Bite Beauty #070 The Lip Pencil ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark coral with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, velvety consistency that spread well across the lips for all-over color as well as for lining just the edges of the lips. The lip liner was comfortable to use, while the resulting color stayed on well for over six hours. The formula did not seem to be drying until after eight hours of wear. I think it would work best with Amuse Bouche shade(s): Pickled Ginger (slightly lighter) see comparison swatches.

The Lip Pencil is supposed to have “perfect, allover, opaque lip coverage” with a lightweight feel. The formula worked exceptionally well for lining the edges of the lips and keeping lipstick on longer and more within the lines (e.g. a lipstick feathers on its own wouldn’t feather when layered over one of the lip pencils). Some shades worked well for filling in the lips for all over color, but a few applied more unevenly or were less comfortable to fill in with. The consistency was soft, just barely creamy–almost more velvety than creamy–and oddly spreadable, as it was infinitely easier to even out color by rubbing my lips together than applying more product. The formula has a lightweight feel on the lips, and the wear ranged from five to six hours for light to medium-hued shades with some of the deeper and richer shades lasting well over six hours. They will require sharpening, and as they are creamier, it was easiest to keep them in a cool place or in the freezer (for a few minutes) prior to sharpening to minimize any mess in the sharpener.

The consistency was soft, just barely creamy–almost more velvety than creamy–and oddly spreadable, as I found the best way to “even” out the coverage was to press my lips together, and while there was a touch of tackiness, the color almost always appeared more even after that than if I kept trying to maneuver and push the color around with the pencil itself. They do feel lightweight, and they lasted anywhere from five to six hours on their own. They weren’t spectacularly long-wearing as a standalone lip product, but they extended the wear of lipsticks by two to four hours.

Bite Beauty #072 The Lip Pencil ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a bright, medium orange with warm, reddish undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in one layer, which went on evenly and smoothly with little blending required. The texture of the liner was smooth, velvety enough to glide across the lips without tugging uncomfortably. It adhered well for over six hour wear, as it was still mostly intact after that point, and was non-drying. I think it would work best with Amuse Bouche shades: GTA (darker), Cayenne (darker), Persimmon (slightly darker, warmer) see comparison swatches.

Bite Beauty #056 The Lip Pencil ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a medium black with subtle,w arm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly to the lips for all-over color. It was easiest to maneuver it along the edges of the lips as a lip liner, but the lack of opaque coverage meant that the edges always looked a little lighter than one might want for a black lip liner. The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, but it dried down and adhered well without being clingy or uncomfortable. The color lasted for six and a half hours on me and was non-drying. I think it would work best with Amuse Bouche shades: Whiskey (lighter, brown), Black Truffle (purple, cooler) see comparison swatches.

What a beautiful, bright color! Bold lip color is still new for me, and I’m still experimenting with what looks good on me…I don’t know if this would, but I’m curious to try sometime! Too bad there isn’t really a way to test a lip pencil.
