This palette is really unattractive to me. Also, a few of the shades look like dupes for each other. I honestly do not see the appeal of this brand. Generally, it doesn’t seem like the price translates to a good product. But I’ve never used anything from her. so maybe the products are great. Unfortunately, nothing she comes out with appeals to me.
Possibly you have to see CT in person. I got sex on fire blush and one l/s in a mix set, and not impressed either. Most products run in my non-preferred shades and the base products are all too warm/yellow. There’s nowhere to browse it near me, and online looks like a bf no. The question is, why do we think we SHOULD like it?
Honestly, I don’t really give pay attention to this brand b/c they aren’t inclusive enough. I doubt I’d be able to find a foundation that would be a good match for me. The blushes are beautiful, but $40 is steep.
Jessica and kjh — Ditto!
I completely agree with you. I tried the Magic Creme everyone raves about and it was awful on my skin; it burned like crazy. I also tried to Mascara that’s supposed to be great and I was unimpressed. I didn’t think it was any better than Voluminous.
I can’t speak to the CT eye palettes since I’ve never tried one, but her lipsticks are nice quality, if nothing wildly original, and don’t seem out of line price-wise with others that are similar. (I mean lots of mid to high end makeup has a stupidly high markup but that’s the nature of the beast!)
I think CT basically appeals to people because she designed the original Tom Ford cosmetics line … yet you can buy her own stuff at a lot less than the truly absurd TF price point! Whether they compare is a personal choice. To be honest, the CT lipsticks I have are of considerably better quality than the two TF “Lips and Boys” I tried (one didn’t last 30 minutes even without drinking or eating, the other broke in its casing and developed a funky smell). Maybe I got unlucky with TF, but I still regularly use my CT lipsticks at least!
Anyway, can’t say that a CT eye palette ever called my name (this one doesn’t either unless I see amazing swatches) but then again, at least she isn’t charging $90 for a slim quad.
The awesome packaging so reminds me of Ziggy Stardust. I like the colours, too. Hope they perform well, Christine; I look forward to your review.
Looking at the colours, it looks to me like someone mixed up a bunch of pans from the various Too Faced Chocolate Bar palettes. Additionally, I prefer a more sophisticate looking “package” at this price point.
I really hate when a nice looking palette throws a random blue shadow in the mix.
Looks like the Kokie Cosmetics artist palette.
I’m just not feeling it. This looks to my eye anyway, like one of those older Nyx Palettes they used to put out. Although, at the time, those did kind of excite me. Now that I have some very high quality palettes, this insipid shade arrangement does nothing for me.
I feel like I can get close to, if not the exact same, color from my UD Heavy Metal palette. I don’t need a bunch of all shimmer palettes so this one isn’t calling my name right now. I almost think the bottom four and the right four would be cute as quads instead of the full palette… too many repeat shades (maybe not when swatched, we’ll have to wait and see). If instead of three same toned pale gold shimmer shades there was a medium toned matte brown and dark matte brown I think I’d like this more. I also don’t tend to use the shimmery white shade in any of my palettes so if that was non shimmer or a different shade that would have been nicer imo.
Really Ree posted that the shadows are a wet/dry formula and that they “instantly turn to cream when wet as a result of ‘Wet Touch’ powder technology they are formulated with.” She feels they “resemble…Eyes to Mesmerise cream shadows after they are mixed with water.”
CT’s cream shadows are my favourite formula, so I’m in for this palette. I dislike the shadow naming conventions, though. Why not name shades after the icons that influenced the palette? I wish CT would get back to the conventions she used to name the original quads.
I am not a fan or CT eye shadows. I have two of her quads and neither performs well for me and at that price point, you want performance. I do like her lipsticks and lip pencils however. This doesn’t really even appeal as there seem to be a lot of lighter shades and not many transition shades. They all appear to have some level of satin, shimmer or glitter.
I’m not feeling it. Mind you, I am fairly ambivalent about CT in general – I got a couple of lip products last year and they’re OK, but nothing in her line really blows my skirt up…
This looks like a really warm toned palette and someone from CT said, ‘Oh, let’s make it appeal to the cool toned wearers out there and throw in a green and blue” And that’s what they did.
I think CT is overrated.
I love just about everything CT makes. Her Magic Cream is phenomenal and I’ve never found a better foundation match.
CT Magic cream can be decent as a primer, nothing else. Ingredients and jar packaging has nothing to do with magic. You can read beautypedia review about this. Hope that helps.
I want it. Last Christmas I picked up CT Stars in Your Eyes palette and I loved it. I feel inspired every time I look at it. Hope this one is as magical.
I like the packaging, but the colors aren’t anything new. It doesn’t look to me like there’s much tonal variety.
This looks extremely similar to the ColourPop Perception palette. Am I seeing things? O.o
