Anastasia Brownie Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium-dark, golden bronze with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It appears a lot lighter swatched as the shimmer becomes more pronounced than it appears in the pan. Anastasia Chiffon Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium, golden bronze with a metallic sheen. It is a lighter version of Brownie with less khaki/olive tones. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, almost cream-like texture that was dense and buttery, still blendable with great adhesion to bare skin. It was still going strong after nine hours of wear. Sydney Grace Campfire (P, $8.00) is darker, warmer (95% similar). Estee Lauder Metal Saffron (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Sydney Grace Campfire (DC, $8.00) is darker (90% similar). Anastasia Chocolate Crumble Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a dark, taupe brown with warm, reddish-brown undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. FORMULA OVERVIEW | Anastasia Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is supposed to be a “finely-milled, highly-pigmented” powder eyeshadow. The brand has a large range of individual eyeshadows that are available as pan-only (no compact to hold them); if you purchase four, you’ll get a 4-well palette for $40 ($10 per eyeshadow), or purchase eight and get an 8-well palette for $70 ($8.75 per eyeshadow). The palettes are thick cardboard palettes with tabs on the side for easy removal/rearranging. There are several different finishes, and the performance can be better or worse depending on the finish, though it also ranges from shade to shade. On average, the formula is semi-opaque to opaque, lightly dusty to buttery, wears seven to nine hours, and is fairly blendable. The Metallic and Titanium finishes seem to be the best-performing to me, but there are some really standout mattes and shimmers as well. I have not tried the sparkle, satin, or velvet finishes as extensively as the other finishes, personally.
* Two eyeshadows in my order arrived broken (Brownie and Chiffon), and I can happily report that ABH said they would send replacements–they didn’t give me any fuss about it.

I have been waiting for you review on these eyeshadows. I have only tried some of the palettes since the price is about right for me. Definitely, I would like to get 8 at time to same a little bit more 🙂
Some of the singles are nice! Some are so-so (like past ABH palettes). The Titanium finish seems to be the best/most consistent.
I love the looks of these. Added to my wish list. I think they’d all go great with hazel eyes.
They’re very nice neutrals!
Can these be purchased instore at a Macys?
I’m not sure what shades are/aren’t available at Macy’s – I think only some are but not sure which.
I really like Chocolate Crumble!I have not purchased any of the Anastasia eye shadows because it seems like their eyeshadow palettes haven’t rated that high and some of the colors just rate terribly. But these seemed like the turned out better than usual I might have to try some!!
The Titanium finish is really good from what I’ve tried 🙂
Why do a couple of the pans of shadows look so crumbly? Are they super messy??
I mentioned this in the review/post above!
Isn’t it funny that Chocolate Crumble actually didn’t crumble? LOL Out of the four shades, it’s my favorite.
Haha! 😉
I just want to know what’s on your under eye line!
I think it’s Sephora Snakeskin Dress with Anastasia Metal over it, but I didn’t write it down. Sorry!
I absolutely love what you have under your eye! I’ll check out those two products!
It’s so pretty!
I have enough neutrals but these are so pretty, and price looks very reasonable for singles of this quality
They are lovely!
Chocolate Crumble is amazing and this eye look is my spirit animal.
Awww 🙂
These are beautiful but, sadly, not available in Canada. I might get my son to order them for me the next time he’s working in the US (but did those 2 arrive crumbled/damaged like that, Christine, via the mail or did you drop them?).
Ooops – Ignore my question about the breakage! I honestly didn’t see it the first time and I was even LOOKING for it. Sounds like great customer service from Anastasia too!
Arrived like that – I ordered 16 eyeshadows, and those two were broken. I’ve ordered 16 eyeshadows from ABH directly before (several months ago) and had no issues, so I think the formula may be softer or else it was just bad luck.
I didn’t realize that Brownie and Chiffon were so similar til I noticed how many of the dupes for each shade were the same. Then I looked at the swatches side by side and was amazed that despite looking so different in the pan, they really are very similar. Considering I have NINE dupes for Brownie (and so, several for Chiffon), maybe I don’t have to be quite so worked up about getting these (or having to wait 4 months til my kiddo is back in San Francisco).
I was surprised, too! I’m curious whether the difference will be more or less noticeable with the fully intact pans. The formula is really dense that I just pressed everything firmly into the pan, and while not by any means pretty, it hasn’t come apart either!
Pretty! I am loving the new layout on top of your posts! 🙂
Thanks, Raeanne!
These look nice. I wonder why they don’t sell the singles in Sephora though. I don’t believe that the Macy’s by me has the single either.
I don’t think Sephora even sells half of ABH’s products these days!
I know! I find that annoying because there is nowhere to try this stuff first. It’s hard to buy makeup sight unseen. My Macy’s has like a beaten up display. It’s really gross. There’s no way I would use one of the testers!
How similar is brownie and chiffon to MAC sumptuous olive? And chocolate crumble to MAC mulch? I have those two eyeshadow already, is it worth getting these too because they are pretty? Thanks for the great review! 🙂
Sumptuous Olive is a lot greener, and Mulch is much more orange! You can pull up your own side-by-side comparisons any time – the tool is in the sidebar/underneath the post (desktop vs. mobile viewing) as well as in navigation!
It’s interesting the Brownie and Chiffon are almost dupes for each other… But all the colours are actually beautiful. A fantastic rating as well. The only thing is that many of these colours live in our UD, Too Faced and bareMineral stashes as well.
I also meant to add that you have done a really beautiful eye look Christine. Just love it.
Thank you! 🙂
They are really nice!
Chocolate Crumble is pretty!
It is!
I heard from Norvina’s Youtube channel that Macy’s will be getting these online soon. I dont think they sell the refills in store though. She also said that they were coming to Ulta (and MAYBE Sephora) in the Spring! So exciting! The new shade Fudge is an awesome Ultra Matte shadow also.
Ulta – that is awesome!
I really like ABH shadows I’ve made 2 4-pan palettes. I like being able to pick my shades. She has a great range. She just released 2 highlighter pallettes called glow kits. I am so hoping you can find the time to review them. I’m sure your list is already long!
Nice, Trina! What did you put in your 4-pans?
Christine, what eyeliner did you use? Or did you use one of the eye shadow for your lower lash line?
I think it’s Sephora Snakeskin Dress with Anastasia Metal over it, but I didn’t write it down. Sorry!
These seem to have fabulous pigmentation, longevity on the lid WITHOUT primer is super impressive, and they look buttery smooth , too! Considering that I am still super impressed with the Self-Made Palette by ABH, this is quickly becoming a more appealing brand for me, and hopefully they’ll keep it up!
I was actually pretty surprised at the longevity, because in the past, ABH eyeshadows tend to be shorter-wearing. And then sometimes these new, denser formulas are either longer-than-average or below-average (e.g. NARS’ version, Makeup Geek Foiled, etc.), so it was a pleasant surprise!
Love these warm neutrals.
Me too! 🙂
Suh-hoooooooo puh-reeeeeeetty! 🙂
They are!
These look really gorgeous, Christine! I already have dupes for my two favorites (I628 Reptile for Brownie, Viseart Velvet for Chocolate Crumble), or I’d consider getting them, even though heaven knows I don’t really need more warm brown eyeshadows! I’m hoping that you’ll be reviewing more of the shades, if some of them look as rich and buttery as some of these do.
I have a few more!
Excellent 🙂 I wish Nordstrom or Sephora carried them.
I purchased Belize and Chiffon and they are BEAUTIFUL swatched, but when I apply them with a brush to my lid, they seem to lose a bit of their sheen/sparkle/pizazz – any suggestions on how to keep them at their best when applying?
I used MAC 239s and didn’t seem to have any issues!
Wait, how did they get away with using the official Cruelty-Free logo and just to the left of the label they have “CONTAINS CARMINE AS A COLOR ADDITIVE”?
Is that required for Leaping Bunny? I don’t think I’ve seen that as a requirement, but if it’s a concern, you should reach out to Anastasia/Leaping Bunny.
See this from their FAQ:
Are all Leaping Bunny companies vegan (i.e., manufactured without animal by-products)?
The Leaping Bunny list does not provide information about the composition of ingredients. Because ingredient information is available—and required by law— we know that conscientious consumers can read labels to discover whether products are vegan or not. For this reason, Leaping Bunny chooses to focus its resources on validating information that is not readily available to consumers, such as animal testing claims. Many Leaping Bunny companies are committed to manufacturing natural and vegan products; however, the Leaping Bunny Program can only certify the animal testing component of this process.
I’m almost angry that Chocolate Crumble isn’t one of the ones that arrived broken, because what a missed opportunity for a pun.
HAHA!
