I’ll take any black shadow that isn’t ‘Carbon’ lol
Carbon…the only black eyeshadow I’ve ever bought on purpose (as opposed to blacks that happen to be in any of the palettes I own).
I’ve had it forever. Never used it. Don’t even remember why I bought it, especially because I never wear black eyeshadow. I just know that it’s sitting in the back of a drawer gathering dust. Lol
Well said, Ivana. And MAC persists in putting it in so many of their premade palettes, which makes those palettes a poor value purchase since I’d never use it. And to add insult to injury, while they retain Carbon, they d/c Typographic (not a true black but still such a much better shadow).
It really comes down to what it’s used for. There are several black eyeshadows that are great for packing on the lid (too many to list individually), but they’re too pigmented to use in the crease. For that, I love MAC Carbon; it’s thin/dry enough to deepen the crease/crease shade, and when used on top of another shadow, I find it blends out nicely, especially if I build it up in thin layers. I realize not everyone uses black eyeshadow on a regular basis, but as someone who incorporates black eyeshadow at least 85% of the time, I can appreciate the formula, and am willing to take a few extra minutes to use it. I very rarely use black on the entire lid, so i can’t really say what works best for that, as I typically just work with what’s in a given palette, and always over a black cream base…
Never been a huge fan of black eyeshadow personally. Always looks too stark on my eyes!
Natasha Denona blackest black-Black matte, I don’t know if I’ve seen the better black yet.
Yup. It’s the best on the market IMO
If I were to ever use a black, it would be Blackout from UD in the Naked 2 palette. It is not a shade I use at all. It would look way too stark on me.
I hitpan on Black Widow from City Color. Nice creamy formula, densely pressed, great for Smokey eyeliner and filling eyebrows.
I wear a lot of Arabic looks so I use a lot of black eyeshadow. I bought Natasha Denona’s Blackest Black eyeshadow at $30 for 4 grams. It is truly BLACK and the smoothest, deepest, easiest to blend black shadow I own!
I feel personally offended and victimized by whoever recommended MAC’s Carbon ?
