Butter London Dosh Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
Butter London Dosh Nail Lacquer
Butter London Dosh Nail Lacquer
Butter London Dosh Nail Lacquer ($14.00 for 0.4 fl. oz.) is described as “a molten apple green shot through with metallic gold.”  Dosh is British slang for money, according to the description over at beauty.com.  It’s  a granny smith apple green–chartreuse yet greener.  It has flecks of gold and green shimmer in a finish that almost looks like glass to me.
I compared this shade against other greens in the swatch gallery, but it’s really not like anything I have (not to say there may not be a dupe out there, but I don’t know one!). Â It is a deeper green than Illamasqua Radium, but the way the chunky shimmer looks makes the end result differ significantly.
This had nice color pay off and only required two coats for an opaque result. Â Most of my experience as of late with Butter London has been with cream finishes, and I’m pleased to report that the shimmer ones apply just as nicely as I remembered–really even flow, smooth application, and drying time isn’t long at all. Â I typically get a week of wear with Butter London’s formula with a proper base and top coat.
Dosh

I MUST buy this (and that beautiful cobalt blue)
It’s definitely unique! I don’t think I could pull this off though. Ulta now carries Butter London! Yay!
Curses, I can already tell that this color will not look good against my NC35 skin! >.< Still, it is such a pretty color. *_*
Reminds me Opi “Who the Shrek are you” but without a shimmer.
I was thinking the same thing!
I’m glad other retailers are carrying Butter London now, because I ordered directly from the site a couple of years ago and had the worst customer service experience ever! I’d never buy from them again.
Despite that, they have some pretty shades and this is definitely one of them!
Would you be comfortable with sharing some details? I’m planning a sizable BL haul right now, so I’d be very grateful to hear about any of your experiences with retailers. 🙂
Not Alannah, but I had trouble ordering from Ulta.com. My order seemed to go through, but I didn’t hear about it shipping after five days so I contacted Ulta. I was told that everything was OK and the order would be shipping out soon. Of course, the one polish I absolutely had to have did NOT come in my order. And when I warned people on butter LONDON’s Facebook page about Ulta’s terrible customer service, Alison (who I think also handles bL’s website) deleted my comment! One of my friends also had a bad experience with her as well.
At this point, I would maybe consider purchasing from beauty.com (if they’ve solved their improper packing issues- maybe Christine could tell us how her polishes came i.e. if they were bubble-wrapped or what) if I had to buy online. I was grateful to pick some up at two stores (including Ulta) and that was way more worry free for me. For what it’s worth, I didn’t have a problem ordering directly from bL, but that was years ago.
My polishes were all bubble wrapped.
My experience buying butterLondon from their site was excellent. bottles were incased in pillow like plastic and wrapped in tissue. Bottles were tightly sealed. First two bottles came from Ulta…well packaged, with only one bottle having a slightly loose inner cap.
Feel free to email me (Murphy@butterLONDON.com) if you feel you have had poor service with butterLONDON.com or Ulta.com. I will ensure that we correct the situation. bL and Ulta strive to give the best service and we look forward to continuing to serve you.
Go with b-glowing.com or beautybar.com for Butter London. B-glowing in particular has excellent customer service. I had a bottle break in spite of being carefully wrapped. Sometimes it happens. Anyway, I had ordered three bottles, but only one broke. The other two were coated in polish. B-glowing immediately reshipped the entire order. Beautybar is good too, and they have a few colors that are hard to find (Knees Up!).
What a shrek-y, swampy kind of colour! Neat.
This is one of the prettiest Butter London shades I have seen. I’ve been able to avoid purchasing Butter London for so long, but especially now that they’re available at Ulta I think I may have to buy.
It looks exactly like Sephora for OPI “Gleek Out” from their Glee collection that launched this Winter.
eww. it looks like barf. dont like it at all
It’s much better than Illamasqua Radium. I really did not like that one.
Mm, the more you swatch those the more I really think I should buy some. Are they only available online? Sephora?
I got mine from beauty.com!
Looks kinda like Zoya Apple.. but more yellow-y. Very pretty!
I wish I had not bought the first Serena Williams OPI release that was a lighter version of this type of shade. I like the olive that is added to this to bring it down a tish from the brightness of the Serene first OPI released shade that came with that first release of OPI black shatter. I love London Butter and am glad it finally is hitting some more places here in the US to get it such as Beauty/Drugstore.com. I want to see a wider US distribution for London Butter coming.
It’s like the child of Illamasqua’s Radium an Orly’s It’s not Rocket Science =)
I own this and it is really nice. Butter London polishes are such a dream to apply. This colour looks really good against your skin tone, Christine.
This is pretty but I have to ask, did it stain your nails? Sometimes certain lime greens stain my nails, even when I wear a bast coat. Thanks in advance.
I didn’t get any staining myself, but a lot of greens do stain (something about green pigments – even green eyeshadows are more likely to leave a stain behind than a lot of other shades).
