China Glaze Swanky Silk Nail Lacquer
Drape Yourself in Swanky Silk
China Glaze Swanky Silk Nail Lacquer ($6.99 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “brilliant beige with peach undertones.” At one angle, it’s a brilliant champagne gold, and when tilted, it gets a little bronzy, almost pink-bronze. The shift is subtle, though–don’t expect a serious duochrome here. I don’t have any other similar shades that have a little shift like this one does. Chanel Delight is a bit darker, less golden. MAC Soiree has a similar story–a little darker, not so golden. China Glaze Jingle Bells has a similar golden coloring.
It seems like a common theme throughout the New Bohemian collection: sheerer color, heavy on the brush strokes. I thought the brush strokes in this particular shade looked more like subtle metallic threads, and they applied rather straight compared to some of the other shades. The consistency was just barely on the thin side, and the color was semi-opaque after two coats. I usually see a week of wear with minor tip wear but no chipping with China Glaze’s formula.

Pretty, but the PR pictures over hyped the greatness of the collection. I have the entire collection and Swanky Silk is probably one of my least favorites.
Extremely similar to (and possible dupe for?) Deborah Lippmann Sugar Daddy.
A good dupe would be Deborah Lippmann Sugar Daddy. It’s not quite as “thready” and yields a bit more opaque after two coats.
Deborah Lippmann’s Sugar Daddy is a better quality version of this. Less brush stroke, what appears to be a stronger pink duochrome.
I’m going to have to try this one because I love the idea of this polish, but not the results.
Thanks for the dupe info as I’m very drawn to this duochrome, but hate the sheerness.
I painted my nails with a very similar color (the duochrome is much more noticeable depending on the light) last night which is completely opaque after two coats and the application was amazing. It’s from a European drugstore brand (p2) and actually cheaper than the China Glaze polish.
Brr, don’t like the brush strokes… Bummer 🙁
I quite like the peachy shimmer in this polish, but I have to agree this collection looks ridiculously sheer. Pass.
Love the colour in the bottle but it looked so bad on my nail being a pale as I am. lol
I do like the colour but it’s not calling to me. I don’t mind VBL, VNL or the sheerness (I would layer this over black) but I think I’ll wait until I can get it even cheaper.
Nails Inc’s Stratford is pretty similar – it’s a bit more greenish though.
I envision a lot of beautiful nail art being created with this shade
Oh my gosh. That color is gorgeous! I love the bronzy-pink undertones. This may be my first China Glaze nailpolish.
i have so many chinaglaze polishes but, it’s.. so.. PRETTY!!!!!
I own swanky silk and only bought half of the Bohemian collection becuase they were on sale at Sallys. I am very disappointed with them, they are very watery, and they do not go on opaque at all. So many brushstrokes, and so frosty! China Glaze is at its best when doing cremes in my opinion, however this color is very pretty. It does dull on me, iv’e found though.
