bareMinerals The Flashback Eyeshadow Duo

bareMinerals The Flashback Ready Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.10 oz.) contains two shades: Deja Vu and Amnesia. The duo will debut in October, and it’s touted as a solid eyeshadow with SeaNutritive Mineral Complex (which includes sea minerals with antioxidants, cold-pressed borage oil, caffeine, and cucumber) that delivers “anti-aging benefits for a softer, smoother, revitalized eye area.” The new solid eyeshadow is described as “creamy, silky smooth” with “seamless blendability” with “stay-true color” that can be worn alone and is long-wearing and “won’t smudge or run.”

  • Deja Vu is a bright, metallic silver with a smooth, metallic sheen. It is similar to Inglot #448, just a touch cooler in tone.
  • Amnesia is a blackened brown-gray that’s not too dark or charcoal. It has a near matte finish. Inglot #348 is browner. It’s a bit darker than MAC Print.

Deja Vu is soft, smooth, and beautifully pigmented, while Amnesia is soft, it does have a touch of dryness common to mattes. It could be a smidgen more buttery, but it’s a good matte (just doesn’t quite achieve greatness). Both shades apply well with good blendability and staying power. When worn alone, I was able to wear these for 10 hours without an eyeshadow primer. The duo itself is an interesting color combination, particularly the way the two finishes provide such a contrast. Neither shade is overly unique, but they are good shades to add to a permanent range.

Oh mama!!
These duos look gorgeous.
I used to be a die-hard BE user for years. I have almost 200 of the loose shadows. I never touch them anymore. I dabbled in Mac, and then it was over. Now I’m a die-hard pressed shadow user, mainly Mac, and all of my money goes to Mac, UD, Nars, etc.
Once I went back to pressed shadows, I didn’t want to mess with the loose shadows anymore. I think BE is smart to start a line of pressed shadows, since it seems to me the number of people using loose minerals (eye shadows anyway) is dwindling.

I will definitely have to try.

I am so happy to see BE releasing pressed shadows. I have over 100 of their loose shadows and I am planning to press them and place the pans in palettes. I love the colours and the quality, I am just over the little jars of loose powder.

I work for BE and never knew these were coming out! I love their shadows but yes, they can be a bit messy; especially when you’re in a hurry. I can’t wait to get these in and show them!

Ooohh, thanks for reviewing these, Christine! None of Bare Escentuals’ products have ever grabbed me, and I probably would have just overlooked these if it weren’t for your swatches.

I am glad to see that these shadows seem to be good quality, but I really dislike the packaging on these. It looks very generic and cheap to me. I don’t know. I’m not convinced. I will wait to see swatches on a few more duos before I decide if I will buy one.

Although the sticker on the back looks a little cheap-o, the colors are amazing! Awesome pigmentation for an amazing price! Looks like I’ll be headed to Sephora soon….
