I love mixing liquid highlighters into my foundation as I find it stretches out whatever base I’m using, adds some luminosity, and is a great way to soften skin texture overall. I don’t tend to use them as a standalone highlighter much as they’re often a little too subtle or prone to wasting product (most pump-mechanisms dispense way too much product!).

I used to go for fuller coverage and more matte finishes, and now, I prefer more medium, buildable coverage and a natural finish.

I typically use liquid foundation and mix two shades and/or use it with a liquid luminizer, so I’ll get it on my fingertip, mix, and then dab it over my cheeks, forehead, and chin. I’ll use a synthetic brush–a variety of them–to apply in more stippling and dabbing motions from top to bottom.
