Chanel Intemporel Le Vernis Nail Colour
Chanel Intemporel Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “glimmering silver shade.” It’s a light-medium silver with subtle cool undertones and a metallic finish. NARS Amarapura (P, $20.00) is darker. Cult Nails Lethal (LE, $12.00) is slightly darker. China Glaze Cheers to You (LE, $7.50) is more metallic. See comparison swatches / view dupes. (I am also confident that there are a slew of dupes that I haven’t tried, as metallic silver is certainly not unique.)
The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, so it wasn’t difficult to apply two coats for opaque coverage, but the metallic finish yielded noticeable brush strokes, and those were hard to control without the steadiest of hands (of which I do not possess). The brush strokes looked worse initially, so they softened as the polish dried down, but they never went away. It lasted for six days on me before I saw a chip and noticeable tip wear, which is a day or so shorter than I usually get wish polish, including Chanel’s formula.

It’s a nice color, but too similar to other colors I’ve seen from other, less expensive brands. Not unique enough (or smooth enough across your nails) to justify the price, I don’t think!
I agree!
Pretty colour! I also have shaky hands and have yet to find a metallic that didn’t streak. My workaround is to sandwich the layers a matte topcoat. It seems to hold everything in place and gives me that nice, smooth finish.
Could you explain a bit more (maybe a step-by-step) about this method? 🙂
Sure! Here’s my process: After a base coat and the first layer of polish (keeping it thin to maintain an even level and to cut down on drying time), I go over each nail with a layer of matte topcoat (I really like the one by Sally Hansen). Once the nails have mattified (only takes a minute or two), I go in with my second layer of polish, then top coat as usual. This method works great for anything prone to streaking – pastels, pearls, metallics, etc. I find drying time is negligible in difference compared to a regular paint job. Just remember to keep all those layers thin! Good luck!
Thank you!!
This is a gorgeous colour! It looks really classy, I even kind of like the brush strokes, I think it suits the metallic look 🙂
I don’t mind if the brush strokes go on fairly evenly – so if they go on pretty straight, then it can look more like brushed metal!
Very pretty colour and it looks good on you Christine.
Thank you!
I love the metal look of the color. I’ve been wanting a silver chrome looking polish. Not as much of a fan of the price though.
I’m sure there are a lot of options at a lower price point!
I know it is not your fault, but I find it utterly ridiculous, that I can’t purchase this shade, along with Sweet Star, in Europe. Like WTF? It’s really pretty.
I totally feel you! There have been exclusives to other countries (Guerlain, I think) that I have been envious of!
Like Chanel is a French brand, it’s like next door Q.Q
Nice icy-toned color! What finishes do you personally prefer, Christine?
Pearl!
Very pretty cool silver, almost white. I see what you mean by the vertical brush strokes, but on the bright side, I think it gives the optical illusion of making fingers look longer. Hmmm, I can see the marketing PR department going into over-drive, trying to put a spin on this 😉
Looks too much like car paint to me 😉
Nice, beautiful colour but… i don’t like it…:)
