We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Honestly as the pandemic has continued base and cheek products have become special occasion only for me. I’m back in office and have been for over a year, so anytime I’m not at home I’m still wearing a mask, making doing a full face a special occasion only thing for the time being. I really want to try the LE seamless skin but given how infrequently I’m wearing anything beyond concealer right now I haven’t made the plunge yet.

Not a single thing I can think of tbh. If it were a special product and one of those “once it’s gone, it’s gone forever”, maybe I’d do that but overall I like to think that if it makes me feel good and happy, it’s meant to be worn whenever and wherever I feel like it, not put away. If it’s LE, I don’t care, this day and age, not many things can’t be replaced by sth similar or better. Not many things are that unique, there’s always someone somewhere making a cheap or “more expensive” copy somewhere, it’s a matter of time.
There are been situations when I wish I had “saved” sth because I didn’t know they were going to be discontinued (like this reeeeeally old foundation from L’Oreal called Studio Secrets that came with such a handy brush, a perfect shade and perfect “everything else”) but then sth else comes else to replace it, in my case it was MAC Studio Fix. Given the chance I’d have bought a bunch an kept them in a box somewhere.

A few. What comes to mind is Guerlain Cruel Gardenia Illuminating Powder. The packaging is so potentially damaging for such a beautiful product that I only take pains to open it (and close it again – therein lies the danger) for special occasions. MAC Grand Entrance eyeshadow is another special occasions product – it might not seem all that unique but, at least for me and with my skin colouring and eyes, it is unique and while I’ve lots of similar shimmery champagne-y, beige shadows, not one is quite like that. Oh, and UD’s Lannister Gold liner…again, it’s a “one off” – I’ve nothing at all like it and so I use it judiciously (or miserly….that might be more like it). Now that Marc Jacobs no longer makes makeup, I’m being pretty stingy with my skinny pencil liners, which brings me to a question I’ve been wanting to ask here…

Can anyone suggest a pencil liner for the upper waterline that will last for a long time (for me, the MJ Skinny Liners were fabulous…they actually stayed put for a goodly while and I’d love something to replace them but so far, I’ve not found anything).

The last I heard (somewhere around September or October) was that Marc Jacobs Beauty was going to sever ties with Kendo, reformulate their products, and relaunch, either with a different manufacturing/retail partner/partners or as an indie brand. The site went down in, I believe, November, so I think they’re currently in the process of cutting current ties and building the new infrastructure. I have/had a site account and follow the brand on Instagram, so I should get an email and see a post when the new launch happens. Don’t give up hope yet!

I’m not sure that I’d say for “only special occasions”, but I infrequently wear my Dior Airflash foundation. On an every-day basis, I prefer something lighter and something south of full coverage. I use the airflash when I’ve got to be photographed or for events that I’m speaking at.

There is a fuchsia lipstick I will put on if it’s a night party and the lighting is poor so I don’t look washed out. I think it’s one of those dollar WnW sheer fuchsia lipsticks, sort of blue flecks. Otherwise, no, I wear pretty much the same day in and out.

Yeah, I usually push myself to use my PMG Bronze Seduction if it’s a special occasion as that’s one of my two ultra-mega expensive eyeshadow palettes and I barely touch it otherwise….Sometimes I’ll use my most special lipstick (to me at that very moment in time as it fluctuates) that day too – if they don’t clash. Generally it’s less about the actual products I’m using and more so the indulgence in using exclusively luxury items or favorites that I enjoy above others.
