I thought this might be a fun collection, but I’m a pass.
Just curious about what prompted Ciaté to do a line of makeup based on a character from such an old film. Is Jessica Rabbit suddenly popular again for some reason that I haven’t heard about?
In any case, many of the swatches look rather iffy. Definitely not worth $75. The shade that attracts me the most (Toon Kisses) looks just plain bad.
I’m really excited about this. I love Jessica Rabbit, but I don’t need any of this. I’m also on a low buy, so I have to be selective in what I purchase. I’m really torn.
Girl saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame :’( tryna pan down my collection to see if i can justify getting it if it goes on sale
I’m just confused about how a fictional character can do a collaboration.
The same way dead people can, such as Selena, Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Man Ray, etc… We’ve seen many of those over the past few years…
As a joke? People have been treating Jessica Rabbit like a real person in a tongue-in-cheek way ever since the movie came out. And their marketing for this goes over the top with that in (IMO) the best possible way. It’s a fun thing to do.
The design of the lipstick bullet looks like a copycat of Lisa Eldridge’s great lipstick. Tsk tsk tsk.
Ciate’s Glitter Storm lipsticks came out last year; they were teasing in early November (11/3), before Lisa Eldridge announced hers (11/15 on Instagram, 11/23 on YouTube) based on social media postings between the two brands. Edited to add: It seems like they launched pretty much in the same time period, so it’s possible they share the same manufacturer, but it’s not like Ciate saw them release and then pushed theirs out months later.
I absolutely love this collaboration. I purchased all three items when they went live on ASOS yesterday. I am an 80’s child and Roger Rabbit was a favourite of mine when I was a child and tbh it was the packaging that sold this to me, both to use and as a collectors item. I also love reds and purples, so this collection was definitely made for me. I also heard that the formula in Ciaté last palette was really good, so I am expecting good things from these. Their glitter flip lipsticks are also really good and I own several, so I feel that the lipstick will be brilliant as well. I love that they have used JR for this collection, I feel it is glamorous but also not childish, like some makeup brands have become.
I love Jessica Rabbit, but that eye palette looks pretty dismal.
I have no idea what I’m looking at – my first coherent thought was WTF?!
Hard pass for me.
Those swatches for the palette look terrible 🙁
I would have expected a Jessica Rabbit palette to be more… vivid. The lipstick is beautiful, although it looks like it could be uncomfortable if you can really feel those sparkles.
I thought Ciate was above matching an eyeshadow palette to an old film/cartoon that hardly anyone has heard of…..Anyway, this doesn’t look so good and again, lots of pinks/oranges/mauve tones….
Hush! That hardly anyone has heard of? Jessica is beloved the world over!!! 😉
In all seriousness, when I first saw this, my first thought was “it’s about time!” Not to be argumentative, but Who Framed Roger Rabbit was a lot more than just a film cartoon — it was a ground-breaker in so many ways, as well as being a huge hit commercially, and technically outstanding; there was really nothing close to it prior to it hitting the screen. I don’t want to come across as mean or troll-ish, but calling it “an old film/cartoon” is like calling “2001: A Space Odyssey” a dated sci-fi flick, or calling “The Godfather: Part II” an outmoded crime film.
I’m kind of shocked that this is the first time (in my knowledge) that anyone has made a line based on it. It deserves a lot more attention than the average “Disney Princess” movie! (Though it was really designed for adults, unlike the Disney movies, which can have adult elements to keep parents interested while watching with their kids, but aren’t 100% aimed at them.)
Anyways, WFRR is a classic in every sense of the word, and Jessica is an icon. I’m happy this set exists, though I wish the eyeshadows were more impressive (but who knows, maybe they wear better than they swatch).
I’m bummed that the highlighter has silicone in the formulation. Not all of Ciate’s other highlights do, but this one means I won’t be picking it up. Bummer.
Does anyone else think the palette looks quite similar to the glitter storm one from the holidays?
“Who Framed Roger Rabbit” was a really popular movie in the U.S. in the late 80’s. It’s definitely a part of our pop culture! Jessica Rabbit was voiced by the great Kathleen Turner.
After the Glitter Storm palette I had high hopes for this but it looks like they forgot to add the pigment. The lipstick and highlighter are pretty for… someone.
I do not if I will buy the Jessica Rabbit Eyeshadow palette after seeing those swatches. I hope they apply better on the lids. I feel disappointed. I was really excited about this palette.
For $162 Australian Dollars it’s absolutely a pass for me. I can’t justify that kind of money on something that looks like it might only be okay for my pale skin. I love the movie ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’ but at the same time, Ciate’s pricing doesn’t translate well to the Australian market, $72 for the palette, $38 for the lipstick, and $52 for the highlighter from ASOS AU. I could probably get it cheaper if I wanted via an international retailer but I’m not sure that’s worth the shipping price either.
