Christian Louboutin Scarabee Nail Colour for June 2015
Christian Louboutin Scarabee Nail Colour
Scarabee Nail Colour ($50.00) (Limited Edition)
Christian Louboutin found his muse in a key piece of Egyptian iconography, the scarab beetle. The iridescent beauty and wonder of this creature sacred to the Pharaohs, inspired three new shades of nail colour—the Scarabée Limited Edition Collection. “They can look beautiful and reflective under the bright sun but also look like a precious jewel by night” says the designer.
- Scarabee I Nude pink gold
- Scarabee II Violet blue
- Scarabee III Green bronze
Availability: Now at Sephora, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Nordstrom
Eh, can’t say I’m too excited, however, I wasn’t excited when the nail polishes launched in the first place. I just can’t get over the price of $50 for a bottle of nail polish which contains colors that can be found from any other brand, AND, other brands last longer and look better once applied (I know this based on reading reviews and having friends who tried CL polishes). I mean, if you have the money and like to collect these pieces (as they are beautiful) then go ahead, but otherwise, it’s such a waste of money!
Exactly! Maybe I’m just not a real “nail polish” person but I’m perfectly happy with OPI and Zoya and I can’t help thinking how much real makeup pleasure I could buy with that 50 bucks (polish just isn’t as big a passion as, say, eyeshadow or lippie or other items)
I’m used to seeing DS/budget brands “taking inspiration” from HE/luxury brands, but to see the opposite is kind of amusing, LOL! Sally Hansen did assimilar collection a few years back (I’m quite certain they weren’t the first), and the collection even had a similar title!
Honestly, even if I got one of these polishes as a gift, I’d consider either exchanging it for something else (“real” makeup, LOL!), or even regifting it. I just can’t stomach this pricetag, and want nothing to do with it.
They look so cool! But I feel guilty buying the 28$ Chanel polish. I am definitely not ready to shell out 50 for this tiny bottle of paint, which is marketed more like an object of art.
Love the colours but that packaging…! You could probably take someone’s eye out with that.
If you’re short-sighted, like me, you could take your OWN eye out with it!
LOL!
LOL!
Should definitely be banned from airplanes LOL
I have the feeling this collection is trying to jump on the wagon of an already defunct trend…it’s also not necessarily the type of finish I’d imagine on the nails of Loboutin customers, if that makes sense!
I feel like you might think the customers are uptight and prim & proper? So far from it! Check out any spiked peep toe platforms & you’ll see an array of much edgier, colorful shoes! There are no boundaries! 🙂 I love them!
These look sooo pretty! I am tempted. I was not interested in the Christian Louboutin nail polish thus far. But the nail photos of these on Nordstrom are almost enough to seal the deal. I just need to see some real life swatches – soon!
Ditto!!
Gorgeous shades! I feel like I’ve seen Chanel release similar colors like this in previous seasons.
First thought was “ooh, pretty” and then second thought was “we’ve seen all of these before.” Sacrabee I and II MAC did ages ago and III is yet another dupe of Chanel’s Peridot. Disappointing for this price point.
I really appreciate high end brands and mainstream brands getting in on more adventurous colours and textures, I think those colours have been done before (and better) by ILNP and kbShimmer both – those two brands really took multichrome polishes to a new level!
The iridescent colors look pretty, especially the blue, and I like the Egyptian scarab theme, but not paying $ 50 for a bottle of nail polish
So pretty! But there are some indie brands at about a fifth of the price doing some awesome colors like this (ILNP!), so my bank account insists I stick with those. 🙂
$50? C’mon now!
Beautiful but not at that price point. There are a ton of indie polish companies that make colours like this for 1/10th the cost.
The presentation on these polishes is gorgeous, but I feel like these are colors we have seen over and over again in the last few years. I just can’t see spending $50 on something you can most likely dupe with a much cheaper polish.
These colors are very pretty, but totally dupable. I really dislike the design of the handle, the base is too wide which makes it difficult to see the brush when applying the polish. For $50, I expect more.
If I wore nail polish I’d take these babies! Anything remotely beetle-like in reference to opalescent shifts really have an attachment with me! They could have added more like the Armani ETK Intense Scarabee LE collection did! 🙂
How about wearing these on your toes?!
Still super overpriced but you can’t deny they look really gorgeous! Look forward to seeing more.
I can’t wait to see the dupe lists!
MAN. The blue one is really cool. But I still can’t justify spending more than $10 on a polish because of how much I beat up my hands.
Nailpolish isn’t really my thing, especially at $50 a bottle, but dam these look cool 0_o
I feel like Louboutin is very, very late to the nail polish party. Duochromes are so 2013! Haha
My heart says yes, my wallet says no.
So pretty!!!
Looks awesome, but fifty $ for nail polish ??!! That’s outrageous
Beautiful!!
IHLP (I *heart* Nail Polish) does this look as well or better at under $13 a bottle, so sorry, Christian, no buy for me. And no need to show off a $50 “stiletto” bottle chez Catherine’s vanity tray either. My dogs would not be impressed in the least, Royal Spaniels or not, LOL! YMMV, of course, so please enjoy if that’s your pleasure.
Typo alert…that should be IHNP…as in I heart Nail Polish. Duh!
It’s ILNP. 🙂 I Love Nail Polish. But yes, you’re totally right, they have quite a range of good multichromes!
Better stay on for a month or self apply for that price. I have a $5.99 Julie G polish that is very similar to that third one.
Beautiful! But if I can’t have the $1000 pair of shoes that goes with the polish I’ll pass on the polish… maybe just one as a Bday gift.
Why not? 😀 Thank you, Deborah! 🙂
At $50 a bottle, with a lid that looks like a pointy weapon – sorry, but no.
Although I love the teal colour – OPI/China Glaze has it too.
Ohhh, I love jewel-colored beetles!! Cool colors and bottles…but $50…nope!
LOL, everybody from China Glaze to Nails Inc did these exact same colors three years ago!
These shades are sooo OLD. Just about everyone has already done these before ; Sally Hanson, China Glaze, etc. Plus that crazy $50 price tag for NAIL POLISH. Not a palette of eyeshadows, or a palette of gorgeous face highlight powders, or a sumptuous lipstick, or a lobster dinner either! Just crazy, I’m tellin ya.
I have, and love all of those shades in other brands, but I still think it’s nice to see high-end do duochromes, and I think the bottles and packaging (which isn’t shown here), is beautiful. Just because I can’t/won’t/don’t spend $50 on a nail polish, I think it’s wonderful to have the option for those that will. And who knows, maybe someday I’ll find one I love enough to splurge on.
I’m seriously considering buying one of these for my sister who would appreciate the sculptural aesthetic of the bottle, and also loves Egyptian art and artifacts.
It’s beautiful but it’s ridicilous to spend 50 dollars on nail polish. I would want it as a decoration rather than a polihhh
Cute but so not for $50 a pop! I could get 5 Zoyas or some Asian brand of cool duotones for the same amount of money. It’s just polish, not skincare!
So many other brands have dupes for these shades, drugstore and indie brands alike. At $50 each it would be ridiculous to get these instead of the $10-$15 alternatives.
