Cle de Peau Baby Universe (303) Eyeshadow Quad Review, Photos, Swatches

Cle de Peau Baby Universe (303) Eye Color Quad ($55.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a more mid-tone set of warm-toned neutrals that’s also a bit less frosted than some of the quads in the range. The major upside to the Cle de Peau formula is how blendable and silky in feel it is, which makes it easy to apply to the lid, and the formula adheres well to the skin without a primer. I liked this quad, but it’s certainly dupable as there are so many neutral quads and palettes to choose from these days.

Also, keep in mind that the price is for the refill only; the case is sold separately ($25). I keep mine in Z-Palettes with a magnetic strip on the back, which has worked just fine for me! Another way to do it is to purchase one case for traveling with a particular quad but not a case for each and every one you may have.

Baby Universe #1 is a muted, medium-dark brown with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a really silky, soft powder consistency, but it was a little powdery to work with. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Baby Universe #2 is a light-medium, peach with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had good color coverage paired with a soft, silky texture that applied well and sat beautifully on the skin. The shade stayed on well for eight hours. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Baby Universe #3 is a muted, medium-dark purpled taupe with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had so-so pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that was a smidgen powdery. It lasted for eight hours before fading. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Baby Universe #4 is a muted, medium-dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and a frosted finish. It had excellent pigmentation with a really smooth, buttery texture that was so easy to work with. It wore well for eight and a half hours before creasing slightly. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

This is so pretty! I own a couple of these and really like them. I know they can blend into oblivion if you blend them too much, but that is ok by me, cause I’m lazy and hate blend amd blend and blend.

Well, you sure have more than me, so obviously can have a better opinion/more informed. Have Satin Moon and Stellar Gaze… So a real every day neutral like this one would be a good adition… You tempted me too much! I was decided to pass on this one.. Sigh…

These are very pretty shades. But, for a palette in this price range, I feel like I would want to be able to grab it alone. Otherwise, I could personalize a MUFE palette. These seem like all midtone shades to me. I would like for it to have a deep and a light shade in there. I will be passing. Thanks for reviewing! 🙂

Hey, Christine sorry for the second comment! I know Cle De Peau had another palette out with deep puples and silvers in the past. I had seen it last winter on Youtube. But, I didn’t catch the name of it. I kinda breezed over it when the price hit me. But, I didn’t realize that $25 was the compact. I was wondering if you may know what it is by that very brief description. I totally understand if you do not. If you reviewed it, I would like to see what kind of marks it got. It may be something I would like for fall. Thanks doll!

That’s a beautiful neutral eye you did! But I now need retract my Beatles philosophy or my debt will destroy the world. Baby Universe? Really, CdP? Ok, keep the names coming you tease! Bahhhhhhhhh!
Plus side! OMG. I received ColourPop yesterday, the second heavier box being retrieved from post office as we speak, but the smaller one with eyeshadows and lippies came.. Overwhelmed and tired, I only tried one to see how it felt, search the hand. It was Birthday Girl.. WHAT! It’s… wet! I was beyond beside myself and had to stop there or I would have gone crazy. Pacing to prevent purchases. This is not comparable to anything! WHAT IS IT?! I’m fascinated!! Ok, mind blown. On the wagon. I feel foolish. $5. WHAT! After forever hours at doc today, I’m digging in! The closest thing I can say it feels like is a Korean Cushion product. And on my pale skin, Birthday Girl came of a rose gold and the swatch stayed all day and then subtly gradually was gone. I’m shocked! Now I can’t wait to try to get my big blush/highlight box here, being picked up now, and play!!! I’m sweeter than s cupcake, my personal little card… What a cool company! <3 XOXO! Thank you! I'd never be in toy land without you! 😛

YAYYYY! How exciting. It’s squishy – definitely a cream eyeshadow – but almost like clay or Playdoh (which never seems like a compliment, but it’s not an insult, lol!) and the way it applies is more like a powder (almost as if it turns to powder when it hits the skin). Here’s hoping you keep enjoying your haul!

Now that’s what I’m talking about, those ColourPop goodies! So very happy for you, Lotus! Can hardly wait until Monday when I place my 1st order with them! I do, however, wonder how their shipping timetable works? Not sure if it’s a quick turnaround or slow as a snail?

Katherine T. Avatar

Based on heavy demand, I thought it was going to take them a long time to ship, but I think it only took a week to get my stuff, and I ordered a lot of stuff -shadows, blushes, lippies, lipliners. I’m so thrilled, that I will be back for a 2nd big haul

Nancy T Avatar

Thank you, Katherine T.! One week sounds pretty good to me. I was worried because I won’t be home the weekend of the 12th-14th, but if I put my order in the 1st, now I won’t be so nervous.

Lotus Avatar

Hi Nancy!!! 😀 Ok, my experience: One week to process, one extra week to arrive. And OMG! I’m LATE to trying these babies! I see you are now just going for it as well! May I please just quote, “Now that’s what I’m talking about! Those ColourPop goodies!”, thank you so much!!! Before Washing up tonight I just had to try ONE more, as I never know when I’ll get the energy…. I tried Beauty Call eyeshadow! It made my night! Goodies is an understatement! I’m so very happy!! Thank you! Never have I experienced such perfection! I wa hoping to dupe some way past favorites and these exceed that marginally! I looked like a giant eyed doll! It made me feel so good to see ME again! So gorgeous… The Birthdsy Girl I was only able to search yesterday was much more wet and totally different. I guess because Beauty call is a matte? But it is pure pigment! And for the shy, it sheets so beautifully! I’m now very excited about my giant haul and making an effort to play with something new every day! But I think I chose a handful of the only ones I really needed.. I will not become addicted.. I will not keep ordering… Now I understand the hype! Your being happy for me makes me even happier for you! I hope all the goodness and cheer each box brings you lights up your world! 😀 :* xoxo!

Now this one looks so much nicer than the CDP one from yesterday! But I will skip because for one thing, I am fairly overwhelmed by the semi-glut of neutral/nude shadows already in my stash! LoL! And for another, for me to ever drop that much on a quad AND it’s holder case, it had better be A+ all the way. Especially now with so many better options available, like MUFE and a few others.

The colors are nice, but not very exciting, and I can see the colors getting muddy if you blend too much. At this price, I want to be wowed
