Cargo Lumieres du Monde Palette
Quick Review: Cargo Lumieres du Monde Palette
Cargo Lights of the World Palette ($29.00 for 1.165 oz.) is a surprisingly well-made palette that is comprised of mostly eyeshadows (eight, in fact) along with a blush/bronzer in the center. If you love brighter, more colorful shades, I think this is a palette worth considering this holiday season. The pigmentation of nearly all the shades was really nice, as were the textures–soft, smooth, and not powdery. Even the matte shades were quite nice!
- A is a teal blue with subtle green micro-shimmer and a frosted sheen. It is very nicely pigmented and smooth.
- B is a paled yellow gold with a high frost shimmer and sheen. It’s frostier than both A and D, and it’s smooth and pigmented.
- C is a medium blue with a frosted sheen. It’s decently pigmented, but it could use a little more oomph.
- D is an olive green with a khaki gold shimmer-sheen. It has more of a frost finish, and it is nicely pigmented (could be a little more intense, though).
- E is a warm, medium pink with yellow undertones and a satin finish.
- F is a softened peach orange with a strong, yellowed gold sheen. When mixed with E, it becomes a lightened peach-orange.
- G is a darkened lavender with a soft pearled, frost sheen. It has nice pigmentation and goes on smoothly.
- H is a pure white with a matte finish. It’s very creamy, smooth, and pigmented.
- I is a cool-toned peached brown with a matte finish. It has a lovely smooth texture and nice color pay off.
- J is a slightly cool-toned medium-dark brown with a pearly finish. It’s decently pigmented though on the sheerer side.
Welcome to Swatch-all-idays! To start 2011 off on the right foot (or post, as it may be!), Temptalia is going through a backlog of products we have photographed, swatched, and often tested but in a slightly different manner. Quick reviews may be partially incomplete, such as a blush may only be swatched on the arm rather than shown on the face. It is our hope that what we are able to provide is still helpful!

- Product: 28/30
- Value: 10/10
- Ease of Use: 4/5

FINAL THOUGHTS: At $29 and with plenty of each shade, it’s an excellent buy for a multi-colored palette that actually holds quality eyeshadows.

Pretty colors wonder how long they wear? Seems I remember cargo’s eye shadows not having long wearing time. But I like the colors in this palette!
I didn’t have any wear/fading issues!
Thanks for the review and swatches. I’ve been curious about Cargo because it always seems to be on clearance at Sephora, as if no one is buying it. Very pretty colors.
I love C & E! The whole palette is gorgeous, though.
Perfect collection looks like one of my mac palettes i spent a fortune to make, I take this color combo on set with me to create a ton of different looks. Def a must buy.
That is definitely one of the prettier palettes I’ve seen. The embossing makes it almost a shame to use it! The bronzer/blush is my favorite, by far.
great blush shades! to me though it seems a bit tricky using the blush shades on their own, at least the orangey-brown one? a big blush brush will not be able to have the precision to only get the outer circle-shade
I have no problem using MAC’s 116 brush, which is my normal blush brush!
great, I might try that! 🙂 it’s super pretty!
Thanks for the review, I really love the look of this palette! I wanted to ask you, you tweeted about some huge survey about the cosmetics of 2010… now I can’t find it anywhere? Could you please tell me where I can find it?

Thanks a lot 🙂
I’ve never tried Cargo before. this palette is really pretty
I saw this at Ulta and thought about buying it, but I wasn’t sure if it would be good quality! Now I know! I’ll have to check it out! Thanks Christine! <3 Lindey
im in love with this 🙂 and for some reason it looks really yummy… mmh probably just me 😀
Please post swatches! Thank you.
I just saw the swatches, sorry. :]
I love CARGO esp their blushes! sadly Sephora discontinued them :'(
It looks better swatched than I thought it would!
The packaging would bother me, as does most of the ones made from cardboard. So bulky!
Cargo is a completely underated brand. Since they are no longer associated with the main Sephora stores, they go unnoticed by most make up lovers. Their bronzer in medium is still one my favorite bronzers of all time. I have purchased it 3 times since I discovered it in 2004. You can find them still at the sephora’s inside JCPenny. Their lip gloss in the tins are the best and never sticky. If I wore lip gloss I would buy their tins. Their eyeshadows are truly some of the best I have ever worn.
love their hd mat primer..its a hg
It is definitely a hg product. It is better than MUFE’s HD primer.
what is “hg”?
Holy grail! 🙂
You can find them at Ulta still too. Thats where i picked up this palette
It is so pretty and really worth it for the price. But I won’t be buying because I just gave away my hands of hope palette. Its just too pretty to use!
is there any europe based olin store i can buy that ?
^^
Oline store *
ONLINE STORE ! geez . i like that 😀
I’m not sure!
Gosh!! they’re super pretty :O
I bought this palette already and im not sorry. It really is a great palette and the staying power is pretty good. Not a bad price considering the size of the e/s’s in it.
I have last years palette and its great. If this one is anything like it, Im sure its completely worth it.
I LOVED last year’s CARGO Hands of Hope palette and even bought a backup when they went on sale after the holidays. This year’s palette is not quite as fantastic, but it’s still an amazing bargain, especially for the quality!
I finally got my hands on this!!! geez, after going to 4 sephoras across the country (in portugal sephora still sells cargo) I finally found this palette! there was only one left.
I thought about buying it as soon as it came out but there weren’t really any reviews. When i saw this post i just had to get it! i love it. thanks for the review, christine!
Love this palette! The blush/bronzer is my fav!
