Charlotte Tilbury Eyes of a Star Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches

Eyes of a Star
Charlotte Tilbury Eyes of a Star Eyeshadow Quad ($53.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a new, limited edition warm-toned, neutral eyeshadow palette that included two moderately shimmery shades and two more satin-like shades. It’s harder to rare true, satin-finish eyeshadows, so it was nice to see them released. The gold shade was a little drier than the others, but the palette was fairly pigmented, blendable, and easy to work with overall.

Eyes of a Star (Prime)
Eyes of a Star (Prime) is a muted, medium gold with moderate, warm undertones paired with a pearly sheen. Compared to a lot of gold-hued eyeshadows on the market, it appeared “cooler” than most. The texture was moderately dense, slightly drier than other shades in the palette, but it applied evenly and blended out without issue. It had mostly opaque coverage applied dry and full coverage applied with a dampened brush. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Eyes of a Star (Enhance)
Eyes of a Star (Enhance) is a medium-dark copper with moderate, warm undertones and a smoother, metallic sheen. It had rich pigmentation with a moderately dense, slightly firmer texture that yielded to a dry brush but didn’t have any powderiness. The eyeshadow applied evenly to bare skin and blended out with ease, while the formula itself looked “melted” after a few minutes, which gave it a seamless sheen. It lasted nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Eyes of a Star (Define)
Eyes of a Star (Define) is a medium brown with subtle, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had opaque color coverage applied dry as well as with a dampened brush with the latter application method yielding slightly deeper, richer color. The texture was smooth to the touch, firmer and denser without being stiff to work with, so I didn’t have issues picking up product or blending it out on bare skin. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Eyes of a Star (Smoke)
Eyes of a Star (Smoke) is a medium brown with warmer, more rusty-orange undertones and a satin finish. The texture was moderately dense, firm but not thick or too stiff, so it picked up well with a dry brush and had good adhesion while blending out well along the edges. It had opaque color payoff applied dry as well as damp, which wore well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

It IS difficult to find true satin finish shadows these days. What brands would people recommend for that?
Gosh, this sure is nice! Not anything shade wise we haven’t seen before, but done exceptionally nicely. These are the types of shades that really make my eyes look bright aqua jade green. I might just go for it!
It is so lovely to see a satin finish in an eye palette – and I hope that more brands do this and do it well. As to the quad, I thought there was a bit of sameness between Shades 2 & 4, but otherwise it is a beautiful quad. The more antique gold shade is a plus for me too.
This looks lovely but overall, too warm for me. But that brown shade – LOVE that brown shade (again, the sort of colour I always fall for – this is why I keep buying the same sorts of colours over and over again and why self-made palettes aren’t always the best idea for me!)
