Clarins Nude (01) Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Nude (01)
Clarins Nude (01) Eyeshadow Palette ($43.00 for 0.20 oz.) is consists of four powder eyeshadows that are supposed to be usable both wet and dry and have long-wearing results. It’s a peachy twist on neutrals–not quite orange, not quite pink. I like that there was a really deep shade, which made it more versatile and added much-needed contrast to the palette. While you can apply them wet or dry, I only felt one of the four shades really benefited from damp application significantly, so it is definitely wearable if you prefer to use your eyeshadows dry.

Nude #1
Nude #1 is a light-medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a frosted finish. It had good pigmentation both dry and damp, but the damp application made it appear lighter and brighter as the shimmer was brought to the forefront. The consistency was smooth, firm without being stiff, and blendable on the lid. I noticed signs of fading after eight hours of wear.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have "intense color payoff" and be "crease-proof" for 12 hours. Most shades had semi-opaque to opaque coverage, while a few shades--often those with more shimmer--tended to be sheerer compared to the more matte shades.
The consistency felt almost cream-to-powder, as the formula felt more emollient and velvety to the touch without being powdery, which made most of the textures firmer compared to a lot of other formulas on the market. For the most part, this translated to application that didn't have any fallout and was blendable, but it sometimes required using a slightly heavier-handed approach to pick up product evenly or to get fuller coverage (if desired).
They did not last 12 hours on me, though, which is on the upper end of wear time I've gotten out of any powder eyeshadow. Most of the shades lasted between eight and nine hours with a few being shorter-wearing than that range.

Nude #2
Nude #2 is a muted, medium-dark rosy copper with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. Applied dry, it was softer, though still rather pigmented. Applied damp, it was darker and more shimmery with slightly more pigmented. The eyeshadow was easy to apply to the lid, blend out, and diffuse. It wore for eight hours on me.

Nude #3
Nude #3 is a medium taupe with a hint of gray in its reflective sheen but with warmer undertones. It had a lightly pearlized, sparkly finish. The texture felt soft, was mostly blendable, but it also seemed drier, and I felt like it had to be applied with a damp brush to really go on evenly. This shade had a greater color and opacity difference between dry and damp application with damp application yielding darker and opaque coverage. It started to fade after seven and a half hours on me.

Nude #4
Nude #4 is a deep brown with subtle, warm, reddish undertones and a satin finish. The pigmentation was mostly opaque dry, but the color appeared warmer and lighter as well. When I tried it damp, it was deeper, richer, and totally opaque. The powder had a firmer feel in the pan, but I had no trouble getting product onto the brush or blending it out on the skin. This shade wore well for eight hours on me.

This looks so sophisticated… I like it a lot!
So glad you like it!
I love the colour combinatino in this palette – I find the shadows applied better when wet!
Do you like using your eyeshadows damp?
While I have somewhat similar products for 3 of the shades, they are in different formulas and across multiple palettes. I’m digging this all-in-one compact, and that gorgeous ruddy brown, in additon to shades 1 and 2. It’s on the wish list for 2017. Lovely eye look, as usual, Christine.
Thank you, Tracey!!
I like it! A lot!
Awesome!
I like the mix of shimmer and matte, and that it includes light, mid-tone and deep shadows, all of which IMHO is what is needed to make a successful all-in-one palette. Unfortunately in this case #2 is definitely too warm for me, and although I might be able to use the others, when there are only four shadows in a palette, I need to be able to use all of them.
I agree – you should be able to use all four easily!
Wow, I’m normally not into neutrals, but I like the color combo here, looks like it could be very versatile for day or night looks! And yes, those peach shades are very nice, in lieu of the beiges we normally see
I think it would be great for day or night!
I only like #3 and #4. So it’s a pass for me, but gosh your eye look is beautiful! !
Thanks, Shannon! 🙂
Another really nice one from Clarins! I love the soft, yet still well defined eye look you were able to put together using this quad! Very pretty!
Thank you, Nancy!
#3 was my fave here, I think I would still prefer the Rosewood one out of the ones I’ve seen.
I think Rosewood is my favorite, too!
This is a perfect all round little gem for those who can wear these shades. Just love a good taupe.
Every time I meet someone who doesn’t love taupe, it feels like a dagger to the heart!
It’s nice to see the pretty peachy shades instead of the same old same old neutrals.
I agree!
Pretty, would be good for a subtle romantic look or even for work.
You are right on, Claire!
I personally can’t stand the idea of wet-dry formulas. Give me that pigmentation and blendability right off the bat, or give me death!
Totally understand, Allison! I do prefer more pigmented from the get-go as well!
The pigment is very good. This palette can go with any skin color and type.
