New for October, bareMinerals The Enlightenment Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a neutral-hued compact that features Guru and Namaste. Bare Escentuals’ pressed eyeshadow formula contains SeaNutritive Mineral Complex that gives the shadow a “creamy, silky smooth” texture with “seamless blendability” and “stay-true color.” It’s supposed to be long-wearing whether worn alone or with primer–you shouldn’t see any creasing or fading. I’ve tested various combinations of shades from the duos and quads, and I’ve happily achieved ten hours of solid wear without a primer underneath. For a review of the packaging, please read my original review.
Guru is a soft, neutral light brown with only a hint of warmth–more of a champagne-beige warmth than truly golden. The finish has subtle shimmer, giving it a satin-like appearance. It’s only a couple of shades darker than my forearm (which is around NC20 I’d say). It reminds me of a yellower MAC Patina. The texture was soft and smooth without being powdery.
Namaste is a light-medium, cool-toned brown with a near-matte finish. It was a silky-smooth feel with great color payoff. It’s a bit darker than Burberry Almond and less warm compared to MAC Wedge.

Pretty neutrals! I love a good neutral duo.
I like this! These are colors I know I would use on a daily basis, so I’ll have to check this duo out. Thanks for the review, Christine! 🙂
MAC Patina and a nice brown to go with? SOLD.
I can see myself buying this because it would be so useful! I have fair skin and blonde hair and “Namaste” looks like it would be perfect for my light brows. Great every day eyeshadow.
Wow! Bare Escentuals is going the give great eyeshadow companies like Urban Decay and theBalm (among others) a run for their money. I am truly impressed with all the eyeshadows Christine has reviewed. I am definitely gonna create my wishlist soon. I am very excited.
I appreciate that the quality seems to be good, but so many of these colors are just so…uninteresting.
It’s a good place for a launch, to start I suppose, but a lot of women (make-up junkies or not) are going to have a lot of these colors and I think they may need something more unique to attract a bigger crowd.
I love neutrals, but that eyeshadow duo looks too cool-toned for me. =(
This is lovely…reminds me of a less frosty Dior Nude Look.
I enjoy those colors, for a quick & simple everyday makeup. Never tries eyeshadows by Bare Escentuals, but I might change my mind!
In the first photos, they both look so warm but in the closeup and swatches, much less so, and so more wearable and appealing to me but I’ve got so many similar shades so this is a “leave it” for me.
I thought the same thing! about how warm they looked in the photo but not so much in the swatch
The titles on the photos for this section are wrong…they all say just the name of the set – not the individual colors where that is what is in the photo.
I included a photo of the back of the palette, which indicates the shades as well!
I love the girls but I don’t think I’ll buy this eyeshadow duo because it reminds me of Naked and Buck from the Naked Palette.
Is namaste similar to buck eyeshadow from the naked palette? I was just wondering, because I own the naked palette, and that colour may be my most used color and i don’t wanna hit pan on it
