Burberry Union Red (17) Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches

Burberry Union Red (17) Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is an orange-based red lipstick with a subtle shine and nearly imperceptible shimmer.  It’s opaque in just one layer, and it wears comfortably on lips, as it feels lightweight and smooth.  With these deeper red shades from Burberry, I get about four hours of wear and then some staining for another hour or two.   It is scented with a rose-ish kind of scent that doesn’t bother me (nor does it linger on lips, just in the tube), but those with more sensitive noses may want to try before they buy.

The lipstick is embellished with the brand’s check pattern, and the packaging itself is a gunmetal square with a magnetic enclosure.  When you slip the case back on, it automatically twists into place and clicks together (very fun to play around with!).  You get a good amount (lipsticks average around 0.12 oz.), and the price is in line with other designer high-end brands.

RECOMMENDATION: If you like creamy, rich shades of red that lean a little orange, Union Red might be something right up your alley. I like orange-reds best on warmer skin tones, but this one doesn’t lean too orange, so it can definitely be worn by those with cooler skin tones as well.

What is it about wanting brands that are hard to find? burberry isn’t available in Ireland – sigh but my sister is going to London in a few weeks, i could ask her to get me something!

Yeah I totally understand! Most brands are available in Ireland anyway, although some in just big cities. Shu Uemura is another that is lacking and I hear they are pulling out of the UK so no chance that they’ll come here now! I thought i’d died and gone to heaven when I went make up shopping in Japan – anna sui, jill stuart and shu!

Anyway I think its the thrill of the chase when it comes to hard to find!

The first lipstick I ever bought looked just like this… I was 15. It was by Wet n Wild. It cost me a whole dollar. It smelled like plastic. I wore it to the city fair and thought I was just the coolest thing ever 🙂

That would be a good idea for the temptalia asks! what was your first piece of make up that you loved? Mine was an Urban Decay palette with four eyeshadows, four lipsticks and a blush and I wore it almost everyday when i started college!

Hi Christine!

I was wondering if you shape your eyebrows yourself or have it done someplace? I’ve been looking around for a decent place but haven’t found any success 🙁 Any recommendations in the SF Bay Area?

This is absolutely stunning! I’ve always been envious of skintones that can wear fire-engine-red lipsticks – I need a lot more blue in mine.

Honestly, just gorgeous. It looks so amazing on you : )
