Butter London Dodgy Barnett Nail Lacquer
Butter London Dodgy Barnett Nail Lacquer ($14.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “highly holographic lacquer in a classic shade that blurs the line between grey and silver.” It looks like a soft, paled silver-gray shimmer suspended in a clear base, but it definitely has holographic shimmer as soon as the light catches it. The particles aren’t chunky or gritty, like glitter, but they’re a bit larger than shimmer. Milani HD is comparable–the particles are just larger and it has a more silver coloring.
I applied two coats, and it was noticeably sheer throughout. You could definitely get more opacity by layering on a third coat, or forego wearing it alone and use it layered over your favorite polish. The consistency, color payoff, and look were really comparable with Trustafarian. Dodgy Barnett is thin enough to be able to use three coats fairly comfortably; it won’t feel overly thick or take eons to dry. Butter London’s formula wears well on me, lasting a week or longer, with very minor tip wear and no chipping, whether used with a base/top coat or just the polish.

I think GOSH do a holographic like this which is cheaper but I think they are a European brand
Too sheer 🙁 And probably too opaque to use as a top coat. Or not?
You can definitely use it for layering!
The color is beautiful. It would be interesting to layer it over something simple, neutral, and pale.
Hmmm.. I wonder if it were layered over a pale blue nail polish. It tweaks my interest a bit because the halo isn’t OTT.
I think this is definitely one of those nail polishes that I’d either pass on or layer over something else. I usually don’t buy polish that you need more than two coats for unless it’s really special. <3

Sally Hansen put out a similar one with the same level a sheerness a few years back. 🙁 Admittedly the shimmer/glitter is so fine I think most brand skimp out on loading the polish up. You really need double the amount here.
If your willing to. Clean off the nail brush with nail polish remover and leave the bottle open for a day or to. Just mix it every once in an while with a plastic tooth pick to make sure the top doesn’t form a crust and you can remove some of the base and condense your cheap glitter nail polish this way if they are too sheer.
An exact dupe (that I am wearing right now) is Nicole by OPI in Look At Me, Look At Me. It’s pretty sheer as well. I layered it over the gradient pink I had on. It dries fast but you defo need a top coat as the texture is a bit gritty.
I LOVE the name!
Could it be?! A linear holo???? I LOVE linear holo polishes!!! I want this because its a gorgeous color, that holo is a bonus! If you want to see a really strong linear holo, check out Color Club’s Revvvolution, Fashion Addict, and Worth the Risqué! So pretty *_*
This would totally make a great top coat for a creme polish. I really like it. I’m stuck waiting for a holo to come out for gel polish in the meantime.
This is really cool looking, but I think I might try out the Milani HD one instead. It’s fun, but not a polish I’d often use and for that reason, I wouldn’t want to spend $14 on it
I wasn’t too crazy about this one… Fairy Cakes I LOVE!!!!!!! 🙂
