bareMinerals The Top Shelf Eyeshadow Duo
Debuting at the beginning of October, bareMinerals The Top Shelf Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a neutral-hued compact that features Mixologist and Cognac. The new pressed eyeshadow formula has a SeaNutritive Mineral Complex that gives the shadow a “creamy, silky smooth” texture with “seamless blendability” and “stay-true color.” It’s supposed to be long-wearing whether worn alone or with primer–you shouldn’t see any creasing or fading. I’ve tested various combinations of shades from the duos and quads, and I’ve happily achieved ten hours of solid wear without a primer underneath. For a review of the packaging, please read my original review.
Mixologist is a really pale, orange-peach with a metallic sheen. It has a silky smooth texture, but it doesn’t translate as well when worn–it does go on uneven in places. I’m being nitpicky, because it’s not a big deal at all, but I wanted to point it out. The level of shimmer and sheen makes this look a lot lighter on than it does in the pan (where it retains more of its peachy color). Inglot #393 is yellower, while Inglot #353 is matte.
Cognac is bronzy brown with a metallic-frost finish that has a bright sheen. There is a subtle red-brown undertone. The texture is phenomenal–super smooth, buttery, and dense–and the color payoff is even better, with really rich, opaque color. It is similar to MAC Woodwinked and Inglot #406.

Cognac looks GORGEOUS like liquid gold :O Loveee
lovely 😀
Cognac is gorgeous! But woodwinked looks orange on my lid, do you reckon this one would translate orangey as well?
They seem pretty close to me, so I think it would 🙁 It’s probably the reddish-brown undertone that does it!
This is almost exactly like the NARS Key Largo e/s duo!
Ooh, these colors are really pretty but they look like Urban Decay colors I already have: Sin and Halfbaked
Cognac looks gorgeous! I love gold eyeshadows. It pairs well with browns and greens. LOVE!
Mixologist is lovely. This duo is really calling to me. So pretty!
Cognac looks gorgeous but I’m disappointed the mixologist shows up so white–I think the peach tone would blend better with the cognac shade. Can’t wait to try these!
That Cognac eyeshadow looks like it was painted on. Amazing. Reminds me of a brassier version of Sugarpill Goldilux, considering it’s so thick.
I actually just bought this and freaking love it. Soft, applies beautifully, looks gorgeous, has very long wear time (basically all day). Love it! I am definitely tempted to buy some more of these duos.
