Benefit Lollitint Lip & Cheek Stain Review, Photos, Swatches
Benefit Lollitint Lip & Cheek Stain
Benefit Lollitint Lip & Cheek Stain ($30.00 for 0.42 fl. oz.) is described as a “candy-orchid tint.” It’s a cool-toned, pinky-lavender with blue undertones and a satin sheen. Too Faced Jingle All the Way Blush (LE) is shimmery, powder. Urban Decay Quickie (LE) is a powder, lighter. NARS Angelika (P, $29.00) is shimmery, powder. MAC Peony Petal (LE, $21.00) is powder, lighter. MAC I’m the One (LE, $21.00) is powder. See comparison swatches. (Note, I couldn’t think of any dupes that mimiced the lip stain aspect.)
Lollitint applied to lips was horrific; my lips looked shriveled and terribly dry (I spared you the close-up–it was a total train-wreck). It’s something that I think could be worn as a base, but you’d need something nicely hydrating on top to bring back moisture and smoothness to the lip. It almost had a slightly stinging sensation for the first half a second it was applied, and I tried it on two separate occasions and had the same feeling and end results. It applied somewhat evenly, but it doesn’t stain the lips evenly–it absolutely stains, though. I don’t recommend swatching this on an area you don’t want pink-tinted for the next two days! On lips, the stain aspect seems to last four hours or so. It was unbearably drying, unfortunately. I’m not sure why, but the wear and feel of Benefit’s stains totally varies from shade to shade when it comes to wearing them on lips.
On cheeks, it was infinitely better, both in terms of application as well as the final result. It has a very thin consistency, but it’s not so thin that it’s water-like. You’ll want to work one cheek at a time, as it dries down fairly quickly and doesn’t remain blendable for long. I liked fingertips best for blending and maneuvering the color on the skin. It does apply more easily over bare skin, but I was still able to pat and blend over foundation. You can also apply this more heavily onto bare skin, then apply your foundation and use only light coverage on cheeks–the color will still come through! If you have a liquid foundation that takes a bit longer to dry, it’s particularly nice to apply this when your foundation is still slightly wet. It wore well for ten hours on bare cheeks–at the very least–and that was with a light-handed application.

Now I’m curious to see what it looks like on the lips, hahaha.
It looks so pretty swatched, but eh, I dunno.
It is on my lips in the photo 🙂 I just didn’t provide a close-up.
Side note, your brows look amazing! Anyway, I’ve tried Benetint and Posietint and just couldn’t make the formula work for me. I LOVE this color, should I try it anyway?
If neither of those work, I wouldn’t bother with this one!
the color looks like Posietint to me.
Posietint is pinker! 🙂
Thank you Christine. I wonder if you can give me some suggestion, I have NARs Orgasm, but want something in liquid/cream/stain form of that color, will chachatint be a close up dupe?
Have u tried the nars orgasm multiple. It is a cream product
I just apply straight from the brush to my bare cheek- right at the very tops of the cheeks and sheer it out to add dimension. I then add blush and voila!
No way, Gina! I have ChaCha tint and don’t particular care for it. Can only occasionally pull it off during the summer, and it’s only because I hate wasting a product. This is not one I would miss if I lost it.
But I have the Orgasm powder blush and LOVE it. I also have Nars’ ‘The Multiple’ in Orgasm – it’s great; it’s a creamy stick form of that color. Or try The Illuminator in Orgasm – it’s a liquid form.
The packaging is adorable and makes your skin looks so glowy and kind of doll like!
Thank you!
That is so pretty, I love the lilac undertones <3 think I need this in my collection!
Enjoy, Gemma! I hope you’ll let us know how it works for you!
I can’t wait for this to come out! I have no dupes in my ever growing blush collection!
Yay! Have you tried any of Benefit’s other tints?
The color is so nice! But the only thing I like about these Benefit tints is their smell. I hate the way they stain your finger and stay even more than it does on the cheeks when applied.
I’m with you on how quickly and long they can stain fingers and skin (though it doesn’t seem to be quite as long-wearing on the cheeks…which I think is a GOOD thing – my guess is because we blend it out!).
yeah and then the amount soaking into fingers is like more than sixty percent of the product we take off from the bottle for our cheeks lol what’s the point in it then?
I love the color but this seems a little too difficult to use. Seems like it takes a lot of work lol
It’s one of those products that has a learning curve – once you figure it out, it’s easy to do, but it can take some practice!
Hey Christine,
I’m curious to know what you’d rate it if it was purely a cheek product.
8.5, 10, 8.5, 10, 4
Hey Christine,
I forgot to add this with my previous comment, sorry – would you say it is too similar to Nars Angelika to justify getting? I love your blog btw. I don’t buy anything anymore without consulting Temptalia. 🙂
I think they’re more similar applied than they otherwise look – Angelika has silver sparkle but I don’t find that that many of them actually show when applied! If you prefer liquid or cream formulas, then it might still be worth it, but if you say use Angelika on occasion and not every day… it’s not *needed.*
Honestly, I can justify either way for you – just let me know your leaning 😉
They look so similar swatched, and I have no particular leanings, but the packaging for lollitint is just too cute to pass up! decisions, decisions.
I’d probablyyy skip, but at least this will last you a lifetime!
Mamma Mia! this is absolutely stunning on u Christine! Loved the girly pink packaging as well!
Thank you, Lisha! xo
Ooooooh I love this color!!! Really pretty on you, too!
Thanks, Brittnee!
It does give the youthful, teen, pink cheeks look 🙂
Thanks a lot!
I can see the dryness on your lips 🙁 That sucks, I really wanted it as a lipstain!
I know, right? 🙁
I had totally forgotten this could be used on lips, which is funny because I noticed your lips not looking ermm, as great as they normally look in photos. But they also looked weirder to me than just bare lips. Then I looked closer and realized the lilacy-color on them and realized you were actually wearing a product on them haha! I’ll definitely pass on this product, it’s not for me in any way.
Imagine them close up! EWWWW!
I don’t really use their tints on my lips, don’t think they work very well for that but after your review about the staying power on the cheeks, I’ll definitely be picking this up when I can! I have difficulty making blush stay on my cheeks, so stains are the perfect way to, with a bit of powder blush on top. Btw, this color really suited you! You look great!
Yes, these are definitely better as cheek stains! 🙂
I think I’ll skip this one. I love Benefit’s tints, but the blue undertones of the Lolitint might not be the best choice for my neutral/olive undertones. With that said, I adore Posietint!
Happy to hear you’re a fan of Posietint!
I’m not sure about this. It looks pretty on your cheek but I have TheBalm’s Down Boy which probably looks much the same on me – a light, sort of milky pink. I got a sample of ChaCha and find it stains before I can blend it so I’d be a bit wary that this might do the same.
It takes some practice to figure out the timing, as they do dry down quickly!
I was prepared to hate this based on your review, but then when I scrolled down to look at the pictures, I liked it (as a blush). I have never tried Benetint (can you believe it?) because I wasn’t sure how you apply it. Duh, it didn’t occur to me that there was a brush, lol! What was I thinking? Now that I see the shade of this I really like it. It sounds a little difficult to apply — trying to decide whether to apply first or after foundation – in my case fairly viscous IT CC Cream — makes me wonder whether I can do it. I may see if I can get Sephora to give me a little sample to try
I usually prefer to do it pre-foundation but do a heavier application, so the foundation gives it a softer look, but I don’t have to worry about applying foundation over it!
I prefer their box powders to tints. The only one I have is benetint. I prefer to use these as cheektints. But loved the shade nevertheless.
I like their powders more, too 🙂
I think I’d like to try this. I think it would like pretty on light cool-toned skin. P.S. I LOVE you earrings in this picture.
Thank you, Krista! 🙂
I’ve been loving that shade of orchid on my lips lately, but this tint sounded scary bad for the lips…. x:
I don’t think I have an orchid blush yet and this looks great on you, Christine.
I’m just really bad at applying liquid/cream blushes especially when I have to conceal parts of my cheeks.
Powder blushes are more forgiving and easy to maneuver.
I have Benefit’s other tints that I’ve barely used. ;-; Need to try them again.
Lollitint was no friend to the lips, lol!
I rather like this color on you, Christine. Rather “fresh” looking… 🙂
Thanks, Vanessa!
This looks so great and natural on you!
Thank you, Stef! 🙂
Have been waiting for your take on this! =) Such a shame that most of the dupes you listed are LE–I have been looking for a cheek product in this color but in the form of a cream or powder (NARS Angelika I believe has shimmer). Hopefully with the new Pantone color there will soon be more shades out like this.
Angelika has shimmer BUT a lot of it doesn’t show up – and it’s more like sparse sparkle than shimmer, but yeah. 😉
Very cute! I may pick this up to wear during the springtime.
Perfect color for spring!
Lilac colors like these never do my NC30 skin tone any favors.
Really? I think they work well with NC30 – especially with a darker, smokier eye! 😀
I’m not what most would call a “subtle” fan of makeup so holy schnikies was I surprised when I realized my mini Posietint was always in my bag and that I regularly reached for it. Same goes for my full size Benefit Tarzan style tan tint. I love that stuff but I know its discontinued so I don’t carry it around with me in case of bottle breakage. Angelika was my first and favorite NARS blush but there is certainly room for this as well since I seem to love to use them to create subtle depth below the eye and then use another blush for impact. Thanks Christine!
My pleasure! 🙂 Any tips for applying Posietint and the like? It might help other readers who are on the fence!
The packaging is novel but the color is not me, at all.
I have both Cha Cha Tint and Posietint, so I’m curious about this one.
For those who find application difficult, I like to brush this on the tips of a kabuki brush then use that to apply it to my cheeks. That way I get to blend and diffuse the color better without staining my fingers. It works best for me after I apply moisturizer as well. Hth!
What a great tip! Thank you for sharing! I’ve had Benetint and currently love Posietint, never thought of applying them this way and saving my fingertips.
Looks like it could be the liquid formula of Hervana, kid of how some of their other liquids pair with the powders.
Once again, we have a different lip experience 😉 I have all the Benefit tints, and this one is the best performer on my lips. I actually find it slightly hydrating, and after a couple of layers, it’s totally even and opaque, and it lasts for hours. For Benetint and the others, lips have always been more of a struggle, but this one feels reformulated to me. I love wearing it on cheeks and lips for a nicely harmonized look.
I use ChaCha tint almost every day and I love how natural it looks. My skin is pretty light and when I accidentally overuse it people seriously ask me if I got too much sun. I’ve been wanting a pink tone but Poise tint kinda of disappears on my cheeks. Gotta try this one.
