Butter London Blagger Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches

Butter London Blagger Nail Lacquer ($14.00 for 0.4 fl. oz.) is described as a “striking cobalt blue.” That description is dead-on — this is such a rich, decadent blue. It’s royal blue, but even richer, and not quite as dark. Butter London’s impeccable cream formula shines here; rich color in two coats (but honestly, one coat is nearly opaque), smooth, even flow of the polish as you apply. I typically get a week’s worth of wear with Butter London’s formula.

I’m generally not a blue nail polish fan (but i AM a big Butter fan) but this true, clear blue looks simply gorgeous on you. I just might give it a try. Thanks Christine.

I really would like to bite your nails off now, they look good enough to eat with that color on. *_* That seriously looks like pressed butter with blue coloring. Amazing.

I am so glad you swatted this. I’ve been thinking about it for the past week or so. I’m currently wearing Artful Dodger, which I LOVE!

Really a great royal blue without being too primary blue – hint of dusty under/in it? I would do with for US holidays esp 4th of July with a stripe of red along the tip of my nails done with
So Easy Stripe Rite – found at Sally’s. I would like it with yellow or orange tipped thin line from the stripe Rite brand. I am really loving busting up my mani’s an pedis done with darker shades esp given one of these super thin Stripe it Rite stripes.

What am I doing wrong?? I want to love this brand, but they ALL (No More Waity Katie, All Hail the Queen, HRH) chip on me so easily (I’m talking hours after application).

What the hell’s a blagger?? Lol. I know Butter London’s polish names are all Britishisms and whatnot, but this just makes me think of when Niel Cicierega (a.k.a. Lemon Demon and creator of Potter Puppet Pals [whose website, unfortunately, uses Comic Sans extensively] and nerd heartthrob) would purposely mispronounce and misspell “vlog” in his vlogs and their titles.
(No, that was not utterly unrelated to the actual post. You’re delusional.)

a blagger is someone who is fake, or deceptive. i don’t know why i know that. LOL. and it’s not because i live in Canada. no one knows what it means here either! 🙂

I’m absolutely in love with this polish. After trying it out, I went and bought another bottle, because this lacquer captures a slightly darkened version of one of my all-time favorite colors, and does it perfectly.

It’s not quite a cobalt blue- it’s brighter, richer, more luxurious. This shade of blue is actually called ‘faience’. Faience is a type of pottery glaze that contains a tin oxide. When fired, the oxide rises to the surface of the clay and creates a striking blue color that absolutely shines from within. A lovely example (with a lighter shade of the color) can be seen in William, a faience hippopotamus figurine that is decorated with papyrus blossoms. William can be seen on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s website:

Man, I am wearing this color right now because I loved the way it looked in the bottle– on me, this pulls way more green-blue than straight up blue. Don’t know, maybe I needed to shake the bottle prior to using it and some of the pigments separated out or something, but I have to say I’m a little disappointed, because while it’s still a beautiful polish, my color doesn’t look anywhere as awesome as your pictures do. (I know, monitor settings might contribute to this, but seriously, I feel like the color on my nails does not match the color in the bottle.)
