Cle de Peau Champagne Supernova (304) Eyeshadow Quad Review, Photos, Swatches
Cle de Peau Champagne Supernova (304) Eye Color Quad
Cle de Peau Champagne Supernova (304) Eye Color Quad ($55.00 for 0.21 oz.) is an interesting mix of lighter, spring-y shades that aren’t quite pastel, but they’re not brights either. This quad seemed very shimmery, almost metallic, at times, and I would have loved to see one darker, more contrasting shade instead of one of the lighter shades (perhaps the gold). I had minor, but noticeable, fall out with two of the four shades, which was disappointing. I think a primer would help kick this one up a notch more so than some of the other variations I’ve tried.
Also, keep in mind that the price is for the refill only; the case is sold separately ($25). I keep mine in Z-Palettes with a magnetic strip on the back, which has worked just fine for me! Another way to do it is to purchase one case for traveling with a particular quad but not a case for each and every one you may have.
Champagne Supernova #1 is a light-medium, yellowed gold with a frosted, lightly metallic, finish. It had fairly good color payoff that was blendable and adhered well to the skin. It could have been just slightly smoother all in all. It wore well for eight hours but had a little bit of fall out. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Champagne Supernova #2 is a light-medium, neutral-to-warm-toned purple with a soft, golden frosted shimmer. It had nice pigmentation (though not fully opaque) with a soft, blendable consistency that was easy to work with. The color started to fade after eight hours of wear. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Champagne Supernova #3 is a light-medium, taupe brown with warm, golden metallic sheen and fine golden bronze sparkle. The texture was soft but on the looser side and felt almost dry. It had good pigmentation, but I wish it was smoother. It lasted for eight hours on me but had a bit of fall out. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Champagne Supernova #4 is a light-medium, chartreuse green with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It’s a more subdued take on chartreuse, so it can be easier to wear if you’re not used to brighter shades. The texture was soft and silky, while it had good color payoff. It started to fade after eight hours of wear. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

90’s flashback..Oasis.. can’t get song out of head…argh!
Haha!
I thought the same thing… I can see the video in my head…
Gah! I used to LOVE that song! LoL
Great symbolic song! I loved the nineties! 😀 Musically I’m all over though, more love for the 60’s & 70’s. Random info.
Lol! Such good memories! Man, I wish I could be that age for a day. Thanks for the smile Wendy!:)
I feel you, Nicole! I loved those days! Thanks for the memories! 🙂
I like the name.
At least there’s that!
This is pretty! I agree, I would like a darker shade too. I could probably dupe it with my current stash. Not sure if it would get year round wear..hmm. I will be thinking about this one. Did you do any looks for this ? I don’t see it in the photos.
I did, but I can’t determine which photo set it is – basically, I shot and tested these last year and 85% of the time, I remember to label everything the same day I shoot… but then there are days I forget and then they sit and sit – and when you do this and have 12,000 unedited photos, they get lost 🙁 I’m better than I used to be, but stuff still falls through.
No worries! I was just wondering if you forgot. The more I thought about it, I don’t think I would get wear out of this to warrant the cost. The frosted finish- I’ m not into. I have mufe Linden green to dupe the green and a several dupes for the other shades. So, I’m good here. I really am thinking hard about Silver Eclipse. But, you rated I think one shade pretty poor,so I’m on the fence. Its more of a fall quad .so,i have time. Maybe they will realease something better or an updated version. The color combo is so up my alley!
The packaging is very elegant, and I like the soft wash of colors, especially the chartreuse green, but not seeing a complete eye look out of this. A lot of times, I scratch my head when I see the color combos that Cle de Peau comes up with in their quads. I would like to own one someday, but not seeing one yet that wows me enough to pay that much for it.
They definitely lean softer, I think!
I kinda like the lime green but overall these just aren’t my colors.
I like how it’s not SUPER neon!
This quad is really pretty… but I don’t think I could bring myself to pay this much for four shadows!
Totally understand! 🙂
Definitely an interesting and sweet colour combination. I’ve always wanted to try Cle de Peau but have often been put off by the high price. I think I would start off with the highlighters though. 🙂
At least the combo is interesting 🙂
Oddly enough, I like it.
Yay!
You know, I love Cle de Peau’s concealor, silky cream foundation, & mascara- but their skin care, eyeshadows, lipsticks, & blush are just BLAH.
I can’t recall if I’ve ever tried their blush, but I have liked their lipsticks in the past!
That purple is so pretty!
It is!
This is a pretty quad for summer. They should have made the lavender bit darker for the crease, though.
That would have been better!
This one has such beautiful shades in it, and quite an unusual combo too! But at only a B+ and with the very high price for a quad that’s made very pricey primarily because one has to buy its case separately makes it a big “NO” for me.
Definitely needs to be an A at this price point!
Thank you for reminding me of Hoodoo! This.. Is beautiful. It reminds me of gelato or a dredging cocktail of sorbet colors. 🙂 Champage Supernova in Marmalade Skirs across A Baby Universe.. They are singing! But I am still confounded by a perplex wth from ColourPop! I cannot figure it out! It’s unnerving!!! But oh so fantastic! I feel an addiction. :O
Time to play with Hoodoo, right?
Bingo. 🙂 :/ I’m more amped to play with ETK 01 and 34 together! 😀
Oh, how I love my Hoodoo! Seemed like it had to get broken in with my brush a bit before it became “perfect”, but now it’s like buttah!
Thanks, Nancy! I’ll keep that in mind! 🙂
Sweet colours but for $55, I expect better quality and a bit more drama. I think I could probably get these types of shades in drugstore products that are much cheaper.
I wish they were better performing across the board 🙁
It is a summer pastel range – that last colour is interesting: not quite a mint, not quite a chartreuse. However for the price, I think we all have these colours in our various larger palettes.
More than likely! 🙂
I really like it. Especially the green. But I would not buy it! Even just on the principle that I’m not supporting how they make you buy the $25 case too…
I mean, at least you have the option of ditching the very expensive compact, LOL.
I really like no 2, not getting a quad for one shadow, though. No 4 is also nice, but there are quite a lot of chartreuses, something I just need to get.
Chartreuse is an underrated eyeshadow color!
Oh! I have the original CdP quads that have their writing, kind of, and the first shade is larger.. Did these replace and are the formulas and containers compatible? Thank you! 😀
I think they are still around, though I don’t know if they’re just selling through before discontinuing. I believe the containers are different, and I know the formulas are different.
I think you’re right, I’ve seen some! Could you possibly expand upon the differentiation in formulas? Have they improved or gone down? 🙂 a Thank you!
I think they’ve improved, but I’ve only tried maybe one or two of the older ones.
