Charlotte Tilbury The Rebel Eyeshadow Quad Review, Photos, Swatches
Charlotte Tilbury The Rebel Eyeshadow Quad
Charlotte Tilbury The Rebel Eyeshadow Quad ($52.00 for 0.18 oz.) includes four shades that revolve around a green-hued theme. The quality was consistently high across the four shades with the more glittery shade having some fall out, but the pigmentation, texture, and application of the four were nice. This brand has been available (along with this particular quad) for awhile in the UK, and I bought this from Selfridges, but it will be available stateside at Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstrom, Beautylish, NET-A-PORTER tomorrow, September 2nd. Of the products I’ve tried from the brand, I think her eyeshadows are not just good quality but more unique. (In general, the line is high quality, but the shades are often more dupable than not.) Most of the pricing is in line with other designer brands like Chanel and Dior, but the quad pricing is noticeably lower ($52 vs. ~$60 of Chanel, Dior, etc.). It contains about the same to a little less in terms of product weight/quantity to other comparable brands.
The Rebel #1 is a golden beige with a frosted, metallic finish. It had good color payoff with a soft, buttery consistency that was easy to blend and lasted for nine hours before fading. Stila Kitten (P) is darker. Tom Ford Beauty Nude Dip #1 (LE) is similar. MAC Fabulous Three #1 (LE) is lighter. Too Faced Riviera (P, $16.00) is warmer. Divergent Humble Sheen (LE) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The Rebel #2 is a medium, grassy green with warm, yellow undertones and a pearly sheen. The texture was soft and buttery, while it was blendable and nicely pigmented. It wore well for nine hours before fading slightly. Shiseido Sudachi (GR 619) (P, $25.00) is a cream product. Sleek MakeUP Fauna (P, $9.99) is darker, cooler-toned. Sleek MakeUP Evergreen (P, $9.99) is lighter. Makeup Geek Shimmermint (P, $5.99) is lighter. Fyrinnae Dragon’s Wing (P, $6.80) is brighter. Fyrinnae Are You My Mummy? (P, $6.80) is darker, cooler-toned. Sephora Collection Rolling in the Grass (10) (P, $13.00) is darker. MAC Golden Olive (P, $21.00) is warmer, lighter. MAC Humid (P, $15.00) is darker. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Foxfire (P, $14.00) is brighter. Inglot #418 (P, $6.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The Rebel #3 is a muted, olive green with warm, khaki undertones and gold glitter. It had good color payoff, despite having a texture that felt thinner–almost wet–and glittery. It applies fairly well for something with this much glitter, as a lot of the glitter binds with the base color. Also worth noting is that it appears significantly lighter on than it looks in the pan. There is some fall out over time (more than minor, less than moderate), though the underlying base color lasts for nine hours without creasing. Anastasia Emerald (LE) is less sparkly, darker. MAC Silver Sun (LE, $19.50) is lighter. Sleek MakeUP Fauna (P, $9.99) is lighter, less glittery. Ulta Sage (P, $10.00) is lighter, less glittery. Fyrinnae Boot Season (P, $6.80) is darker, less glittery. MAC Unsurpassable (LE, $21.00) is lighter. L’Oreal Golden Emerald (P, $7.99) is darker. Sugarpill Junebug (P, $12.00) is darker, cooler-toned. Inglot #419 (P, $6.00) is warmer, less glittery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The Rebel #4 is a deepened, medium-dark green-ish teal with cool undertones and a soft, pearly sheen. It had excellent pigmentation that went on very smoothly and was fairly blendable (but it could have been a little easier to blend out). It lasted for nine hours without fading or creasing. bareMinerals Dazzle (P) is darker. MAC Green Room (LE, $15.00) is lighter, more matte. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Siren #7 (LE) is bluer. Too Faced Sequin (LE, $16.00) is brighter. Urban Decay Damaged (LE, $18.00) is greener. Sephora Collection Midnight Swim (16) (P, $13.00) is bluer. MAC Double Feature #4 #1 (LE, $15.00) is brighter. Make Up For Ever #80 (DC, $20.00) is greener. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This is my dream quad. Every year I beg for more green palettes and every brand always puts out more purples. I’m in love and ordering immediately. This is amazing. Thank you, Christine!
No problem, Kylee!
Ahhh can’t wait for all of your reviews on this brand!!! Thank you!
Hi Nazih!
Heads up, I already reviewed most of what I bought awhile ago 🙂 Just have a couple of products left.
That green! That teal!
It is pretty!
I’m so excited to have better access to this brand because I’ve been hearing wonderful things for a long time from UK beauty bloggers and YouTubers. While I knew it was more high-end, I didn’t realize it was quite this pricey. Eek. I suppose I’ll hold off for a bit to see if something really bowls me over. Will you be reviewing more from the brand?
Hi Sarah,
I already reviewed most of the products I bought from Selfridges! I have a couple products still to review but most have been posted.
Among her eyeshadow quads, I’m eyeing The Sophisticate myself! 😀 Although I must admit I’m bummed that her Filmstars on the Go palettes and her Beach Sticks don’t appear to be included in the range being introduced in the US launch. 🙁
From what I understand, at least the Beach Sticks will be coming, just not yet 🙂
I have the Sophisticate and it is a great every day palette… I just placed an order through the UK site for some of the Filmstars on the Go palettes, I am fully addicted to her products…
Gah. I’d never heard of Charlotte Tilbury before, so I wasn’t anticipating this launch with bated breath like a lot of other people, but now I want. I love the gold, almost duo chrome shimmer.
It will be interesting to see how the launch goes!
I really like shade #2 and #3 from this palette! And love the warmth in the highlight shade! Pairs so well with greens.
The highlight works well! 🙂
Charlotte Tilbury has been in the US for quite some time. I remember shortly after your first review of the brand, I went to Nordstrom in Santa Monica, and there was a counter there… Do they mean the launch is just going to expand to other areas, or is it just manufactured hype?
I’m not sure what you mean, Amy! Nordstrom had Filmstar + a brush for their anniversary sale, but the whole line hasn’t been available in the U.S. You have always been able to order from the UK to here, but you would had to pay in pounds.
Nordstrom in Santa Monica has signs over the counters, and I remember seeing the huuuge lettering for Charlotte Tilbury! The reason I remember it so vividly was due to your review just prior to that. It’s not a brand I was familiar with, so I otherwise wouldn’t have likely noticed, but because of your thorough review/ordering process, it just really stood out. Admittedly, I don’t know exactly how much of the line they had at the time, but given the fact the lettering was so prominently displayed, and affixed to the wall, I would imagine it was a fair amount.
Had I known about the sculpting duo, I may have wandered over…
Haven’t heard of it being in the U.S. – that’s just all I know!
It might have been just the bronzer-hightlight duo as it says on her site and on Instagram that the US launch is September 2.
I know she’s had a lot of questions earlier if and when the brand would become available in the US.
I’ve asked her U.S. PR team every 2 months, “When is it coming!!!!!!” for over a year, LOL.
Perhaps very select locations? Santa Monica Place caters to alot of tourists/international clientele, so that could be why…?
the colour combination is gorgeous! and they all seem to perform so well. me wantsss!
Glad ya liked it, Adhishree!
I think I will wait for the launching of Gucci make up. I have been getting insane lately with TF, so need to chill out. Thank you for your review, and hope you are enjoying your weekend.
No problem, Andrea! It’s all permanent, so there’s no rush either!
Wow..this quad is just stunning! I love green eyeshadow, I think it looks really good with my brown eyes..as it does yours!
It would be lovely on you!
The fourth shade is do gorgeous! I’m not a big green eyeshadow person, but this is a very pretty palette. I’m glad the brand is living up to the price.
I think this combo is really fun – I like that it’s quite pigmented and bold, which you don’t always get with really high-end.
I NEED this!
Enjoy 🙂
I’m a sucker for greens, so I think you know where this is going… 😉
It will be hard to resist for you! 😉
Ah,,not in Canada yet. Good..some money saved there lol. Gorgeous quad though. I love these earthy greens and the formula seems so good. I have a maybelline quad with similar colours so I’m not lamenting too much but very pretty quad nonetheless, and beautiful eye look as usual 🙂
I don’t know what the current exchange rate is, but I know that her website ships internationally (including to the U.S.) – I just know that paying converting U.S. dollars to pounds was painful, lol!
Yup – we Janie Canuks have little choice but to wait and save our loonies and toonies (and brace ourselves for the likely price increase too!). I’m glad to see I have likely dupes of all the shades – at least that will placate me temporarily!
Christine, it’s like you honestly can hear my thoughts. I was awaiting the release of the Tilbury line at Nordstrom tomorrow (I’ve got a credit card there so its fab lol) and have a few of these palettes on my list (dolce vita is screaming my name!) but wasn’t sure of the quality. And low and behold you post your review. THANK YOU SO MUCHHH! 🙂
My pleasure, Lori! What is on your list?
Stunning! I agree about dupability, yet at least they’re duped of good ones! 😉 Love your eye.. Stunning peacock silver hawk or mermaid whatever, looks wonderful on you.
It makes sense as a “core” range, you know? Like Troy Surratt’s range has some nice colors, but a lot are dupable, so it really depends on what colors you have covered (or not).
Clearly, this is going to be a brand I would have to splurge on during the Christmas holiday or my birthday because aaah, $52 for a quad. This DOES look amazing.
I look forward to seeing if you splurge on this come the holidays!
I’m going to england in december, and will defs be checking out her stuff.
Have fun 😀
Been so waiting for a review of her shadows so thanks! I’ve been wanting her stuff since it came out a year ago and did buy some from UK, but not the shadows. She has one quad, I think maybe the Golden Goddess, that looks like it’s similar to TF Cognac Sable- love the colors. But I had no idea the quality so this confirms what I assumed- it’s nice. I’m happy it’s here, but really hope it shows up in Nordstrom stores because it’s too hard to buy online.
I think they’re better than some of the TF quads, but I do prefer a more buttery, denser texture and don’t find that to always be true of TF’s regular eyeshadow range. Love the formula of the Nude Dip, Enchanted, etc. quads, but the core quads are more hit/miss for me.
I have heard that select regional Nordstrom stores will have it ~November.
Drooling. Those are absolutely gorgeous!
It is a stunning set of shades!
Before the swatches I was like “eh” but once I saw the swatches, I was DIGGING IT.
Haha!
Its so nice to see some greens as lovely as these! Will be thinking seriously about getting one of these palettes. Love the way you’ve put them on Christine!
Aw, thanks Denise! 😀
I think this has a pretty unique look to it!
Yay! I think it does!
Look at those greens!! So gorgeous!
Agreed!
This is such a beautiful palette. The original photo reminded me a bit of Mac’s Photo Realism palette, but the shades are much more vibrant. I’m not certain if the brand will ever be available in Canada, but I am tempted to try to track something down on line.
I hope it will be!
I still have a lot of products I want from Charlotte Tilbury. I just have such a hard time to chose 🙂 I’m really happy for those of you who can go and check out the products in real life.
This is a fun little palette, I’ve been eyeing the purpliest one and the Vintage Vamp, the eyeshadow pencils seems interesting as well. then there is the sculpting duo! Looks gorgeous.
I think it was interesting to read the review and to see the swatches. I’ve seen her promo photos and videos, but a really good swatch and the shadows used by someone other than her is a lot more telling, I think. I must check out the earlier reviews you did.
Even if Iäm purpely at heart, I have a weird weekness for green eyeshadows. These are nice and the look you did is stunning.
There are so many products, and since they’re not cheap, it can be hard to narrow down which ones to try!
OMG. That third shade. Beautiful!
I love the teal one the most!
Even though this palette is gorgeous, and you created an amazing look, I think it leans a little too bright for me. The palette I really, really wanna try is “The Rock Chick”. I’m crossing my fingers it will be on Net-A-Porter tomorrow. Free one day shipping + no sales taxes (at least to NV) makes for a good combination 🙂
It should be! 🙂
I ended up buying it at Beautylish. They had a 10 dollar off coupon for new members, free 2 day shipping and no sales taxes to Nevada. Sounded like a better deal 🙂
Nice! 🙂
This Charlotte Tilbury stuff is going to be a real problem if all of it is this quality! My poor wallet!
Luckily, it’s a full launch of core products, so there’s no rush!
YES! Finally some Charlotte Tilbury palette reviews! I actually just wore this exact palette yesterday! I have almost all her palettes (only one I didn’t get was the Rock Chick, because I have enough blacks and greys, not my favorite colors), the only one that disappointed was the Glamour Muse, because the purple is really tricky to work with… The shadows have a gorgeous texture, it blends like butter and they wear all day… The Dolce Vita has been my go to ever since I purchased it, just awesome!
Bummer to hear that about Glamour Muse! Love my purples 🙁
This is undoubtedly a stunning, stunning quad but I just can’t get into green shadows! I love the look you created, definitely a perfect use of colour!
Aww!
I LOVE greens! The colors in this palette are so oooooh pretty!
Green is hard not to love!
Pretty palette and a good price too!
The price was surprisingly… lower, lol!
These are really gorgeous swatches. My favorite is by far the 3rd shade, the pretty olive green. Although Ulta’s dupe doesn’t look as pigmented, I might check it out. It’s so convenient to see dupes right under the product!
Way cheaper, so there is that 😉 Maybe with a white base you could get it to pop a little more, too!
if i can get my hands on this and the rouge bunny rouge palette that the non blonde recently reviewed, that might make me forget all about missing out on nude dip. tom who? (i kid, i kid =])
The TF quad is dupable, just tell yourself that 😉
This…. Is gorgeous! I love greens but so many palettes are dull. I bought a green themed Dior quint a few years back and this is what I wanted it to be like!
Was it one of Dior’s disappointing “bright” palettes?
I absolutely love this palette. All the shades are really quite original (hard to do these days). And although I have a lot of greens, I still WANT this palette. I hope it comes to Australia! I think for any green eyeshadow lover, this is perfect.
It is SO hard to be original these days for sure!
Christine, thanks so much for your work! Each time I get on your blog, there’s something interesting to see!
We don’t have this brand in Russia (yet? s’far as I know we have Chantecaille, Caron and rare stuff like that even…) but I’m definitely going to get my hands on this quad. Each shade is perfect! That’s soooo rare. I’ve forever been a fan of green/teal colors, but my only green eye shadow is Givenchy’s old khaki quad. This one beats it any day! I think Rebel will look great on fairer complexions and light eyes too (mine are greenish grey).
Thanks for the review 😀
Caron! There is a brand I never see mentioned.
Lovely color combination.. it very rare that we come across a pretty green combination.. Gorgeous look dear.. 🙂
Thank you, Poo!
These look so beautiful! After shelling out on Tisse Venitien, I’m not sure I can justify another quad so soon! I’m eyeing her color chameleon sticks though!
At least it’s permanent — no rush!
It seems like greens are where it’s at this Fall. This reminds me of the Chanel Quad that came out this Fall as well..Mystere (I think?). I mean that colors are not exactly the same, but the “feel” is similar. 🙂
I can see some similarity!
Love the colors. So gorgeous!
Agreed!
I love the 4th shade! I’d probably never buy it for myself but it’s really lovely!
Good thing we can just drool over photos 😉
Oh dear… I thought I had a wishlist problem when I saw the Rock Chic one…but now I’ve seen this one… !!! 😛
I really love how there’s a fantastic selection of greens here – an olivey gold green, a bright grass green and a cool turquoise/teal green. I love all of them! Now I want to get this and use it for the snake look I’ve been agonising over with NARS Snake Eyes…
I like that the green/teal here isn’t a cop out either!
The epitome of shadows I tend to stay away from: greens. Other than orange, this is my next least likely colour. I think it is my weird light yellow/green skintones.. this range in particular, they are not attractive on me. The quality looks excellent..will have to eyeball one of the other quads..
Are there any greens you like to wear?
Those colours look amazing, doubt I could pull it off though!
You never know!
Thanks for this great review, Christine! I just splurged and ordered this after a few months of pining lol! I bought it based on your review because I trust your expertise! You’re always spot on and honest with your reviews and share the best quality and realistic swatches! Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much, Danielle! Hope you love this 😀
