Generally, I like supporting the people who actually create, rather than just copy others (so not coincidental duping). If it seemed like one brand was just copying another, then I’d want the original, whether I paid or not. It’s the same way I feel about designer products – buy the real thing, not the knock-offs (though it’s really a different, more serious issue that encompasses more far-reaching consequences). I totally get dupes, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with buying a dupe rather than the original. They can provide a wider group of people access to a product that is overpriced as well as provide an alternative when the original product was limited edition.

Beautiful Beginnings with CoverGirl

Beautiful Beginnings with CoverGirl

What was the first CoverGirl product you ever tried?  Did it pave way for a real romance or did it put you off the brand entirely?  What was the first product you purchased?  Did you love it? Hate it? Still own it?

my answer: I can’t remember if I had tried anything prior to the blog, though I feel like I must have. The first product I reviewed was the Smoky ShadowBlast. I remember being most impressed by their LiquilineBlast eyeliners, though. Those were really fun!

Share your first time experiences with CoverGirl in the comments! 🙂

It depends on my mood! If I’m just impulsively checking out what’s new, then I’d rather go to a counter so I can see lots of different brands and products. If I’m looking to shop from a specific brand, I like stores better – only because I feel like you’re for sure going to get dedicated service by someone who’s trained in the brand.

Rant & Rave: Jelly Nail Polishes

This Week’s Topic: JELLY NAIL POLISHES!

Your Mission: Tell us what you love, hate, or are otherwise indifferent to about jelly nail polishes. What drives you bananas? What makes them necessary?

my answer: I love how squishy they look! I’m not a huge fan of sheer polish overall, though some shades I like, so I love jelly finishes that are more opaque.

Now, I barely have any access (in person) to any beauty brands, since I live an hour or further away from the beauty counters, but half the time online launches products before counters even receive them! I’d love to have better access to MUFE’s full range of products, Inglot, and high-end brands like Edward Bess, Le Metier de Beaute, etc.
