Chanel Spring 2011: Chanel Regard Perle Eyeshadow Quad

Chanel Regard Perle Eyeshadow Quad ($56.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new and permanent (at least from what Chanel’s website says) quad from the the Spring collection, which is online now and seems to be coming out in stores rapidly, too.

It consists of a muted, dark forest green with almost pink-peach shimmer; pale pinked peach with a satin sheen; gilded warmed-up beige champagne with a frost sheen; and a pale white gold with soft yellow gold micro-shimmer. The shades match the nail polishes from this collection, actually, which is kind of fun. The quad doesn’t seem really warm, but it doesn’t quite seem cool-toned, either; I”m hesitant to weigh in and say it’s neutral, though. Perhaps, the green shade is rather cool, and the peach shade is nearly neutral, while the other two shades lean slightly warm.

The texture is fabulous–this is definitely one of the better Chanel quads (I don’t always love ’em).  All four shades were nicely pigmented whether used wet or dry; in fact, you can barely tell the difference between them for a couple of them!  These are smooth, almost creamy, and very easy to blend.

  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5

FINAL THOUGHTS: I think if the shade variation appeals to your personal tastes, you won’t be disappointed.  It’s of superb quality, and the shades themselves are easy to work with and the greenish shade is gorgeous.

I found it to be excellent – one of the best to date – and there are several Chanel quads where I haven’t been very impressed. I think I gave one a D or lower once! I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience but my review is based on my personal experience, and I do think the swatches show how pigmented and smooth these are 🙂

Unfortunately, I agree with Jessica. I have several Chanel quads that I absolutely love, and I found this one to be very poor in quality by comparison. It’s strange because the colors looked nothing like this on me…they were all quite sheer on my NC25-30 skin.

I agree with you Christine. Each persons experience is their own. I went to Nordstrom to purchase items from the new collection today and found this eyeshadow to be very good quality. I own many other Chanel eyeshadows as well as many other brands ( i am very picky on quality) and this one was very good. I even played with them when I got home and really liked them. Thank you Christine for all of your great reviews. I always check your blog before going to purchase a new collection. You save me heaps of time 🙂 Happy New Year!!!

could you please tell me which lipcolor the model is wearing. at the chanel counter, the makeup artist says peregrina with insouciante(spelling?) extrait de gloss….are the glossimers for the rouge allures??? the artist seems to think so. she says look at the picture carefully…lips have no sparkle to them.

Merci Christine for this review. As a Chanel-addict (as well as a nars-addict and mac-addict) I am happy to learn a beautiful new collection from Chanel…
> Trish,
I unfortunately desagree with you. I’m a NC 44-45, but, what about the green one, and some colors, specificaly that of close to the green one, remind me amber lights (it’s my viewpoint of course). I’ll swatch it when available before buying it of course.

It’s okay to disagree–nobody’s perfect. 😉

The green one I was drawn to and the gold one does look like Amber Lights (which I go through like crazy) but the proof is in the performance. I just haven’t had much luck with Chanel shadows staying true on my skin to what they look like in the palette.

Let me know how the swatchubg goes! 🙂

I wish I could wear Chanel eyeshadows, but they never seem to work for me. I love the colors of this palette. I worked at Chanel when Garden Party was released and passed up on it because the pigmentation was so poor unless wet. The last one I got was Stupendous, as a gift, and I’m very disappointed with the quality. There are so much better pigmented eyeshadows out there for equal (Dior) or lesser price.

I bought Stupendous when they Soho collection came out and it was the first make-up item I bought w/o testing it first at the counter. I was a little hesitant to purchase since I couldn’t play w/it in person but it’s one of the quads I reach for the most. I have 2 other Chanel quads and haven’t had any issues w/the quality.

I’ve tried other high end quads and I always go back to Chanel.

I was disappointed with this quad, and I love Chanel usually. On my very fair and cool toned skin, the green shade (which was my favorite visually) looked like a muddyish brownish color — not like in the quad at all. Oh well, I’ll have to use my other dozens of Chanel quads :).

Marta Avatar

That’s okay. Thanks for trying anyway. Worst case scenario, I’ll purchase the quad on ebay from a trusted seller.
After the fantastic experience I had with the Tentations Cuivreé quad (it suits my eye color and skin tone like nothing else) there’s no way I’m not getting this one.

I bought this for me for Christmas and I was really surprised how much I liked it. In the case the colors seem well, kind of boring. But on the eye there is great color and contrast. The black pearl color is awesome and is complemented with the light shadows and the neutrals. I can’t wait to try the dark color for a real dramatic smokey look. This quad has great texture and shimmer that can take you from day to night. I love it

Heather Avatar

How close are these colors to the colors in the Ombree Perles palette? To my untrained eye, three of those four colors look like they are duplicated, to some extent, in the other palette.

Thanks Christine !
I have already ordered the quint from this collection and I thought this one was not special and not worth it.
I am glad I read your review and happy that today I had the possibility to swatch it (it is finally here in Switzerland) and waowwww this is absolutely gorgeous !
So I am ordering this one as well (oh dear me..). I used to hate Chanel quads because in Europe we have the round eyeshadows in the quads, I find them chalky and not pigmented at all.
When I swatched this one, even the round pans are pigmented and beautiful but still, I have ordered it from the US so that I can get the square pans.
I really love the colors, and the white one is like Mac Vanilla pigment, I just love it !
By the way, if someone knows why we are not getting the square ones I would be happy to know…
