China Glaze Let it Snow Collection Reviews, Photos, Swatches (Part 3)

China Glaze Nail Lacquers in Blue Year’s Eve, Glittering Garland, Twinkle Lights, Icicle

China Glaze Let It Snow: Blue Year’s Eve, Glittering Garland, Twinkle Lights, Icicle

To round out China Glaze’s Let It Snow Collection, we have the final four: Blue Year’s Eve (shimmering blue), Glittering Garland (glittery green), Twinkle Lights (mix of glittery shades), and Icicle (silver shimmer).

  • Blue Year’s Eve is a medium-dark blue with lighter blue shimmer. It almost has a violet edge to it. It was mostly opaque in two coats–there was a hint of visible nail line at certain angles. MAC Ming Blue was the closest dupe I could think of, but it is a bit darker.
  • Glittering Garland is a deep, dark blackened-green base with lighter forest green shimmer–it almost looks like flakes of sparkle to me. It was opaque in two coats. The base color reminded me of China Glaze Jolly Holly but mixed with the shimmer from ORLY It’s Not Rocket Science.
  • Twinkle Lights is a mix of gold, emerald green, and ruby red glitter suspended in a clear base. It was surprisingly opaque at two coats, and I’d expect a third to have made it opaque or just nearly. I couldn’t think of any dupes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few.
  • Icicle is a bright silver foil with slightly darker silver micro-glitter. It dries super quick and was opaque in two coats. It looked a lot like China Glaze Cheers to You, but Icicle is slightly less metallic but not by much and a touch lighter.

I didn’t have any notable issues with the formula on these four.  Blue Year’s Eve was less pigmented than anticipated but still was just about opaque in two coats; I could only detect visible nail line faintly at certain angles under a fair amount of lighting.  Icicle seems the most dupeable out of this set, while Glittering Garland was the shade I felt stood out the most; there’s something about the way the shimmer is shaped and set in the base color.  These polishes weren’t too thick or too thin, had good, even flow, and applied easily.  I typically get a week of wear with minimal tip wear with China Glaze’s formula.

Twinkle Lights could not possibly get any more Christmas-y! I swore off glitter polishes because they’re such a pain to get off, but I wouldn’t object if that one showed up in my stocking …

Twinkle Lights reminds me of a Deborah Lippmann Collection polish… maybe Happy Birthday? But less chunky and over the top, which in my opinion isn’t a bad thing…

Im loving Glittering Garland! its gorgeous! Im thinking of layering a coat of that with Blue’s Year eve and top it off with Twinkle Lights! ahh i can just picture how gorgeous that would be! Whats your fav from this collection Christine?

Blue Year’s Eve is almost identical to OPI Swimsuit nailed it.. it’s also really close to Color Club’s Cold Metal from the foiled collction (I think that’s the blue one’s name LOL)

Swimsuit, Nailed It! is a blue foil. Blue Years Eve seems to be a glass fleck. They’re very similar in color but the finishes are quite different.

What it be too crazy to buy the entire collection?;) I love them all! Christine is there really any duds in this collection? Or one that’s not as good as the rest?

I might have to rethink getting Twinkle Lights. I love how it looks alone on the nail. Last years Party Hearty was still better though. Twinkle Lights really gives the feel of the warm glow from the Christmas tree

Krishna Avatar

Hey Christine, what’s the easiest way to get glitter polishes off? I love the look of glitter but I hate dealing with the messy aftermath when I remove it! It gets all over my hands =/

Edie Avatar

Twinkle Lights is definitely my favourite! Did you try layering it over any of the other polishes from the collection Christine?

I bet a fine layer over Glittering Garlands would be like wearing a Christmas tree on your nails!! In a good way!

A really great collection from China Glaze, I can’t decide which I prefer, these or the OPI Muppets collection!

DAT BLUE.

Never have I wanted a blue nail polish so bad. It may go horribly with my strong yellow undertones, but I care not. It shall be mine. >:o

I actually bought it like 3 weeks ago from US nail supply in south san jose.. So I guess you can check out ur local beauty supply stores.. They should have it.. I bought the whole collex I am so in love with it..

The twinkle lights looks like you have “hundreds and thousands” stuck under your nails! Or do you call them jimmies in America? Whatever, they are very seasonal and will definitely be a conversation starter

I loveeeee these! I may sound callous (since Christmas is a spiritual celebration), but nothing gets me more in the Christmas spirit than holiday manicures! It’s the one time of year where I can wear gold, green and red glitter all at once! Now I just have to hunt down China Glaze in Australia and my nails will be Christmas-ready!

I actually have all of these polishes. I’ve only tried “Glittering Garland” and it is absolutely gorgeous. So sparkly and festive. I was going to paint my nails in “Icicle” today, and seeing all your great swatches has me really excited for how my nails will look in these beautiful colors.

Liz Avatar

I picked up Icicle and Blue Year’s Eve but I’m trying to wait until after Thanksgiving to use them, seeing these swatches has made it harder to wait!! Glittering Garland didn’t catch my eye in the bottle but I loooove the swatch!

Michelle Avatar

I am from Australia and was SO excited to see this collection on my go to site for US nail polish. Very reasonable price too! I’m getting 8 of the shades, Snow Flobe and Ring in the Red first in my list to try. Thanks for the review!

Does anyone know how Glittering Garland compares to Emerald Sparkle (also by China Glaze)? I really like Glittering Garland, but I’m not sure I want to get it if it’s similar to a color I already have and don’t wear often.
