Year of the Rat Brush, $125.00 (Limited Edition)
A limited edition brush handcrafted in Japan that celebrates the Year of the Rat for Lunar New Year that features squirrel hair.
The little rattie is adorable.
But I don’t have that kind of money for makeup brushes, so I’ll settle for getting a picture of it and making it my phone wallpaper.
That’s a great idea! It sure is adorable.
It’s SO adorable! :o) And neat that it’s coming on on 123.
I adore Chikuhodo but haven’t cared for the matte handles on the Lunar New Year’s brushes in the past. This one, however, is a must for me. I’m aesthetically drawn to the Makie series as a whole, and this little rat is too cute to pass up.
Wasn’t last year’s pig brush the first of this series?
I think you’re right, Bonnie. I didn’t buy that one (although the little piggy was darling) because I prefer the glossy handles. This will be my first Chikuhodo powder brush (but I have several others in my arsenal).
It’s so cute!!! If only it wasn’t so pricey.
Super cute but out of my budget for a makeup brush….
I’m on a low in 2020 and would not have bought it if Beautylish didn’t offer to split payments across 3 months. So this way I can fit this in my low buy beauty budget and have a cute rat in my hands soon ?
*low buy ?
I have resisted all but one CP of the LNY beauty. I have ALWAYS resisted any ‘hodos as being too self-indulgent. Not any more. I am a Rat who will turn 72 this year, and I will be able to leave this brush to some other special rat. Hope I can use the GCs on this special edition.
hey hey. fellow rat here. definitely getting it as well just because it’s beautiful and my year
Bravo, kjh! There are times in life when you need to give yourself something luxurious. As a Chikuhodo fan, I’m positive you’ll find the experience worthy of the investment. They’ve made making up in my 50s an endless joy.
What would this brush be used for? From the picture it seems too tapered for a powder brush and too big for a blush brush (I’m trying to see how I’d incorporate it into my routine). Are they collaborating with any brand? $125 for a brush is an awful lot, especially for an in-house brand.
Agree that it is quite expensive but FYI Chikuhodo isn’t Beautylish’s in house brand – it’s a well-known/leading fude brand with multiple lines and extensive experience. I believe Beautylish is just one of their stockists and that they do exclusive handle designs with them.
I didn’t know it was Chikuhodo, the post didn’t mention it. Thank for the info!
OMBFG,!!! Ordered it. It went up at least 1 hr early, and I was just checking my PI and card number, and there it was. I could use my GCs, which were deducted automatically (as last year) and THIS LIMITED EDITION RAT ONLY COST ME 85$. Can you tell I’m beyond excited? An heirloom Chikuhodo in RAT, no less. I think I’ll take the day off, when it comes, just to admire, feel, and use it. That would sound very creepy and kind of nuts, anywhere other than here. I’d take it to bed, but already have 2 pups in there…
This is cute as fuck but is almost my entire annual makeup budget! The powder brushes I already have work well enough anyway.
cute but not chikuhodo this year, I asked beautylish …
Interesting! Now that you pointed it out, the website copy doesn’t say anything about the maker brand. Makes me think a little slower before dropping the credit card numbers!
So I asked also and this is what I got back from Beautylish:
Thanks for writing in and taking the time to do so! I firstly want to apologize, as the communications we initially sent out incorrectly said it was a collaboration with Chikuhodo, as this was the direction we were instructed to take. The brush is indeed, created by Chikuhodo but it just does not have the branded Chikuhodo stamp on the side, per Chikuhodo’s request. Because its not in line with what Chikuhodo normally does with their brushes (ie, they don’t usually do cute animals on the handles), we were not able to say it was a collaboration with them nor have their name stamped on the side like their other brushes.
I will personally work with our merchandising team next time on communication on what we can or can’t confirm with these brushes for our customer service team
