Charlotte Tilbury The Legendary Muse Luxury Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
The Legendary Muse
Charlotte Tilbury The Legendary Muse Luxury Palette ($52.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a warm-toned set of mid-tone shades in light-medium copper, medium-dark gold, light-medium gold, and rosy brown. I liked it overall, though all of the shades are dupable, so it might be redundant in some stashes but may also be an easy go-to for others. I would have liked to have seen one deeper shade with less shimmer, which would have offered more contrast.

Legendary Muse #1
Legendary Muse #1 is a light-medium copper with warm, subtle rosy undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation with a soft, lightly dusty texture that was blendable and easy to use on bare skin. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before fading.

Legendary Muse #2
Legendary Muse #2 is a medium-dark gold with warm, orange undertones and a pearly shimmer. The texture was drier and looser, so it was more prone to sheering out when applied to bare skin. It had good color payoff, and the eyeshadow blended out nicely on the skin. I noticed fading after seven hours of wear.

Legendary Muse #3
Legendary Muse #3 is a light-medium gold with warm, yellow undertones and a glittery finish. The consistency was smooth and felt almost wet to the touch, so some of the glitter/sparkle adhered better to bare skin without the use of a primer or glitter adhesive, though without a glitter adhesive, there was still some fall out after seven hours of wear.

Legendary Muse #4
Legendary Muse #4 is a medium-dark rosy copper with warm undertones and a frosted shimmer. It had excellent color payoff with a very soft, finely-milled consistency, which was a touch dusty. The powder was blendable on the skin, and it adhered better than anticipated on bare skin and did not sheer out immediately. This shade started to fade after seven and a half hours of wear.

Honestly, for the price, this looks so dupe-able and “ordinary”. I’d rather get the Tartlette Tease palette or a “DIY” Anastasia palette of similar but better performing products or some Buxom shadows..
…and, in all honesty, the nicest aspect of this look is the liner/shadow combo you used under your lower lashes. Do you recall what you used?
UD Mars!
A DIY ABH palette would be a great way to replicate!
You killed this look! I have to know what eyeliner/shadow you used under your eyes?
UD Mars!
I swatched this in store, the kit was ok but didn’t wow me. The colors are pretty if you like them warm, and they are good for soft washes of color on the lid.
I can see some loving this and others needing more for the price point.
To me this is a strange quad. I don’t understand the appeal of all mid-tones for quads since usually the intention is more all-in-one. I like to be able to use JUST the quad and not need to bring anything else in. Maybe if the shade selection was more unique, then I could understand. But a mid-tone rose-gold set doesn’t make sense to me. It’s all just too similar. The eye look obviously is lovely on you, but so is every eye look. And certainly potential dupes are near endless.
What I always find interesting is that I feel many advocate for mattes in the crease, and so when you have a brand like Charlotte Tilbury–driven by a makeup artist–put out all shimmers in a quad, I wonder what the philosophy is there.
They may be targeting people doing a one eyeshadow look on the daily. I don’t know many people doing more than that.
I find her cream shadows are perfect for that ‘one shade ‘look’ however that type of usage did not draw me to this palette. ☺️
I completely follow you on the use of cream eyeshadow for a one shade look! The texture makes it possible to easily pay on the intensity :). Wonderful when you are in a hurry in the morning hehe
I’d love to see CT expand the shade range in her cream shadows. I love that high shine polished look you get from them.
I definitely think quads may be overkill for a one-shade look. Cream shadows and singles work just fine there. But of course to each their own. I just personally find this too easily duped for the cost.
I wonder that too. And I don’t mind the occasional slightly shimmery crease! But there should be at least something to mimic a crease color or a transition color. Like a less sparkly, deeper rose-copper brown. It seems like too high a price point and too many shades for the possible number of looks.
It’s nice. But, not blowing me away. It feels summery to me. I probably will be skipping this.
Totally hear that!
I feel the same way. This palette screams “spring/summer”. Considering the box set/holiday release, I want a quad that looks/feels like Christmas and winter. I love the shades, I’m just not in the mood or season to buy it. 😛
What a beautiful palette! I can see myself wearing all these colours!!
Yay!
Gorgeous eye look! Really love these shades <3
Thank you!
Thank you for reviewing this! I’ve been thinking about it on and off for a while now, but it is a pass for me. I love CT eyeshadows, but this is too similar to what I have and in colors that I honestly don’t wear that often. Also, it’s so odd that these are even the colors, because in the promo pics the quad looks very yellow/beige/sand with the shimmer shade looking almost greenish. Is it just me?
My pleasure as always, Nicole! Ah, I’ve given up on promo photos for that reason!
Hi Christine! That’s a really pretty eye look! Please may I know which eye liner are you wearing in the pictures?
It’s Urban Decay Mars eyeliner!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE the colors…. However way too pricey for me for just a 4 pan. I will have to try to find dupes.
Totally understand! It has to be exactly what you want at this price point.
I hesitate between this palette ( I specially like it with the kit with secret Salma lipstick) and the La Dolce Vita palette. I’ve seen nice reviews on this last one.
Which Charlotte Tilbury’s palette is your favorite Christine?
Dolce Vita is the best one that I’ve tried (very dupable, though)!
Hi Ana, I smiled when I read your question. This fall, I bought the Dolce Vita to wear during the holidays season and, recently, the Legendary Muse to wear in the New Year. It’s been so unseasonably warm that I’ve worn the Legendary Muse palette more times that the Chanel Rouge 1 palette I purchased this Fall.
This eyelook is really inspiring and beautiful!
Like you said it fells like this palette misses something ?
Thank you, Marie-Estelle!
You are quite correct on a few points there Christine: it is very dupable in multiple palettes; there does seem to be space for a deeper shade and numbers 2 and 4 are fairly close shades. I thought there would be some fall out with Shade 3.
Beautiful eye look Christine.
The glittery shade is better than you’d expect – not perfect but better!
I love that deep teal and gold (is that #3) on your lower lashline. What did you use?
I believe it’s Sephora Surfer Babe!Turns out it was UD Mars!?????
🙂
Pretty but I have so many similar. Your look was gorgeous.
Thank you, Susan!
These should be the easiest colors to make into A-worthy formulas. Very odd that they’d be getting B- at this price point.
They could be better for sure!
Even though these 4 shades really are closer in depth than I’d likely ever go for, they did all come together very nicely in the look that you did using them! I may need to see what I can do using MAC Sable and some of my other stuff to try that type of yellow-gold/ rose-gold /copper color combo!
Thank you, Nancy!
#4 is really pretty!
I love this palette. At first I was lukewarm about it until I tried it on (my sister had bought it). It is gorgeous. I used all 4 shades and could see the beauty of using just 2 shades. Yes, it could use a matte but I like that it doesn’t. As I don’t have an extensive eyeshadow collection, this palette fits in nicely.
Hello! Thank you so much for the review!
Im so in love with this!
I got one CT (“dolce vita”) and I am so impressed with its formula!
Really can make eye makeup in 2-5 minutes! Blends like a dream, really…
Do you think the formula is similar to this one and to “fallen angel” palette? Ive heard fallen angel formula is like TF “nude dip”…so I can not decide which of them will be better investment …Uh…
Nah, this is like the regular formula, IMO 🙂
What other palette has a similar look to this one in your opinion? (mostly or all soft shimmer shades) This is the palette of my dreams but unfortunately it’s sold out and I’m heartbroken and looking for a dupe!
LORAC Unzipped is sort of similar, though it has a lot more shades.
