Bronzy Neutrals: MAC Colour 4 Eyeshadow Quad Look

Bronzy Neutrals: MAC Colour 4 Eyeshadow Quad Look

This was a quickie look before I went to school last night! I even timed myself and managed to get it all done in fifteen minutes and *not* leave late for class, LOL! You know I had to dive into the Colour 4 eyeshadow quad, just ’cause is totally my style. Really love the colors and the textures–Manila Paper is the only one that doesn’t totally suit me; it’s a bit stark on my brow bone, because of my skin tone (would be lovely on someone lighter), but I imagine it’ll be very nice as a lid color even if I can’t use it as a brow color so much! You could also do a much darker or more coppery/coral lip with this look.  I had an itch to use Victorian, one way or another, and thus I went a little lighter!

Happy Thursday! It’s almost the weekend–we’re almost there! 🙂 Though since mine involves major, major studying for midterms, I’m not keen on its arrival!

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Flip eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Aztec Brick eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Creole Beauty eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Creole Beauty eyeshadow, with the 239, on the outer corner and lid. Lightly tap and brush Flip eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Manila Paper eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Lucky eyeliner on the lower lash line and sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Ripe Peach blush ombre to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Victorian lipstick first, and then layer Ember Glow lipglass for a complementing lip.

Hey Christine! Do you still use the same point and shoot cam that you told me about before? I’m always amazed by the detail of your shots! Love this look on you btw. =)

apart from the brow color that is, as you said yourself, a little stark, the look is gorgeous and the lips … that combo is soooo pretty !!!!

LRW Avatar

gosh Christine, how does anyone in your class concentrate on what the instructor says when this(you) vision of loveliness is present?! I can’t wait for this collection to hit the MAC store! the Color 4 quad and Nanogold, Hot Hot Hot, Straw Harvest, Perky will be mine!!!!!!! kind of wanting that Very Violet e.s. as well…

Natalie Avatar

But I am trying to stay away from your quad enabling.. Grr!! I have like 180 MAC shadows and I should have dupes, right? You have to say YES! 😀

kfm Avatar

Wow! That look is stunning! I actually like the Victorian lipstick better seeing it “in action” than I did in the swatch. I’m generally a little leery of warmer-toned make-up, but you’re winning me over to this quad…

Vanessa Avatar

I also like this look but I really really like the first look you did. i love color.:) i am waiting for this collection to reach my country. they probably will come in March.

i love your blog. It’s a big help for me finding in advance the products i want. I don’t want to buy it on the spot and be an impulse buyer. thanks Christine.

You always do a good job of pairing your eyes makeup with your blush/lip color. The lid color remind me of MAC Expensive Pink.

How do you like Kielh’s TM? I’ve been meaning to try it. If I am NC 20-25, should I get Medium or Light? Thank you!

Bettina Avatar

I like your usage of bronzes and golds, usually people don’t use those shades well and it looks scary! Sorry I work in the mall, people at make up counters can’t even do bronze and golds well..they over apply it and look like they walked out of a disco!

LuckyHet Avatar

O my goodness! I knew for sure I was going to pick up the Victorian lipstick and now I might have to pick up that lipglass to go with it. That is such an amazing lip combo. Thanks for using this in your look!!

Jess Avatar

such a beautiful look!! i ordered victorian lipstick and ember glow lipglass yesterday, but now im thinking i might need this quad,i just looove neutrals lol

daphne Avatar

This lip combination is great. I love how much a lipgloss can change a lipstick. I’m still not gonna get Victorian, because on it’s *own* I just don’t really like it…but it’s nice to see how well Ember Glow turns a really PINK pink into a beautiful coral. I was thinking about getting that one, might have bumped it up my list. (The wait is killing me. I refuse to order new products from the website and insist on swatching in person first, because no matter how good your reviews are I always change my mind a little when I see stuff in person – probably because of stuff looking different on my skin or whatever. But MAN, I hate to wait a whole ‘nother WEEK! I want those lippies now!)

Christine Avatar

Thanks a lot, Daphne! Aww, I like it a lot, and since I rarely wear lipsticks alone, I guess it works for me, LOL!

But I have NO problem with you wanting to swatch things in person… I am exactly that way. It’s really great how helpful beauty blogs are and that there are so many to view, because with so many skin tones out there, what works for me doesn’t always work for someone lighter/darker (or cooler!)… but it’s all helpful as a point of reference. ‘Cause sometimes I see something that rocks on a cooler, lighter skin tone, but then I know on me, it might not be so super-fab. I’m a big “gotta swatch it first” person!

daphne Avatar

The great thing your blog does for me (um, or awful thing, depending on if you’re talking to my sense of vanity or my bank account! :D) is introducing me to all kinds of products I’d never think of. For example, my Korres lipglosses, Guerlain KissKiss gloss, Benefit full-finish lipsticks, Stila Barbie palette, BB Pewter eyeshadow….yeah I never would have considered almost any of those without you 🙂 And actually I buy shadows based on swatches all the time…but since it’s the lips that are really calling to me on this launch I want to wait – those vary so much from person to person!

phuong k Avatar

at first i didnt like this palette but now that you used it and it looks so lovely…i’m changing my mind! how beautiful this looks on you.

Ino Avatar

hey christine! kudos on all the great stuff you do. i have a quick query; which product would you suggest for a dewy finish. kiehls tinted moisturizer or bobbi brown EXTRA tinted moisturizer. oh and in the photos where your wearing BB, have you used anything else? THANKS

Hiromi Avatar

Christine, you look beautiful! I like the shadows and eyeliner match purrfectly. Ripe Peach was not on my list b/c I thought it was too orange-y, but you look very natural. I am NC30, so I might consider getting it…

Crystal Avatar

Wow what gorgeous colors! This quad would make blue eyes really pop, and seeing as how I don’t have any Mac quads OR warm colors, I might have to get it!

Kalee Avatar

those colors look gorgeous on you! i wish i could wear coppery/bronzy colors but im so fair skinned i think it makes it look too orangey and weird. even when i use woodwinked….. which bums me out because those eyeshadows are so pretty. =\

Ava Avatar

This neutral look is really pretty on you Christine. This quad is a must have for me, along with that purple quad and the purple lipglass in lavender wind.

Nicole Avatar

I just love your pics! The ripe peach looks great on you. So glad I ordered it.

I was going to pass on this quad, but after seeing your photos I think I have to have it! Guess here goes order #2!

Mariah Avatar

YAY! I couldn’t wait to see you do a look with the gold quad! I know it’s your fav colors and we always do our best work when we’re working with something we love! 😀 Looks beautiful on you!

Teresa Avatar

Oh wow this look is gorgeous. I love that blush, but don’t think I’ll be getting that or this quad. There’s too much to choose from!

I am getting Victorian. Do you think Queen Bee lipglass with it would create at least close to the same look as this lip combo? Or mayyybe even Love Nectar?

I hope so, otherwise you make me want the pretty Ember Glow, too! 🙂

Thank you Christine 🙂

Christine Shen Avatar

Hi Christine,
I love the lip combo, do you think if the lipstick is replaced with creme cup or snob the result will be the same?
thanks!!

Lindsay Avatar

This look is simply stunning! I’m so glad you do eyeshadow tutorials! As much as I love makeup, I never wear eyeshadow! I don’t know how to put it on! I know, that’s a crime! Haha! Everytime I put eyeshadow on, I look like I was punched in the eye! My eyes are so deep set and I have little space between my lid and eyebrow! Thanx Christine!!!

iliang25 Avatar

You are making me want ripe peach blush..I made a pledge not to buy a blush until I hit a pan amongst my 20 something blushes!!! I am NC 42 I hope it will show as nice on me!!!

Ana Avatar

Wow, that eyelook is gorgeous! I wasn’t planning on getting the Neutrals quad, but now I am very tempted.

The peach blush ombre looks so much better on than I expected. I suspect it won’t go with my colouring (my skin has cool pink undertones… and overtones), but I’m going to at least give it a try now.
