A Not-So-Rare, but Radiant Shade

China Glaze Rare & Radiant Nail Lacquer ($4.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as an “extraordinarily rich gold.” It’s a dirty, yellowy gold with antique gold/brown and green. It flashes from a dirty, antique gold to grass green. As I mentioned earlier this week, Color Club Editorial is very comparable, as they both are similar to Chanel Peridot. Though not quite as similar, Ozotic #507 is worth mentioning–it just shifts more to blue than to green.

It’s mostly opaque after two coats, but I would advise applying three, because the formula is a bit thinner and slightly sheerer than other China Glaze polishes. There are noticeable brush strokes in the finish  and they apply straight overall, but they are there. This shade dried down a bit faster than other China Glaze polishes, and it did have a naturally shiny finish. I recommend waiting between coats, because it will drag if you apply a second or third coat too soon. I typically get a week of wear out of China Glaze’s formula but do not have any chipping, just minor tip wear.

Again the other dupes are OPI Just Spotted the Lizard and Maybelline Boho Gold. But again Boho Gold dosen’t show as much of the duochrome compared to this and Just Spotted the Lizard. 😉

I got the Color Show you are talking about. It’s a limited edition called Boho Gold. There’s another similar one called Bold Gold, I think…but it doesn’t have the duochrome flash. It’s a pretty close dupe comparing my nails and bottle to the photos of this China Glaze!

I had this on my nails a couple of weeks ago and I agree, you do need 3 coats and it does show brush strokes, but it is a beautiful colour.
