROKE!

But still I got some on my wish list. They are T1 or T3, T5, and R3(this shade is just added, lol) and some more in Extra Silky line; 105, 109, and 119.

Luckily, my dad never allow me to have a credit card, or else I would be bankrupt!

Those lipsticks are sooooo beautiful, I think I’ll be picking up the red one pretty soon. Lipstick is the one luxery object I splurge on because I know I’ll wear lipstick even if I don’t wear any other kind of make up…it’s really nice sometimes to still be a HS student and living with my mum but have a job-lots of disposable income. In a couple years I won’t be able to afford something like this!

Nadia Avatar

Pretty colour but I really don’t think any lipstick is worth $60. Foundation? Absolutely worth paying for quality because good skin can make all the difference when it comes to makeup application and appearance but lipstick? Nah.

margot Avatar

Oh boy, $60 for a lipstick, I almost had a heart attack !! Though it’s a gorgeous color, I am not sure I could ever justify spending that much on a lipstick, wish I could afford it though 🙂
Seeing the picture, I would have thought the edges made it feel weird on the lips at first. But at the same time, you are right, must make crisp lines easier, would make sense haha.

morena123 Avatar

$60??? How much higher are they going to go, for the price of a lipstick?
I bet as muchas people are willing to pay, huh.
DId u buy that one cristine or was it sent from PR?? Do you get paid to review makeup????

Sarah Avatar

Oh man oh man… If I had a budget that would allow me to spend this much on a lipstick, this one looks like it would definitely be worth it! I can’t let myself EVER see this in person, or my budget is in big trouble! Absolutely beautiful product and shade. Thanks for reviewing this and letting me live vicariously through you!

I love this but I think it would lean more red on me (and the suggested dupes didn’t work for me). Do you have Chicago Peach? I’m wondering how they might compare, if at all. Thanks!
