We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

No. I would rather buy what I want and get gifts with purchase.
No. I have way too much makeup. Thatโs an easy way for your stash to get out of control
I’m not, but I think they’re fun when you’re getting into makeup or want to try certain kinds of things for the first time. Now that I’ve been trying different brands, I know what I like for makeup and skincare and don’t need the samples to experiment with.
No, but back in the early ’80s I did. I subscribed to the Doreen Miller Beauty Club, and also attended one of her talks in London. Subscription boxes go back way further than people think!
Come to think of it, you are correct. There were some beauty clubs back in the late 80s. Members could select their color preferences and receive a kit monthly. I remember subscribing to one for a couple months.
No, not presently. I did used to be subscribed to Ipsy Bag for several years. It was rather fun to receive a little bundle of surprises, I’ll admit. However, it also became a situation where many of the products just weren’t for me: loose pigments (even though I myself have purchased a few that I just had to have, they are not typically a product that I use), deluxe size samples, for instance.
That ellipsis speaks volumes though lol ๐
Not any more. I gave them up years ago.
No, absolutely not. I loathe subscription boxes of anything. My likes tend to get very specific, even for trial sizes.
I don’t subscribe to any boxes for the same reasons others have mentioned. I like what I like and that is what I choose to spend money on. The same goes for mystery bags for me. I don’t mind the price, but if I am spending that kind of money with a company, I want to chose what I get.
No – and for the same reason that you don’t either Christine. I don’t like the random selection of products – most of which are pink themed (lipsticks, nail polish etc or lipglosses) and are too generic for my tastes.
Sometimes I think they are filled with things that the brands or retailers can’t sell – for obvious reasons (like they are duds).
I am still getting Ipsy since it cheered me up during the pandemic and introduced me to things I never used, such as highlighter and face serums. I am not sure how much longer I will do it, but the makeup bags make great pen cases for my students, lol.
I subscribed to Ipsy for about 2 years. Even with a complete beauty profile, some of the picks were off. Most of the products sent to me were okay, a few were duds, and a few were fantastic. I finally canceled my subscription during the pandemic. I was working from home for a while and not wearing as much makeup and I felt like my growing makeup collection was taking over the house. We also bought a house last year so I cut some extra expenses. Also, some of the stuff they sent was starting to get redundant (I have about 5 black liquid eyeliners and a bunch of beige/taupe eyeshadows). Surprisingly, I didn’t miss it at all even though it was a nice bit of fun mail to get.
Yes….two! Full sized product boxes. ( the sample -sized boxes are not my thing) I LOVE the serums, the lippies, the palates. It’s like a fun gift every month.
Hi Cynthia. Which subscriptions are you getting?
I just started a subscription box through Scentsy. They mainly sell scentless candles but they also offer bath and body items. I enjoy subscription boxes because it’s nice to get something in the mail other than bills or junk mail. Also, I like to try new things–it’s like giving myself a present on a regular basis. I wish my cash flow allowed for more boxes.
I have to correct myself: Scentsy sells “wickless” candles. (It’s Monday, forgive me)
No, and itโs been a few years since I was. Glossybox was the one and it was okay.
I subscribe to the Copacetic Cosmetics monthly box. It isn’t completely a surprise box though. Each month has a theme and you can choose your colors: 1 of 3 mini nail polishes, 1 of 4 eyeshadows, and 1 of 2 mini lip products. There is then a 4th product that is the owner’s choice. It is $12/month and is a great way for me to try products from a small indie brand.
