bareMinerals The Covert Affair Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.09 oz.) contains two shades that pair well together but are also more complex, a bit more unique than your average eyeshadow. The best of the Ready formula shines through this duo with both shades having a soft, buttery texture that feels like silk, blends out effortlessly, and wears really well.

Air is described as a “satin taupe.” It’s a light-medium beige with a hint of gray/brown in it and a frosted finish. It had good color payoff that had a very soft, buttery consistency and blended easily. The color wore well for eleven hours before fading slightly. MAC Fashion Beat (LE, $15.00) is darker. LORAC Navy #5 (LE) is darker, less shimmery. bareMinerals Ginger Sugar (LE, $14.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Catch Me If… is described as a “rich mauve.” It’s a medium-dark, plum with a warm, golden shimmer that almost gives a metallic finish to the shade. It has a more unique finish, because it has strong, plum colors but then a strong golden sheen that seems like it goes on top like an overlay. It was intensely pigmented with a very soft, creamy texture that felt like butter. This shade didn’t show any fading until after eleven hours of wear. NARS Dolomites (Left) (LE, $24.00) is less shimmery. Sleek MakeUP Eve’s Kiss (P, $9.99) is lighter. MAC Great Beyond #1 (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery. Tarina Tarantino Fantastical #1 (P) is darker, cooler-toned. Laura Mercier African Violet (P, $23.00) is lighter. Makeup Geek Twilight (P, $5.99) is warmer. MAC Performance Art (LE, $15.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I love Bare Minerals Ready Eye shadows! They are one of my favorite shadow formulas! There are so many that I want to get, this one is at the top of my list, for sure!

Right?? It’s not quite duochrome… since there’s no chang ein the color of the shimmer, but it is similar in the way the shimmer is more on top than blended with the base color (yet it is one product – it doesn’t just disappear like sparkle over a matte!).

BAH bare minerals does this every single time. I love their eyeshadows but they sometimes are a bit late to the game when it comes to colors. I always have their latest releases in a dupe somewhere else. I think its because it appears they are developing their eyeshadow range more?

Wow: that’s GORGEOUS. Christine, you put together the most beautiful, enviable, effortless (well, they seem effortless) looks in your eyeshadow reviews! I usually feel too made up with even a simple eye look, but maybe this little duo is a good one for practice: focus on Air with a little Catch Me and a lot of blending? I have green eyes and The Covert Affair will make them leap out of my face. Er, in a good way. As always, thank you for your incredibly detailed reviews!

If I can find a stockist of this brand I might well be all over this like white on rice. Love the way you’ve put this on Christine.

I think I have to buy this duo. Anyone know if either shadow is a duplicate from another of their palettes? If so, which. Thanks.

Catch Me If is beautiful. Air doesn’t wow me though. I don’t think I’ll get it, but I will keep my eyes open and swatch it when I find it, for sure. It migh look different on my skin. If I like Air in person, this is a must have. (Wouldn’t it be ironic if Catch Me If didn’t suit me at all, then). 🙂

I remember reading about BareMinerals being bought by Shisheido thus throughout the brand the texture of the powder has been improved. I am not too sure if it was something in one of my wildest dream or it was a real newsw that I actually read about. But from my recent experience with them (starting from their 8.0 Palettes last Christmas) , they have been on the top level so far.
