Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Bronzer/Blush Duo ($36.00 for 0.34 oz.) contains Bahama Brown (Shimmer Blush) and Pink Peony (Illuminating Bronzing Powder).  It’s a limited edition piece from Bobbi Brown’s Desert Twilight collection.

Bahama Brown is listed as “the perfect way to add a pop of color to the apples of cheeks.” It’s a muted brown with a hint of champagne shimmer-sheen, subtle orange-brown undertones, and a barely-there gray tinge. MAC Equilibrium is browner, no orange/red. Burberry Russet is closer but has a matte finish. MAC Pressed Amber is browner with subtler orange undertones. This shade had decent color payoff, but the texture was a little dry and stiff, so it wasn’t as blendable as I’d like in a powder blush. The sheen was nice–not too much, which meant it didn’t emphasize pores or imperfections on the skin. It wore for seven and a half hours before I saw some minor fading along the edges.

Pink Peony is described as a “blend of sheer powder and micro pearls.” It’s a soft, light-medium pink with a pale golden sheen. The color is sheer, as described. It’s almost coral, though the pink tends to dominate. MAC Immortal Flower is darker with no gold sheen. Tarina Tarantino Parasol is brighter, pinker. Tarina Tarantino Feather is more coral. Guerlain Blush G is similar but has a moer metallic sheen. Pink Peony was softer and more blendable on, and the sheerness of the color did help it smooth out more easily, since you couldn’t go overboard with it! This shade wore for six hours on me–it was much faster to show fading.

I like it, but I don’t love it.  If Bahama Brown was softer, more finely-milled and blendable, this would be a great combination of colors.  The brown could be used faintly as a contour shade on lighter complexions or as a way to bronze or add a glowy sheen on medium to dark skin tones.  The pink works either as a blush for lighter skin tones or as a highlighter on deeper ones.

I’m with you on this – I like it, but I don’t need to have it. If Pink Peony wore better I’d consider it, maybe, but I think I’ll pass.

Very true. I don’t have any of the dupes you mentioned but I’m thinking about getting the Tarina Tarantino blush palette that has two of them, iirc.

Hey Christine. I loveee the second look. I was wondering what are you wearing on your lips? Laura Mercier lip glaze or is it a lipstick? Love the color!

I seem to love this combination and the colors are so pretty. But, is it just me or is your smile distracting me from really seeing the product? I am wondering if it will look different otherwise?

Loulou Avatar

I didn’t love this to begin with. But the sales lady told we to try blending the two together and now I think it is so pretty! I’m really enjoying it!

Wow, it looks great on you! I wouldve said ‘leave it’….til I saw it on your skin! Both shades look gorgeous! Although I just ordered MAC Immortal Flower from a reputable reseller of MAC products, so I’ll likely not buy this….then again, I may have to take it in with me to Bobbi Brown & swatch them side by side to see if they’re different enough from one another to justify buying. There’s always a justification 🙂

I was nervous about getting this because I already have Bobbi’s golden light and medium bronzers. I prefer neutral browns in all my make up colors, and her blushes are quite bright, none for contouring. I’m so glad I got it though! I don’t know why I didn’t consider Bahama Brown when it was a regular blush. I use the Brown as a bronzer/neutral and then the pink, which is extremely sheer even on me (warm ivory in winter) as a “pop” color as she would say. The brown is a gorgeous taupy btown with a hint of purple, I love it on my very fair skin. I hope she brings it back into the regular collection. I sometimes wear eyeshadows as blush because it is so hard to find good brownish blushes for fair skin. If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them. I have fair skin, red hair and greenish/brown hazel eyes. The reddish browns bring out the green in my eyes, and brwnish blushes are the only ones that bring out some form of cheekbones on my pudgy face and don’t look clownish! Fair skined ladies try this, it may be love at first sight. Texture considerations are trumped by good color!
