Burberry Gold Pearl Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Burberry Gold Pearl Eyeshadow
Burberry Gold Pearl Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.088 oz.) is a pale, yellowy beige with subtle gold sparkle. MAC Dazzlelight is frosted and lighter. Wet ‘n’ Wild Comfort Zone #1 is a bit lighter and frosted. Wet ‘n’ Wild Sparkle ‘Til Morning #1 is similar in color but metallic in finish. It’s kind of like Trench, Porcelain, and Gold Trench combined.
I didn’t love the texture; the base color was on the powdery side, while the sparkles didn’t quite bind with the base color, so they tended to flake or disappear during application and later on, during wear, I experienced fall out of the residual sparkles that did make it on the lid. Part of the “appeal” of a product like this is the sparkle/shimmer, so if you can’t actually see it on the lid, because it winds up trapped in the brush or underneath your eye, you’re really not getting the “pigment” you’d expect when seeing it in the pan.
The color can be easily used as a sheer wash or applied more heavily; that is one of the best features of Burberry’s eyeshadows is they are so soft, they can be done sheerly, but they’re so dense, that they can be applied with full coverage without having to layer or pack on the product. Because the sparkle isn’t jam-packed into the product, there isn’t a lot of fall out, but I felt like 90% of the sparkles wound up underneath my eye. The underlying base color wore well, though, and it was fully intact after nine hours of wear without any signs of fading or creasing (no primer).

Too bad that it is a bit disappointing. I think the color itself is a bit off as well.
Did it apply any better with the included spong applicator?
I love the color, but it’s a little too sheer and I could do without the sparkles
I’ve been fortunate enough to have no difficulty finding shades like this that I like at the DS. It’s the complex colors that convince me to spend the extra $$. Not throwing any shade, but I like my expensive shades to be unique 😉
Christine, or any other beauty maven, can you suggest a particularly unique Burberry e/s worth trying? I’m ready to make my foray into Burberry.
I think if I was going to do eyeshadow, I would get one of the quads – just because the textures are very similar (and some of the colors seem to overlap) – so better bang for your buck.
I ordered the Pink Taupe No. 7 quad from Nordstroms. According to reviews, it’s less pigmented than the single eyeshadows, but it dupes some of the bestsellers like Pale Barley and Midnight Brown. I don’t know for sure yet, but fingers crossed it’s still as good overall as the single eyeshadows…
I have two that I’ve photographed/swatched but haven’t written reviews for, but if my memory is serving me correct (I have it in my notes somewhere, lol), I think of the 8 shades across the 2 palettes, only one was so-so (but I don’t remember anything being BAD).
Christine, I would like to see more products of Givenchy. I am anxious to see the swatches of Le Rouge and Le Vernis!! 🙂
Yes that is not blowing me away.
wow that pigment is really dissapointing!
Such cute packaging, total rip-off.
